    Dear Emeka,
Firstly, the man from Cameroun seeks traction the wrong way. He knows of a fact that Nico Mbarga sang highlife but NEVER SANG MAKOSSA whose great exponent was Uncle Manu Dibango.
    2. Prince Nico Mbarga was born of a Nigerian Mother, in Abakaliki capital of Ebonyi State in Igbo land (Nigeria). Mbarga's father was Camerounian.
    3. Prince Nico Mbarga lived and was trained to sing all his songs including Sweet Mother, in Nigeria.
    4. He died in Calabar in Cross River State (Nigeria). His children even erected a statue in IKOM (Cross River State) where he lived, to honour him.
    5. Emeka-Imasuen-Folarin, the chap in the video seeks recognition. He knows that any reference to NIGERIA on social media catches GOLD regardless of the content.
    6. As for you Emeka-Imasuen-Folarin, all Naija pikins wish you Gold. May your Communication Channels all bring you massive traction of Gold. My beloved Naija people❤ please say Amen!

To say the truth,Nigeria artists sample makosa alot, like flavour and many more, and Nigerians love makosa beat, that is why Nigeria artists fuse makosa in Afrobeat, and that is why Cameroon fans like Nigeria music becus,Nigeria artists have fuse there culture into Afrobeats, and add pidgin English to it, we are still 1 people,1 African,me as a Nigeria I love makosa I grow with it,back then,

Nico Mbarga (1 January 1950 - 23 June 1997),[1] better known as Prince Nico Mbarga, was a Cameroonian-Nigerian highlife musician, born to a Nigerian mother and a Cameroonian father in Abakaliki, Nigeria.[2] He is renowned for his hit song "Sweet Mother", recorded with his band Rocafil Jazz, which has been described as the best-selling song in history by an African recording artist.[3]

His song was in english and pidgin instead of french. I personally didnt even know his father was a cameroonian until he died. He lived and died a nigerian. All these are products of hate

Teejay thanks for you insight as usual.Makossa was a big sound back then.In fact bigger than Azonto.Just put the population of Southern & Eastern Nigeria + all the french speaking Countries in Africa listening and vibing to it.
At one point while Nigeria had Fela,Ghana had Osibisa and Cameroon had Manu Dibango.Go and research it.Sweet Mother song by Mbarga he was talking about was very huge then and now.The sound was highlife/ Nigeria sound not your typical Makosa genre done by Cameroonian artistes i.e Grace Decca or Petit Pays. Finally Mbarga Mom is Nigerian of igbo descent and his Dad is Cameroonian/ Francophone descent. He stayed in Nigeria more than he ever did in Cameroon hence his music was mostly in Pidgin English and Igbo.I still remember the Cameroonian asking him to do sweet Father after the success of sweet mother which he did but was not a success at all.

If I had seen that Cameroonian dude i will simply call him a bush man. Sampling of popular songs is as old as anything. The dude is talking as if we are unaware of song samplings in Nigeria. Song sampling is part of modern music art. It's no big deal. If its complete sampling, you give credits and pay sometimes. If it's partial, you just give credits. As a matter of fact Nigerians actually sample more from our older musicians, legends. Of course our artists sample songs from other lands and that is part of what make us tick in this business. We are very good at it. A couple of Amapiano songs from SA have been made popular by our artist's and the DJ's are aware and gave consent. Artists from US, UK, Latin America all sample songs from other lands or within. Below are songs Nigerian artists have sampled and made them popular. 👇🏾
    1. Burna boy sampled Brandy - 'Sitting on top of the world'.
    2. Sampled Toni Braxton - 'He wasn't man enough'. Braxton have not stopped thanking Burna boy for what he did with the song.
    3. He took from our big oga Fela Kuti in 'sorrow'.
    4. Soukous Stars as far back as 1994 'LAGOS NIGHT' sampled Prince Nico Mbarga Christiana, Sweet mother, Oriental brothers etc all Naija hit songs then.
    5. They equally sampled Kenyan hit songs in NIAROBI NIGHTS.
    6. P Square & Phyno's - 'Bank Alert' was taking from Onyeka Onwenu's 'Iyogogo'
    7. Flavour's Ashawo remix which was a worldwide monster hit was from Cardinal Rex Jim Lawson of the blessed memory.
    8. Ayra Starr - 'Sability' was taking from Awilo Logomba 'Bamba coupe'. And he loves Nigeria more anyone till date and still visits regularly.
    9. Ayra Starr - 'Sare' taking from Lijadu sisters Oréré Olejigbo
    10. Wizkid 'Jaiye Jaiye' is from Fela Kuti's 'Lady'.
    11. Davido sampled Kojo Funds ' 'Don talking' on his "IF" monster worldwide hit track.
    12. Flavour's Nwa Baby hit the beat was taking from Chaka Demus & Pliers. Etc
These people are simply envious bcos nobody stops you from sampling other's songs. If they think it's easy let them try. By the a lot of them are not free. Our guys pay for these samplings bcos they're someone's intellectual property.
Thank you TeeJay as usual for giving an honest opinion as usual. 🙏🏾🙏🏾✅✅🇳🇬🙌🏾

  • @osakweog
    @osakweog 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

First things first........Prince Nico Mbarga was born of Cameroon father and a Naija mother. He was bred and made in Nigeria by Ide Rodgers Okonkwo the Chairman of Rogers AllStars Studios inside his Onitsha studios and in Awka Anambra state Nigeria. Same man made a lot of Ghanaian Highlife Bands of the 80's like Canadoes & Okukuseku etc. He made Bright Chimezie, Ikenga Super Stars of Africa etc all of the 70's, 80's and 90's. Cameroonians have a right to claim him bcos he was born by a Cameroonian . However we made him and own his brand including that Sweet mother song. It was known more as a Nigerian song bcos it was made in Nigeria. He does makossa and sometimes highlife. Cameroon didn't contribute anything to his life. We did. He died in Nigeria. His family are all still living in Nigeria. Fair play to them they have a right to him, but we made him and his songs.
