Hi Lulu, concerning your toilet seat. Don't cut the pool noodle in half. Make a slit halfway through as they will remain round and clip onto rim, and cut it to size of your bucket but the ends of the noodles to sit inside the edge of your bucket. I hope it makes sense. If not I can email you photos of what I mean xxx
Also, you can use pipe insulation, which already has the slit cut in it.
I have done that in a camp with a paint bucket and a pool noodle fixed right onto the lip ...held sturdy people
For your back door you Could
Fasten a Piece of wood Across the Top Of the front Of the Black And turn it Into a Shelf which you can grab to shut the door, more Storage Have fun Marie-Louise
I don't have room in the cubby bin to store uncut pool noodle. the ones cut in half JUST fit in there behind the bucket. I just need to make them more stable, easy fix!!
❤ Hi Lulu, nice to see you, mmmm, I wish leaving that kind of life, in South Africa
Hi Lulu,
Regarding your blue cabinet door. Using small screws and a small chain, measure the length between the top corner of the inside cabinet and corner of the inside cabinet door at the preferred open position. Cut that length of chain and screw one end to inside cabinet wall and other end to inside of cabinet door. Door will only open the length of the chain. 👍
You could do this with a type of nylon webbed ribbon. Thinking of possible rattling. 😂
Good thought on avoiding the rattles.
Love your videos! I recommend that you don’t put the light switch on the bed leg. If you ever need to replace the bed or move its location, you will have to deal with moving the light switch. Instead, install the light switch above your head in a spot that you could reach from both locations where you will need to switch it on/off. It could be installed along that overhead rail where you plan to install the lights. Then you never have to worry about needing to move it.
good suggestion. actually, I've decided to go with a remote on/off/dimmer rather than wall mounted!
With a remote, you can affix small "cups" to the wall and stow the remote whereever you are, near your tissue hanging cubby--or just use some velcro dots. @@LulusWay64
Lulu!! I have several things i have several suggestions.
1. On the "tissue and toothpicks" by your bed. What about using a soft sided eye glass case. And magnetize it to the metal wherever you need it. And if you bump it during the night, it won't leave a mark. 😅
2. The rear bug screen... what about using Tulle? Colors could match what you already have. Put a seam all around to prevent it from shredding. I would suggest using your portable shaed tent in the back and have it even more spacious.
3. The crystal edging might get a bit damaged with the pulling/pushing of the freezer in and out.
4. The purses hanging on each side of your headrest might attract unwanted attention. But, I LOVE the tin looking behind the seat.
5. Peg board instead of lattice for under the mattres.
I think that's it. Im glad you're home safe and look forward to your adventures in Florida!
thanks so much for all the suggestions!! 🌷
Love how meticulously you think out, research and accomplish projects. It is so very cool how so many van dwellers share their best ideas. ❤
Just use your strong hook magnets to help you close the back door. Attach one (or two) to the medal part of the door and use a thick hair tie. Grab the hair tie and pull the door closed.
I didn't think anyone was as detail-oriented as I am about setting things up to be efficient. So nice to find a kindred spirit! I've lived in a couple of small spaces over the years, and it is amazing the places you can find to store things. Even a comfortable lifetyle with all your chosen amenities can be organized to fit in a small space. As a single senior, I now prefer the simplicity of a cozy living area.. leaves more time and energy for fun and leisure! Go, Lulu!
Hi Lulu! I love watching your adventures! For your bed, I would use a half inch plywood. Drill several holes for ventilation. This will last a lot longer than the lattice, even if you reinforce it.
I agree. The lattice will always yield .
yes, I agree. but I am going to work with what I have and fix what I have!!
Lulu, DC to DC charger is when the power of your car alternator is used to charge a battery other than your van battery you use to crank your van. The charger just charges your auxiliary battery and creates the right voltage and current you use to run your fridge, charge phones, etc. The current can also come from solar panels and be converted to dc power. If I got it wrong, forgive me!😊
sounds good!! I would have no idea if you got it wrong!! LOL
The pretty crystals show up better on your coral colored table.
RV vs. home. Whichever one you are with, you long for the other.
