Shirley here. I just love your accent . I am from Tennesse. Live in Kentucky now with husband of 21 years. I am 77 years young. Love all of you ladies and van live. Be safe and stay cool in this heat.
I think the thin side of the trim board will break. You are a hoot LuLu!😜😜😜
Lulu. Push the zip tie joints down to the sides of the boards so the plastic won’t rip your sheets.
Those are trim boards that would go around a door! And let’s hope they aren’t finger joint! Very creative though! You definitely think outside the box which is awesome!
Love how your handle came out! And your sweatshirt, the peace sign on the back ✌️
I got the sweatshirt in the desert in Pahrump, NV, someone was putting it on the "free table", getting rid of it, I was like "I need that"!! ❤️
@@LulusWay64 Nice!
Lulu and her beadazzled handle! Cute.
I love when you fix things, you are showing other people, that they can do it too. You also realize you're limitations and get help where you need it. Bravo on both accounts!
Zip ties to the rescue! They are a fabulous invention.
Lulu you're a star; i'm loving the bling on the handle. tfs, big hug from Western Australia.
Nice job with the screw eyes and bungee, love the DIY approach you have to things.
Brilliant! Thank you for sharing ❣️✌️🥰🤟✨️🧚♂️
I like the honesty of the bungee - this is my job, here I am.
yes, ya gotta love the bungee, always showing up. but they are just not very handsome!!
If you have a sewing machine, you can sew 2 tubes of material that match, to slide the cords through, then hook them up. Kind of like a hair scrunchy tube. But you don't have to scrunch it up.
Favorite part of my day is watching Lulu’s way!😁
sweet thing to say!! 💕
Me too 👍
You could try a rubber mallet to help the tape stuck tight. Since I have aged I don't have the strength I used to have and find these helpful in so many ways.
Take a small pretty scarf and twist it around the bungie. :)
just an idea - because you sew, you could make a casing or sleeve for your bungee cored to go through - it could be zebra stripe material!
This is so relaxing to me. I love how you think
Skate board tape would work too on your toilet bars
Great improvements! Agree with putting a screw in each end for longer stability of bed. Love seeing your creative ideas!
When you opened that new handle, I said out loud, “oh no you’re not! Not alien tape!” Then you said it! Alien tape! I laughed out loud! You are a great sport to try these things! 😜😜😜
Bird cage seed catcher would work great to cover those bungees.
You could make a ruffle cord cover like are used on lamp cords for the bungee cord.
If your handle doesn’t work, get some black leather and cut you a strap. You can screw it right into the holes that you’ve already made. It’ll blend right in with your door and you can decorate it anyway you want to. Love to watch you fix things you are truly a jack of all trades! 🥰
Your new “diamond studded” handle is super cute! Great idea LuLu!
Your drill bit should be slightly smaller than your screw allowing the threads to have a strong grip in the wood! You are exactly correct to use a screwdriver to tighten your eye hooks! Great job!
A little Alien Tape , a little bling, viola ! Who knew?
Take some fabric and make a tube (casing) to run the Bungie cord through. You can make it long enough to go all the way around and even cover the hooks on the cords.
I love how you get it all done. The handle is great - it will always bring a smile to your face knowing you did it your way!!
That handle is 🎉awesome 🎊 !! You are awesome 😎 👏
I really enjoy watching you work on your van. It gives me confidence and inspiration to do more things on my own..
hi Bettysue!! I'm happy to hear you are gaining some confidence. just try things and if they don't work out, try something else. it's an ongoing project, always changing what I thought would work and then it doesn't!! easy breezy!! just go for it!!
Good morning Lulu 🙋♀️ Great job, love the handle ❤😊 Have a great day ❤😊
Love watching you engineer hacks and fixes. You are so creative! And I am so inspired by a place for everything and everything in its place. ❤
Lulu, you are brilliant, I love your bling bling handle 👏👏👏To you 😉🇮🇪☘️Eire
Love the handle hope it stays for you bling bling handle
seems like it ain't going anywhere!! famous last words!! 😂
Move the ends of the zip ties to to lower edge of the boards on the bed. They might poke into your mattress and tear it. ?
