I think Genichiro is probably the most important boss/tutorial in the game. Hes placed in the first half of the game as the perfect test to see if you're playing the game right and ready for what comes later. If you've been Forest Gumping your way through the game so far he will make sure you don't leave him until you're a proper shinobi.

Genichiro is the best boss in this game. A complete skillcheck. Beating him felt amazing. He forces you to really understand combat in Sekiro and the rest of the game becomes easier after you pass him
yeah man he was a great fight he really teaches you how to play must have tried 50× only made it to his 3rd phase a handful of times but Cowboys guide was so good.
True, and Isshin made me finally understand why mastering Mikiri is so important. Just destroyed the tutorial version of Genichiro in the NG+ and now i want a DLC.
Got to him yesterday the first time with 1 healing gourd. The 2nd time I faced him, I beat his 2nd phase and thought, "hell yeah!", only to find out about the 3rd phase. :( I agree though, he's the complete package and really does make you understand combat. There is a point around the late-early game where it all starts clicking.
The perfect AI tracking never goes away. This game has the cheapest most unnatural AI ever. One bullshit cheap encounter after another. I beat him very early in the game, it is just cheap and not fun in my opinion. You can literally feel the game forcing you to play exactly how it wants you to, deviate and fuck you.
FINALLY just beat him after getting a good night sleep and staying aggressive as hell. Fought him like 20 times yesterday but got him on my second try today, sometimes you just gotta take a break and come back another day
just fought him last night after dying about 10 times to him beat second stage like a breeze just by being aggressive as hell i kept dodging the lightning instead of catching it though 😂
iv found that a bunch of bosses don't know how to handle u as well if ur aggressive and get that mikiri counter down pat. I beat the dude my 3rd try including his cute lil surprise 3rd phase (which thank God was the easiest out of the 3)... the only thing that would get me everytime is his arrow shots when I tried to heal. if u go in there hit him 3 time n stop to see if he counters, than continue rinse repeat and if u don't have a handle on mikiri counters, than just side step or jump (phase 1), than he gets a lil more aggressive himself, starts getting cute with his bow but keep the same concept of, go in hit 2 or 3 time, pause n continue. the pauses should only be to see what he gonna do next, but other than that stay on him, block is arrows if u can n get his posture bar up both phase one and two is all about breaking his posture bar (as most fights should be) rather than whittling down his health! NEVER worry about bosses health bars, focus on breaking posture n once u do it don't matter if they have 75% of their health bar, because u can deathblow the whole thing...the surprise 3rd phase is more of the same, aggressive, deflect or dodge his lighting and his posture breaks pretty easily In phase 3. good luck everone!

You gotta stay on him lol. if you have the "temple arts" skill tree unlocked (found at Mt. Kongo) with praying strikes than you become the boss lol. You are throwing yourself at him/using kicks to build his posture with ease. Deflect and L1+R1+R1 combo with an occasional Mikiri counter. This guy becomes a joke when you realize that Sekiro is all about posture build-up into a deathblow and NOT clean hits like Dark Souls/Bloodborne.

Old comment, but I'm replying to it for anyone reading the replies that doesn't know. How fast anyone's posture bar goes down (including Wolf) depends on their health. If their health is low, posture recovers very slowly. This is why it's never a bad idea to focus on dealing damage to their health before getting super aggressive against their posture.

when he does his jumping attack to thrust/sweep (as seen at 1:23) i found that you can actually press B (mikiri counter) and then instantly after press A (jump) so if he is doing a thrust, you would have done the mikiri counter, but if it turns out he was doing a sweeping attack, then after the dodge animation of B, you would have already jumped and been able to kick him if you pressed A early enough, hope this helps.
i also found that after the jump in second phase you can doge the sweep or the thrust by dash jumping to the right and i like to use the two sweep as it goes through his defense and he always tries to block it which interrupts whatever he was about to do. This is how you can keep him on your terms for at least 3-4 clashes. generally play defensive and learn the rythm and if you really need to beat him, don't waste opportunities to kill him lol. Also the two sweep ability for your left and right MB also can catch him out of one of his dodge to swipes he sometimes pull out of nowhere though i don't recommend risking it.

Just a heads-up (and to add to Cowboy's awesome advice): For the lightning attack in phase 2, notice how Cowboy loses some health. If you hold down block when you jump and then counter with the attack to redirect the lightning, you don't take that damage. Very minor, but sometimes health is at a premium.
I know I'm a year late but I fought the guy for hours last night lol and was so mad when I finally got to phase 3 just to get 3/4 of the waycthere and dying. When I jump hold block? And than before landing hit r1? I'm at work right now and I'm just trying to research the fuck outta this fight before I'm home and get back to it.
4 years late** lol I'm on a from software kick. I beat demon sould back in the day, got pretty far in DS1 and DS3. Couldn't get past the first mob in bloodborne. Lol but I loved eldenring and just plat. It (my only other Plat being returnal) went back and beat bloodborne (3 trophies away from plat) but sekiro is a whole different ballgame! I love it it feels like a real sword fight but it's hard as FUCK.
@@lukecapelli1971 way i did it was i jumped as soon as i saw any yellow on my screen (lightning) , immediately after jumping, like almost instantly, i pressed block, then quickly after that, BEFORE HITTING THE GROUND, i pressed attack.
I've been dying to this boss for a long time, trying to learn his moveset and anticipate his combos, but with this guide it just clicked, and I beat him first try after I watched it. That advice to Mikiri just after the mark and to jump lightning likewise is gold, Jerry, gold.
He was definitely my first wall but its really good training. Once you finally beat him your skill is improved many times over. Its very satisfying to defeat him easily in the following playthoughs.

