After watching Karl's video, this entire case can be summed up like this: Billy Mitchell hasn't won the lawsuit. He's score is still not accepted in official leaderboards, his still banned from Twin Galaxies as a whole and Twin Galaxies hasn't apologised for claiming that he has cheated. The only thing Billy was able to get was a settlement where Twin Galaxies would show in an archive that he had been once on their leaderboard. Ehh... Shame that we couldn't see Billy make a clown out of himself in the court, but understanding from Twin Galaxies perspective considering how much a trial can cost. I used to work closely with the legal department for an entertainment companys headquarters. Sometimes when a settlement is done, and usually the goal is to reach a settlement, there are stipulations. I have heard the guys in my office say “we are going to give x amount of money to drop the case but he can’t say xyz on social media”. I am not a lawyer and I don’t work quite close enough to know what happens if that clause is broken, but yeah, just saying if there is a settlement and a strange silence over a certain topic it is probably because the lawyers on at least one side has ordered something not to be talked about and signed a contract on it.
Same can be said for Republicans and their obsession with their supreme leader Trump. Some people, no matter what evidence they can be shown, will turn a blind eye to it and support the person no matter what bullshit they have done, and will never believe otherwise. It's just people out to bring them down so to speak.
I understand how you feel, and I feel similar but it's not mind-blowing at all. Think about it, us internet people tend to be gamers, lots of us are. Some of us have been gaming for decades and decades. Some of us were there at the start. To me and many others it is so obvious he cheated. I used to work closely with the legal department for an entertainment companys headquarters. Sometimes when a settlement is done, and usually the goal is to reach a settlement, there are stipulations. I have heard the guys in my office say “we are going to give x amount of money to drop the case but he can’t say xyz on social media”. I am not a lawyer and I don’t work quite close enough to know what happens if that clause is broken, but yeah, just saying if there is a settlement and a strange silence over a certain topic it is probably because the lawyers on at least one side has ordered something not to be talked about and signed a contract on it.

Some of us have been gaming for decades and decades. Some of us were there at the start. To me and many others it is so obvious he cheated. Now think of your average person, living their average life. You think some normie could tell shit about cheating in a modern game? Let alone a ancient one? Now you add an "expert" throwing them off the scent with plausible sounding reasons why Billy was innocent (again not plausible in reality if you know the subject matter but if you don't you can easily fall for this) and the TG lawyers clearly fucking up majorly and that's how we get to here.
Also bear in mind that Billy still has Karl Jobst to contend with, and there's like a 0.1% chance he's winning that case. Even if something is settled out of court, he'll still need to pay Karl's legal fees back thanks to Australian law