Thank you for adding the Amazon information on finding the supplies to furnish a van. I greatly appreciate it. I am a 63yro female looking into vanlife. It would be full time for financial reasons. I have enjoyed following you and the information you share.
hello Karen! so happy you found on the links helpful!! how exciting for you to be venturing out into full time vanlife! one day I may do the same!! for now, I have family members that live with me and they all take care of the house while I travel about half the year. but if they every move out, I'm selling . . . most likely!! I really enjoy vanlife and hope you do too! 😊
Use a leather belt, or any belt, maybe a sparkly, bedazzeled one, to strap in your Berkey, screw it to the 2 x 4 where you put the eye hooks, punch a hole in the belt so when buckled it holds snugly. Safe travels, love your videos
If you haven't found a solution to your eye sore (the bungee) make a scrunchee/sleeve to encase it in. I'm sure you've got lots of scrap fabric to choose from (old shirt, that kerchief, fabric swatch etc.)
You should be able to take that back panel off and hold a piece of wood in the area underneath where the holes were made and use self tapping black screws to attach the handle, then put the panel back on. The handle would be good and sturdy.
I hope I get to meet you one day. You are such a kind soul. I love it when you cuss, you keep it real.
hello!! I hope I meet you one day!! thanks so much for writing!! Lulu 😊
The knots on the bungee cord would drive me nuts. You can pull the cord through the hook part and tie the knot there and make the bungee cord the size you want. Though you aren’t fond of it, you can buy the hooks and the stretchy cord by the foot at your local Ace or True Value Hardware store and you can make short custom ones for whatever purpose.
Love your thoughts on the toilet. I do need a trash can. I like the way you did the padding on a straight piece of wood. To that piece I am going to mark an arc on another piece of wood that follows the contour of the bucket and attach that to the piece of wood with the foam so that piece won’t fall off in the middle of use. Thanks for the idea.
hey Kimberly!! yeah everything about bungees drive me nuts!! I HAVE A NEW SOLUTION!!! stay tuned!! yes, I thought of adding something to the contour of the bucket, but it really doesn't slide off, my weight holds it. it was just caving in because it had no support. I believe this will do it. but, like I said, I don't know when I'll be using it again, not sure when I'll be boondocking again without bathrooms. I might use it just for fun and trying it!! LOL
You are the only woman that I know that has a Diamond door handle. What a hoot and a great idea. You are doing so good on getting things all fixed up for your upcoming trip. You go girl!
Great job Lulu! I love it when a good plan comes together!
Well done. What about a scrunchie? Like people use for pony tails … cut and take out elastic and use the fabrics to slide over the bungee cord. ?? Or even make a “sleeve” for the cord using some of your materials ??
thanks for the suggestion!! ❤️
On the bed slat supports, if you put a screw on each end it will be even more stable/sturdy. If the handle doesn't stay stuck you could put a length of paracord through the holes. You could add beads to the paracord to dress it up. On the bungee, you could sew a pocket on a bandana and make it like a skirt. Your little van is so neat. 😀
LOVE your Toilet idea!!
Looking great. You could go ahead and put screws into the handle with expanders. Since you used the tape yo make it flush. Then use your crystals. Great job. Everything looks pretty
A lot of bed frames have the wood slats underneath the mattress. The a closer together and connected
The handle really should be screw directly into metal with appropriate screws. Bob is fantastic but obviously he isn’t a carpenter! Great if him to try though!
I would say it’s nippy in MA. Like here in PA. 🌹Morning Lu !
Love all the bedazzling. Your door handle and bed fringe look fantastic! Someone suggested making “scrunchies” for your bungies (hey it rhymes) which sounds like a great idea. Although I know whatever you come up with will look awesome 🤩 And btw, your toilet solution is brilliant! So compact and dual purpose, bravo 👏
You are so handy , how bout a grass , Ivy type skirt on the Berkey, I'm sure you will come up with something neat ❤
a Hula Berkey!!