After I beat the butterfly the game kinda clicked for me. The boss right before this guy teaches you that defense can sometimes be way better than offense and more importantly(since almost every boss i fought so far you gotta be aggressive lol), teaches you combo deflects. I normally play souls games with a controller on my pc because it feels better but for the butterfly i had to switch to keyboard n mouse to get the job done like deflecting by right clicking is just magical and i got 2 buttons on the side of my mouse i put one to jump and the other to dodge and after that all you need is wasd and your mouse gliding like butter(flies lol sorry) Lady butterfly is when i understood theres a rhythm to the game and when the swords spark after you attack, stop attacking and prepare to deflect. I tried this guy only twice so far and the second attempt i deleted his first health bar and half of his posture in round 2 before i let him kill me bc i realized that i might be too early to fight him i only killed the butterfly and horseboi so far in terms of big bosses i killed that purple magic guy and stuff but im trying to figure out if i should even be here attempting him i only got 4 gourds and 2 prayer necklaces and im hoping the game doesnt just jump into 10x harder mode after him or something lol i just been running around exploring and then i hit the top and now im wondering if i should do other stuff before him or am i alright to do it? The butterfly was my first boss and it was only after i memorized everything about her battle that i realized i was too early for her lol it sure taught me tho but im no souls god its just important to be patient and learn everything by dying constantly and applying what you learned next time until its over. Dont let your emotions(mainly anger) cloud your brain processing as this is what happens to most people. Happy New Year and a Merry Git Gud, you scrubs. Jizou statues are not required. You can run around looking for minibosses and prayer beads, but 2 necklaces should be enough. You might want to farm 999 emblems before killing Genichiro, though. There is inflation in Ashina, I blame the FED. The most important thing with Genichiro is the rhythm - get in his face, attack 2 times, deflect, attack 2 times, deflect, etc. (Learn to listen - when an enemy deflects you perfectly, it's his turn to attack you). The second most important thing - his Floating Passage (big combo) and his 4 mid-air arrows cannot be deflected perfectly with sword only. The arrows and the combo will build up your posture. Once you have high posture, the combo and/or the arrows will break your posture, stagger you and kill you. Anyone who wishes to figure out this conundrum for himself, should stop reading now. The sword-only way to prevent this - get Ichimonji and Mid-Air Combat arts. Now you can jump and Ichimonji on the way down, without the slow wind up. Ichimoji will keep your posture down and Genichiro's posture up, even when he blocks it. Ichimoji (henceforth referred to as BONK) allows you to stay aggressive, instead of having to step back and hold block to clear your posture. The Art of the BONK applied to Genichiro: if he is out of reach - jump after him and BONK. He tries a sweeping attack - stomp on his head, BONK. He tries to stab you - mikiri and then BONK. You've managed to dodge behind his back - BONK. He is staggered - BIG BONK (the extra slow, charged version). You might experiment with Double Ichimonji - it is even more effective at clearing your posture, but it wrecks the flow. After a double Ichimonji it's Genichiro turn to attack and he may do 3 different things. So I prefer single Ichimonji and a normal attack afterwards. Dealing with his Floating Passage: he throws 2 hits, turns his back for a second and throws 5 more hist. While his back is turned you can choose different options. You can hold block for a second to clear your posture and then mash deflect. You can step back, so you only have to deflect the last hit. Or you can use prosthetics, each will cost 2 emblems. Firecrackers will interrupt him. Mist Raven will get you behind him - with good timing and spacing you can hit him in the back afterwards. Spinning the umbrella will deflect perfectly, but the timing is very precise for 2 spirit emblems only. Dealing with the 4 Mid-Air arrows - you can dodge forward and attack the moment he jumps - this will stagger him. You can throw a shuriken, which will stagger him. You can run around in a circle. You can deflect 3 arrows and block the 4th one. You can deflect 3 and dodge the 4th. You can use the umbrella or the Mist Raven. Dealing with his grab attack - if you see him running around without a sword, smack him in the face with a normal attack - this will stagger him. However, if you are posture broken, you are screwed. Lightning Reversal - it always has chip damage, unless you use Mist Raven (2 emblems). Or a certain combat art you can only get after beating the game. Healing - step back, heal, run around the arrow for a free hit. Phase 3 - step back, heal, mikiri. Or, if you want to heal in piece (any phase, any enemy) - firecracker, heal. Have a plan according to your spirit emblems budget and stick to it. Good luck.
I fought him for the first time today , and took him down to his final phase and then lost, this boss is a massive skill check it's to make sure your ready to progress with the rest of the game , if you can't beat him then you aren't ready
Thank you for your teachings, been stuck in him for a couple of days but now I can say I beat him, I beat him without prosthetic limb use and I realized after I didnt even use a res during the whole fight. Thats not to say you shouldnt, whatever works for you, but I learned and learned and learned until I beat him, incredible gaming moment that will stay with me for a long time, this is why it shouldnt have an easy mode, this would have meant nothing if it was easy. This game is something special, I feel like I earned my stripes with this game with this fight, it broke me down and forced me to git good and I did. I hope all others can as well, I died like a 100 times to him but it was worth it all for that 1 win, stick at it.