You can use gutter screens between your window top and window along with the rain guards. Add mosquito screen behind the guard. Windows will not be down too far and keep bugs out 😍
I realize this video is at least 5 months old, but I've seen people use two belts to hold the water filter in place. Attach the middle of the belts to the cabinet behind the filter and buckle each belt around the upper and lower sections. Unbuckle when needed. Hope you can envision this lol 💕
Careful what you put around your head. Because in accidents things go flying and sometimes hurt you badly.
Hi Lulu! You can make a cover so your food can cool by taking a lid (maybe from an older container, or if you have an extra one). Cut out the middle section - leaving the edge that snaps onto the container - and cut a piece of the screening to replace that piece you cut. Attach it to the “frame” (you’ll need to have made it a bit larger than the piece you cut) and you have a secure cooling lid.
Wouldn't it be easier to just buy those really skinny screens that people use to put over bacon when it's cooking??
those screens you buy are a rigid circle and are usually 12" diameter and I am limited to 11" of space in my cubby bins. so I want one that is not rigid and is foldable, or I can roll it up. I will make my own!!
Blue cabinet. I'd put a small chain on the inside, on each side.
thanks!! that's an option!! 😊
Hi Lulu .. 'horse stall PINE pellets'.. very best for odor & moisture.... glad you enjoyed the Desert SW.💐🐬🐬🐬
I've heard a lot of great stuff about the pine pellets, I don't want to store such a large quantity. plus, I never use the bucket for pee (I pee in a jar) so I'm not needing to absorb a lot of liquids.
Build a cabinet around the berkey
I love your crystal beads, I liked it on the table you might keep hitting it in out of your bed. Also you could put a piece of metal on top of rack by door and decorate and use the magnets you bought.
Get a visor tissue box to put on your wall by your bed
For the cabinet, what you need is called support hinges
thanks!! that's an option!! 😊
Hinge restraints or limiters for drop-down cupboards. Some are better than others ...there are wires, some with settings within the hinge itself. Ask your carpenter friend...he would know.
Put that pretty fringe on the table, much better spot, it pops!
I used to have a flat screened pan cover. Don't know if they still make them. Also, for magnets for your back mosquito curtain...you could use magnetic strips. Maybe insert in the hems(?). At first, I thought the beaded trim would look great on your headboard, but that jingling might "hurt your brain." Love that.
yeah, don't wanna hurt my brain! LOL
Yea ---- I've seen those at Kroger's
Called splatter screen ❓
How about little chains inside your top blue cabinet...that way you won't see them when closed. Also, how about a wide drawer pull type handle on your back door.
thanks for your suggestions!! 🌷
27:00 -ish. , lol. here’s my idea for a catch for the blue cabinet door 2 small lengths of thin chain, and those eye hooks- they come in a million sizes- you attach the little length of chain to the eye hooks- one hook goes inside the side wall of the cupboard , the other goes on inside of the door. Hopefully that makes sense? I too have a growing list of changes I’ll make while I’m off the road, so I totally get it. I’m excited about it, though, I really enjoy the DIY projects on my lil camper☺️
oh, I enjoy the DIY projects too. the only think I'm not enjoying is doing all of these projects in the cold garage!! brrrrr!!
Small chains and small screws will keep the door open. Someone may have mentioned it already but..if not…(my grandpa built a beautiful secretary/china cabinet as an engagement gift. The small, decorative chains that have lasted 100 years now!
Hey Lulu, you have light orbs flying around you in this video. I’ve seen it three times. Go back and look, you can see them good up against the black of your blouse. They must travel with you. They protect you while you are OTR. That is so cool.
very cool!!!
A little leather loop on back door would work to close it. Lots of van dwellers use them on cabinets in place of knobs bc they don’t stick out which could be a safety issue.
Make diy ice packs and place on bottom or top of your food storage containers. Place a flower sack towel over the top to cool down and keep bugs out
thanks for your suggestions!! 🌷
I like the beads on the bed. Your van is beautiful.
Lulu ~ for your toliet, if you keep the pool noodle whole, measure the circumference of the bucket, cut the noodle to size, then put a slice on the bottom of the noodle and fit unto bucket! That would stay in place and be more comfortable! Wish you well!