Now I need power tools! But maybe duct tape over zip tie ends. Gotta love zip ties!!
Hooray! Looks like you handled that problem successfully 👏 👌 👍
Thanks for the upload 😊🌻
Loved all the improvements. Great job.
Thanks so much! 😊
Love Love your cute little van. Great ideals for your little castle on wheels. Way to go Lulu
I did the same thing with Hotel pillows I fell in love with in Cape Cod. I LOVE these pillows. I also had to order directly from the company..and not cheap, but, well worth it.
Love the diamond 💎 finish to the handle. Ingenious fix!
Lulu
Let me try to explain this idea
If you cut supports and put them under the lattice where support is needed, screw them in on each side of the bed frame. Make the supports so they are within the width of the bed frame so they don’t interfere with anything that is stored under the bed . What’s funny is I had mentioned the sagging when you first built the bed ..oh well. Back to the drawing board…lol
Good luck !!
Karen from Florida 🌴💕
thanks!! but the bed is already fixed, no drawing board to go back to!! 😊
💕💕
Your door handle turned out beautifully!!! What a great idea to secure it to the door!!! ❤️❤️❤️
Using the handle to shut the door works so easily. Will you be adding a handle to the other door?
Your home on wheels is the best one that I have seen. You have done such a fantastic job designing it.
Looking forward to seeing more videos from you.
hello Maureen!! thanks so much!!! no, the other door does not need a handle. I can easily just grab the side of the door and pull it shut. the other one I couldn't without getting my hand caught!! thanks so much for writing!! Lulu 🌷
That is perfect! 💎
The right pillow makes all the difference!
Great little fix-'er-upper video, Lulu! I especially love your bedazzled handle. 💖
Lulu, the littlest things make you happy, like diamonds in the screw holds on the handle. Love all your inventive ideas to solve your problems. Beautiful little second home. I do have a question for you. Do you drive a different vehicle around for shopping when you're home or do you drive your van everywhere?
this van is my daily driver, I have no other vehicle!! just me and my one-seater campervan!!!
You might want to look into some “scrunchie” cord covers to cover the bungees. They are made to cover the cords on hanging lamps. I love the way you’ve decorated your van 🥰
Saw a van like yours...yikes! It's tiny! Your videos on the inside make it seem bigger...the power of good planning. I heartily agree that things don't have to be perfect...they just have to be good enough (and sprinkled with a few diamonds).
everybody that meets my van in person says it's smaller than it looks on youtube. it's tiny!! so when I am considering putting an item in my van, I have to really need it!!!
Good morning Lulu,
You’re a genius!!! You think of everything 😊 I actually had to use the screw driver idea last week when I was putting those eye hooks on my porch to hang Christmas decorations, my fingers were not strong enough so i grabbed me a screw driver and did the same lol, you must be rubbing off on me haha
I was watching you put those zip ties on and wondering why you didn’t put the pokey part to the side or underneath as to not tear your sheets.
Have a good day, love your ideas,
Your Pal, Susie
Lulu. You could use silver bungees
Love that sweatshirt! To cover the bungee cords, you could unhook it and put a sleeve of material on then hook it back up. Maybe zebra print?? 😁
I knew you would figure out how to make the handle work 😊
Lulu, it is freaking cold down here right now. So don't bring any more with you but please be careful on your drive down and watch weather reports to make sure you won't run into bad roads. The lattice is the perfect option for fla with our dampness it will allow air circulation under your mattress and prevent mold and mildew.
I LOVE THE HANDLE! Take a few spare diamonds with you, if they start to fall put, use a drop of glue to secure them.
I was gonna tell you if the hamdle didn't stick with the Alien tape, to drill bigger holes and use a small rope loop for the handle.
I love when you work on your van!
Love the diamonds 💎 in your handle. Thank you for sharing your knowledge to fix basic things 😃 Miles 🐶 and Karen 😊
hi Karen!!! hope you are well!! 😊
Bling Divine!