❤ Cynthia, Ron, n Dolly Dog
i thought of bamboo cane for this
really so interesting. i’m comparing your van to Luann’s, is yours much larger? i love that you have a cooking area inside. Luann’s was more like camping out because she had to go outside to cook anything. i did notice that you at one point rested something on the lid of the cooler while cooking and i don’t know what that lid is made of but it seems like it would be good in a smooth vinyl if it’s not already, so it could be wiped clean and easier to move around on when you sit on it. love the crystal tassels for the side piece of the bed!
hello Cynthia!! nice to hear from you!! hope you and Ron and Dolly Dog are doing well!! ❤️ the only thing with the pool noodle being all one piece is that it won't fit in my cubby bin to store. that's why I have two pieces, each cut the exact height of the bin. I'm trying to make this set up work, just not to sink down (lol) my friend Bob was over yesterday and we've got a solution, YAY!! 😊
@donnapecoraro3126 . . . Luanne's van is longer than mine (my floor space if 4x7, hers is 4x8. they are both 4 ft wide in space. but I've got a higher roof which gives me a more spacious feel. also, hers is not a dedicated camper, she needs to disassemble the build and return back to passenger van, when her trips are over. by having it a dedicated camper, you can more easily set it up to be able to do everything inside.
You could put a piece of peg board on your coat hanger thing, it would also add support so your S hooks are more stable.
Map holder on wall - right of your driver’s seat. Maybe a vertical wire basket? Fun tweaks!
great ideas, thanks! 😊
27:04 Chains
Love your set-up 😍 LOVE your hair 😘 And it’s a treat listening and watching you ❤️🫶
thanks so much, Kim, for such a sweet note, I appreciate it!! 💕
Re your tissue holder, get some zebra print fabric, pvc or line a woven one, make it like a length ways sachet, with opening for tissues and a tiny attached bit for your toothpicks, attach to the wall by Velcro strip sewn on back and the glue bit on the wall..et voila!
thanks for the suggestion!! 🌷
Surgical shoe covers over your shoes (when inside the van) helps keeps the dirt out .
Electricity hurts my brain too... I let people do it that knows. Thanks for everything you share
Maybe the Alien Tape would work to secure the Berkey to the Table. Like, if you put Alien Tape on the bottom and side of the Berkey to secure it to the table it sits on and cabinet next to it. Just a thought. Anyway, I love your van, you have a really nice style and it looks so cozy and practical.
My vote is put the prism - like strip thingy on the bed frame, over the frig. Not on the desk/art piece.
Re securing the Berkey, I wonder if leather straps would secure it better. Would have to have really secured “buckles” or some such thing attached to the wooden cabinet. Or, thick nylon straps (like seatbelt material) might work. Ratchet straps, perhaps.
I would put a sewn or crocheted wall pocket next to the bed for your tissues. It would be nice and sift if you roll into it during the night. As for the bucket toilet, I thought it might be uncomfortable so I got a folding camp toilet instead. Pretty much the same thing, but has a real seat and folds up very small. I got the tallest one I could find.
A good idea for your blue cabinet would be a couple of eye hooks and some chain on the inside.
Lulu, could you see small fishing weights or washers in a hem on the bottom of your big screen to keep the wind from blowing it? Or maybe elastic in a casing across the bottom which would tuck in under your bumper. Just an idea I had. Good luck!
For tissues and toothpicks on the side where the seat belt holder was it came to mind a soft sided oblong cosmetic holder Velcro to the area you just unzip and zip back up
To cover your food container, consider a microwave splatter screen, red beads by smartwares. They're made of a breathable mesh and have small red weighted beads to hold it in place for any shape of container. And, they're flat.
I love the crystal fringe! I would hang it on the desk because it makes more of a statement there. It stands out better. On the bed it competes with the red and white bin. I say make it POP!
Berkery I would try furnace piping strapping with the holes in metal strapping t straps would probably work
They make flat splatter screens for frying splatter free. They would work for keeping flies out as well.
Your blue cabinet door - screw a little chain inside the cabinet wall and put the other end on the back of the door. Small screws and some sort of chain you like. Crystals - I think it would look great on the front of the table. If it’s on the bed rail it will get in the way of pulling out the fridge.
I've seen another van lifer with a Berkey that used leather belts from the thrift store to secure theirs. They cut it down to the size they needed, attached the belt to the wall and used the buckle to be able to secure it in place, or open the buckle if they needed to clean it. I have a travel size Berkey so I filed that idea away! I don't know if that might be an idea you can use or not, but maybe worth considering.
Hi Lulu, maybe I be in Florida later this winter, homeless right now, car needs battery, I think. We'll see on Monday, staying with a friend, really love your travels, Stopping in Oak Island NC, the. plant City FL. Had a place hereafter moving, but wasn't down in LEWES Delaware, Really excited about this life style, follow you, Minivan Lee, GLOW, and Bob Wells. I learned a lot from you guys very new to this lifestyle. Thank you for all your help and information. Thank you
i sooo... hear ye about electricity lulu. ok! here's my say about your van ideas in as few words as possible for me. i can tell ye the dc to dc charge solution with your solar should meet all your power needs. did that include a 2nd alternator? a shore power plug is a good thing to have too. please know there are ways to do the shore power much better than an extension cord out your window. i am thinking you will not like that at all. something to consider. new lights, nice. it's good to have a light switch by your bed and one by your "main" entrance into your van if possible for convenience and safety especially at night. i love, love your new outdoor rug. a pvc pipe black or white or both to house your rug and caps for both ends will contain the dirt, dust, sand, lit'l rocks and bugs from making their way throughout your van. love all your ideas to better utilize the spaces on your driver's side. and your fringe with crystals are fabulous. both places looked really, really great especially by your bed. butt... will pulling your freezer and bins in and out be a prob? i have seen berkey's held in place with thrift store fine belts. you could also use nylon webbing used to make dog leashes, lots of patterns to choose from or back in the day for beach and patio chairs, lots of color choices. the screen covers or food grade, easy to wash material for your food is another excellent idea. maybe using elastic like how hair nets or shower caps are made even if your dish is square or rectangle. and lots, lots and lots of strong magnets for your diy back door bug screen with decent size bias tape for the magnets. your lace or sheer curtain thrift store fine is another fabulous idea too. and i think it's a winterized piping from hd or lowe's that might be more efficient than your pool noodle for your loo. or cut like that piping to be more stable. sorry, i still used too many words... take care lulu. stay warm. you'll be in florida before ye know it. continued travel mercies and blessings.🕊
lots of great ideas to think about, THANKS!! 😊
Two more considerations, you could use a magnetic and hanger strap for a door handle. Also, there are stainless steel hose clamps that are big enough to fit around your berkey, just put a small screw through it attaching it to your counter top. The band is adjustable so you can remove your berkey for cleaning. If you're worried about scratching your berkey, just line the berkey side of the clamp with a thin piece of foam or something to pad it.
thanks for your suggestions!! 🌷
The black rubber bungee is prob the width of the ss clamp (put bungee under strap so won't scratch Burkey
👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍👍
You might check out a video "Honda Element Micro Camper. No Build Design" by Days We Spend.
They used Dunnage Racks and the way they can be adapted to small spaces is brilliant. They are designed for professional kitchen storage and can hold up to 800 pounds.
LUV You & your adorable van! A few suggestions to address some of your issues. First I know how health consious you are so plesse don't use non food grade screen to cover your food as it cools. Large food grade grade mesh bags for making nut milk would be perfect. They don't take up hardly any space and they are washable. I use them all the time at picnics to keep the pests out. Your esthetics are so beautiful I would hate to see an ugly bolt to close your back door. How about an interesting antique cabinet pull or you can use a sturdy piece of belt to mount a small loop. That same belt can be used to secure your Burkey. You might even find something in a pretty black & white pattern in a thrift store. Oh and I have a suggestion for the space over your cabinets. I saw that there is a metal material kind of like those flexible cutting boards that you can cut to whatever shape you need and adheir then to any surface. Then you can just glue magnets to whatever little baskets you want access to. Love the ones you already have. Hope some of this helps and I look forward to all your videos. My own health issues prevent me following your path so I live vicariously through your travels. I wish you safe and happy trails. You are just lovely and your joy for life is contagious!😊
thanks for all of your suggestions!!