Love how you improve what you already have. Your van is lovely and I'm excited to follow your adventures in Florida.
I believe in zip ties, bungie cords, gaffer tape and strong magnets! You are turning me into an alien tape believer. I know you are not a fan of the bungie cord but we clearly have some common ground. 🛠️🐭
I'm assuming here that all this alien tape will withstand the heat and humidity of Florida, time will tell!!! they claim it withstands the heat and humidity, so I hope all my projects don't melt!! 🤣
@@LulusWay64 no better test of heat and humidity than Florida (esp in June)
I wonder if nylon drywall anchors would work for your back door?
suction handles used in bath
You’re a genius!
Love all your changes! Awesome job, especially the handle!!!
Great video! Thanx for sharing!
Always loving your videos! ❤
Because the contacts are now even on the bottom the Molly bolts might work
For the handle I mean
Pull the bandanna up to cover bungee😊
RIVETS! 😉👍
Does Bob have a rivet thing?
I don't know.
@Lulu'sway If Handle plan B fails in the summer: --- Try this : HANDLE PLAN X: Hot glue gun get some screws short to fit in the handle and hole of door, then fill door holes with hot glue gun glue.
good idea!!
Lulu dismantled more jewelry and attached it to her door handle. 😆🤣
Loving the updates, thank you for sharing the info on the pillows. I go through a set every couple of years and never really happy with what I get. So look forward to trying these. ❤❤❤
I found them on Amazon, Chuck!! who knew? I think I ordered them from Holiday Inn!! amzn.to/3ReZyxn
I don't know I'm thinking you need to pull the ends of those zip ties all the way to the side of the slats or you're going to get little holes in your mattress cover. I think I would also drill a little hole in each slat and run a zip tie through the hole to secure it to the lattice with zip ties so they don't keep sliding from side to side I'm just saying😘
I think you must have southern blood in your veins lol I use the wooden bed slats from amazon under my twin mattress and they got weak so I had a couple of extras I turned the long way and zip tied to the ones going across. I used a little of the non slip cabinet stuff underneath the ones running long ways just to be sure there was no slipping around. I also use a ton of zip ties, duct tape and thanks to you alien tape. You can sew a little tube from pretty fabric to slide the bungie cords through so the cord doesn't show I use alot of bungie cords. Amazon also has metal zip ties which are awesome for outdoor use because the sun weakens the plastic if you have a use for them in the future. I live right at the Florida line in south Alabama maybe I'll see you pass by lol Enjoy the Florida trip I look forward to watching
Hi . I just love how you are living life on your terms and not letting any grass grow under your feet. The van is looking good ❤
Looking at the inside of your van from outside, it really looks like a small apartment! It is lovely! 😊
Props to Bob for trying to install the door handle ...not everything we do in life is an initial success ...that's why pencils have erasures! 📝😉
Nice touch with the added bling on the handle. 🔷
🌼❇ ...btw, LOVE the "Good Energy" sweatshirt! ❇🌼
hey lulu, your handle fix was ridiculously simple and it turned out really great and it's beautiful too! yaaaay!!!!👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼continued travel mercies and blessings.🕊
Macrame a band for the berkie
A bedazzled door handle! Way to go Lulu!!.
Hi Lulu love your ideas! One thing though. As you know it is hot and humid in Florida. I hope the tape holds up on your handle in that environment.
it claims to hold up to heat and humidity. so I'm trusting that it will. if it doesn't well there will be a lot of melting in my van and a lot of things to fix. and then I'll just fix everything!!!
That’s good it can withstand the heat. Enjoy your time in Florida. I’m not sure if you plan on going to the state parks but we have some nice ones here especially in the Ocala national. I live here, it’s a great state.
Well done!
You are quite the problem solver. Love how you keep trying until you get a solution.
Good Energy!
Perhaps sew a slip cover for the whole Berkey. Might consider insulating it for the warmer weather.