For your blue cupboard, you could attach chain or thin rope to the inside, on each side. That would make it a good ledge that could take a bit of weight.
Hi Lulu - offering a replacement for your tiny s-hooks. I use mDesign Hanging Closet Storage Hook ... If you find the need to brace the back more, then I would fashion a lattice design between the existing frame using Decoroca Soft Plant Ties for Support (they have them in black color). I guess it is not easy to explain what I am envisioning as a solution.
Screen solution for your food (or use these items as design inspiration) check out the different size frying pan splatter screens from U.S. Kitchen Supply Set of 4 Classic Splatter Screens, 13", 11.5", 10", and 8" - Stainless Steel Fine Mesh. I use these screens and silicone splatter screens of varying sizes.
OMG, that's it!! those hooks!! I've never seen such a thing, it will work perfect!! THANKS!!!
One other safety point Lulu, I wouldn’t put bins by your head. If, god forbid, you get in an accident you don’t need anything near your chair.
Just my opinion, but if you put that beautiful crystal beading on your bed frame (that you mentioned at 39:06) you will fight it, getting it out of the way, every time you need to pull out your freezer to get your ice blocks.
I like it so much better on your cabinet. You will be able to see it from anywhere.
Just my humble suggestion. Always loving your videos, Vicki
YES !!! The dc to dc charger will do what you need!! Great improvement ideas !!! the beads would be better on the desk because you might break some off taking your bins in and out
I thought the beads would look good on the trellis above the bed.
So many of us love you dearly ! You’re having a blast enjoy yourself !
Hi Lulu. Why not put a piece of peg board behind there so you can hang lots of S-hooks, or a small sheet of stainless to put your new magnets on. That’ll still look pretty with the black of the wire frame you have there.
thanks for the suggestions!!! I'm going to the thrift store tomorrow and will look around for some ideas. I'll keep your ideas in mind, THANKS!! 😊
I like the dangles on the orange where you can see it from your bed
I have the same Berkey and I keep it on my kitchen counter in my hightop van. I built a little wooden box that the Berkey sits in but I’ve notched out where the spout is. I don’t even have to bungee mine because the box works well enough. The box is about 4 inches high. I would send you a picture, but I’m not sure how to do it on TH-cam.
Hi lulu, I just found you a few days ago and I have to say, I am in love with you. Your attitude is amazing, You look beautiful and you are an inspiration. I am buying a Van in the Spring and I sure hope that someday I meet up with you. I am 76 And you and some of the other seniors on the road inspire me and help me feel confident that I can do this too.
hello!! and thank you so much for such a lovely note!! I'm so happy to know you enjoy my channel so much, thanks for letting me know that!! stay inspired and hopefully we'll see you down the road sometime!! Lulu 😊
For your screen for your food.... get a thin elastic and sew around the edges of the screen. It will be just enough to cover your food and will still be easy to store. Just a thought.
Light switch: consider having two put in. One by the bed and one closer to the door so even before you enter the van you can switch the light on and clearly see your way in as well as check out the van for ‘visitors’ before you enter.
Blue cabinets: how about that wire that's made to hold/support horizontal doors, just googled and they are called "cabinet door restraints." Bed - piece of plywood drill holes in it for ventilation (if that's the reason you used lattice-mold) Berkey support - I saw someone who used old belts to secure their Berkey, could find some pretty ones at the thrift store.
thanks so much for all the suggestions!! 🌷
Agree with other comments.. the beautiful jewelled fringe is more eye-catching on the shelf. It looks attractive on the bed but will drive you nuts catching on the bin every time you pull it out. Cut down leather strap or small dog collar for the handle. For the hooks, could you possibly attach an over - the - door hanger there instead. Just one piece then. The lace would also look great but it'd be better black or dark coloured because it would get grubby quickly. Maybe a beautiful sheer instead of the lace because the midges may get through the more open weave. Anyway I'm sure you'll come up with your usual ingenious solutions. Happy tweaking. 🦋
thanks for your suggestions!!
On the pretty little blue cabinet door holding it up
Find a pretty little chain to attach --- there are even retractable ones
You could use those magnets to fix your cabinet door from opening
thanks Steve!! yes, Bob was over yesterday and he thinks I just need to add two additional magnets to that cabinet and that should keep it closed!!
We r cold IN A. TOO. MAKE URSELF A CANDALABRA BED. PUT CRYSTALS ON FRONT OF BED
GOOD LUCK WITH PROJECTS.
Regarding your food cooling off, you could buy one of those netted food domes. Usually used at picnics.
I would love to get one of those but, like I said in the video, I don't have the space to store a dome shaped one!! oh well!!
Yes to the bed fringe!
Learning electricity hurts your brain! I can truly relate! My dad was into all that, but it's not really something I care to learn about! I'll rely on people who know what they are doing to take care of it! LOL! Love your videos and love seeing your recent travels in Arizona! How awesome! Keep them coming! I love watching your adventures! ❤❤
I just noticed a space on your wall between the thing above your bed that has the dragon fly on it and your umbrella. If you could mount a tissue box and toothpick holder there. You could reach it from your bed and it will not be in your way at all when getting in and out of your van. If you use industrial strength Velcro it will hold it until the weather gets warmer. It will then get hot and peel off. If you could attach magnets to the back of the tissue holder then it will stick up there.
thanks for the suggestion, Gayle!! 🌷
Lulu the bling looks great on the bed. Many great ideas. Thank you for sharing
Hi Lulu i from Indiana we’re having snow right now be safe and stay healthy
My idea for the side of your bed on the right on the wall is to have a system for a roll of toilet paper instead of tissue. For ma van, I simply have a bungie I insert in a toilet paper.
thanks for the suggestion!!! 😊
Youhave the best of both worlds being able to escape the winter months. I’m like you, upgrade when things need to be done, love the way you live such a simple life.
I think all of your ideas are good one and worth taking care of. Some of those things you would not know until
you lived with them and tried them out. Everything you mentioned made sense to me.
I think a board for your bed would be better or some kind of firm foam on top of a more solid frame. And I like the jewels on the cupboard rather than the bed. I think it would show up more and also be more visible when sitting on your cooler.
Have fun with all of your projects. And since I know nothing about electricity and batteries, I hope your solution does the job that you need for it to do.
thanks so much for the suggestions!! 🌷
Fabric bowl covers would be easy to use and store.
The beads would work better on table, beads on bed frame might interfere with sliding freezer in and out of under bed, take lattice out and do thin slats the length of bed, top blue cupboard attatch a chain to inside ,then on door that flips down, just ideas
thanks for your suggestions!! 🌷
WELCOME TO FLORIDA...SOON
From Deland, Florida...near Daytona...
I'm a "newbie"....Just decorated a mini van ..I call her "GYPSY SOUL"..Am going to camp with my sister in January...She has a Ford Transit rig. Both are white... You may see us on the byways of Brevard and Flagler or Volutia County...HAPPY TRAILS! ❤
hello! have fun traveling with your sister, what a blast!! 😊
I so love how well set up you have things. Agree with the board w/hooks - am sure there is a small something like that on Amazon ( they seem to have everything) or ACE hardware, Home Depot etc. As for the blue cabinet - how about a chair or some sort attached on each end of the cabinet door so when it is open it will lay flat and let you also have the bottom one open. I don't think the chain would make much if any noise while driving.
The lattice - well not surprised it did the sagging. I figured it would but didn't say something when you were building it. The wood slats have helped that .... maybe not a permanent fix because you may feel them when you neal to get in or out of bed. The outside rug! Bingo - looks good and just a nice size for you. I also have a small one for my van when I go. I have a dodge roadtrek for camp or travel but limited storage so a small rug like that works well. Easy to keep clean and rolls up nice to pack and take along.
Pull handle would be good. I am sure you or your friend with come up with something that works great for you.
Enjoyed the video's of your travels and looking forward to more! Be safe, enjoy life and many hugs.
thanks so much for all the suggestions!! 🌷
For your bed, take a piece of ply wood, put the cross beams in and drill holes in the ply wood for air flow. This will give you a stronger bed structure and stability for your bed.
You could also try bedpan liners, as they are made to absorb waste.
You've got some great ideas. I've seen people use leather belts to attach their berkey. You could just screw them in. or put a bolt in with a washer. Your cute trim above the bluetti will make the lights reflect and be pretty. Over the freezer may get in the way when pushing it back in. I use bigger S hooks from amazon. They do move but are bigger and would hold your coat. Myfolrena 20-Pack S Hooks for Hanging, 3.4 Inch Metal S Shaped Hook Heavy Duty Hanging Hooks for Pots, Pans, Plants, Bags, Cups, Clothes (Silver). Can you screw an RV handle into your back door plastic? They are plastic. I have white. Don't know if they come in black. Or maybe just a drawer handle.
thanks so much for all the suggestions!! 🌷
Bedside commode liners have been a game changer for me. Turn everything into a gel and they take very little space. They are not cheap, but they are worth it. I love how you love to tweak. I love to always optimize things in my life. I had an older Transit Connect that I had to get rid of as I could not find a person to work on it mechanically, nor help me with some of the Van stuff. So frustrating when you are willing to pay and cannot find a person willing to work. I got a new Pacifica and am loving it too, but, because it is so new, I cannot tweak it too much, 🤣would love to put a few screws in a few optimal places, but alas, just cannot do it. Look forward to seeing your projects when they get done.
Re your mat it was me Lulu, you replied to me at the time and said you thought it was a great idea I'm so glad it worked out 👏 with your Birkie perhaps Bob could put some attachable metal strapping up that can go around it, I'm a part time van adventurer too and space saving and securing stuff consumes our thoughts sometimes and you know what? I reckon it's great fun 🙂 love and peace from Australia as always Lulu 🦘😘
he Ellie!! yes, it was you!!! I would have never thought of that spot. I hate things in my way. but it's not in my way!! thanks to you!!! thanks for all your suggestions!! 🌷
Lulu, first of all I just love you and your videos! I was thinking in the blue shelf you could add a chain inside to hold it open. And on the back door, perhaps a piece of black leather for a pull? You can recycle an old belt by cutting the length you want.
thanks so much for the suggestions!! 🌷
Maybe use that lovely light green edging behind your seat on that bare wall. I think your freezer would pull on it sliding in and out and your covers may hide or disturb it as well. Would a belt cut to the right size work for your rear door as a pulling handle?? If it is black you would hardly notice it. That’s all the suggestions I’ve got for today Lulu!! You’ll get it all fixed up, as you always do! Enjoy the fun process. Cheers Debbie ♥️🙂♥️
thanks for your suggestions!! I like the idea of a belt for the handle pull for the rear door!! I will look in thrift store tomorrow, it's senior day!! lol
I like the bead valance on the table
God willin' you live and learn. Old timer RV'ers always say, wait until you experience RV life in different ways before you make changes, because you WILL make changes. So happy you have a creative and skilled friend who will help you achieve your vision. Thanks for sharing.
Lulu there's a channel with the same van as yours on 'Static Campervan' and his bed build and berkey filter is in his van and it's a smart build. He's friendly and kind too
Yes! This is where I saw the Ikea slats! He has a video from this past summer showing the build.
oh yes, I like him. Scott!!!
Lulu,on Amazon they have a powder that make the liquid a solid. It's in a plastic jar, not big. You just add a little and do your business and it hits the powder and turns to solids.
yes, I've heard of that powder. but I don't pee in that bucket so the moisture is minimal. I pee in a jar!! 😊
Get pipe insulation from Home Depot for your bucket. It has a split in it and it will fit around the top of your bucket and store easy. I don't have a van but I have already built one out in my mind.
Every trip I do something to improve my Van's. an easy way to make those cupboards hang down and make a sturdy shelf is to add some chain or rope supports cut just right to give you a shelf when they are open...keep on having fun with it...