Acending and decending carp is incredible. This man slapped me around for thebetter part of an hour, watched this vid, farmed up the two carps, and came back and beat him first try. It just barely pushes it over the edge where its more reliable to beat him by posture rather than hp. Great vid.
I've beaten almost every boss and mini boss up to Genichiro on the first try thanks to your guides. And I'm someone who sucks at Dark Souls and BloodBorne and never really got into them. The biggest thing for me is to relax. My heart starts pumping when I fight a boss and I tend to panic. It's really all about watching them closely and reacting. Hey man, If you beat genichiro, arguably the hardest boss (biggest difficulty spike in the game) then Im sure you could go back to dark souls and bb no prob.

Fought this boss 15 times about a week ago and couldn’t even make it past his second deathblow. Didn’t try him for the past week and just did other things. Seven spears was the first major check. Took me at least 20 tries. By the 18th try something clicked and I knew I could do it but kept jumping off the cliff.
Every time I watch one of these for a boss I struggled with and watch you play with your food so to speak by letting multiple deathblow opportunities just go by so you can continue your demonstration I'm filled with such a mix of awe and frustration lol

I JUST BEAT HIM A MINUTE AGO. Best guide ever. Honestly the part where the video helped the most is 2 phase and knowing when to mikiri. Beat him with no ressurection since the beggining since I died 🍷. The last part was mad easy with lighting reversal I was scared but I got it first try.

Man thank you Cowboy for this. It’s the little things in this fight that make the difference. You have to stay aggressive, you have to mikiri counter his ass. You have to jump back from his grab. You have to jump on his head when he sweeps. I beat his ass a few try’s after watching this, after 50 try’s before. So satisfying to beat him !! It really is. GL to all who see this and have given up because you think you can’t do this. It’s actually not that bad when it clicks. Just keep pushing. You can do this and you will !!
Against the multi attacks, once he finishes the initial two attacks and is beginning to start the 5 hit rampage, use firecrackers to cancel it. This not only does some posture damage, but also gives you an opportunity to put some attacks in. Great guide as always CB !!!
After his flurry of attacks, you will notice you both being stunned. Instead of parrying his last attack of that combo, you can dodge left or right. He will have to pause but you can have get 1 or 2 hits
Bro you single handedly just got me through this fight. I have probably tried this boss 100 times and after I watched this video I got him first try! I entered the second faze with no healing gourd left and had a sliver of health left but got that final death blow. Holy shit I know you probably wont read this but thanks dude. Chase Harris I finally beat him last night after two months, don’t give up. I had to practice really intently for a few days straight and I got it. Try not to get frustrated because you’ll eventually get him, I promise. Just enjoy it while it lasts because it will pay off. I thought I was pissed off before, now I kind of realized I was enjoying the grind. It will be memorable

I think its because i should have been mashing the right bumper to hit him with his lightning cause it would always hit me. A side tip: activate Mist Raven prosthetic just before the lighting hits you, (don't press direction buttons) once you launch yourself upward, press attack button immediately to perform lighting reversal. You won't take damage with this type of lighting reversal.

Just beat this dude today. I was one or two hits from taking him out the first fight but I died. Took me about 7-8 more tries with multiple times getting so close then finally I did the first two bars and only used one healing. It was about as good a feeling as beating gael or Kos. I know he's not as hard but damn it was great!

Pretty much after beating Genichiro i relied on using the katana more than prosthetic tools i found them kinda useless.

FINALLY just beat him after getting a good night sleep and staying aggressive as hell. Fought him like 20 times yesterday but got him on my second try today, sometimes you just gotta take a break and come back another day

just fought him last night after dying about 10 times to him beat second stage like a breeze just by being aggressive as hell i kept dodging the lightning instead of catching it though 😂
iv found that a bunch of bosses don't know how to handle u as well if ur aggressive and get that mikiri counter down pat. I beat the dude my 3rd try including his cute lil surprise 3rd phase (which thank God was the easiest out of the 3)... the only thing that would get me everytime is his arrow shots when I tried to heal. if u go in there hit him 3 time n stop to see if he counters, than continue rinse repeat and if u don't have a handle on mikiri counters, than just side step or jump (phase 1), than he gets a lil more aggressive himself, starts getting cute with his bow but keep the same concept of, go in hit 2 or 3 time, pause n continue. the pauses should only be to see what he gonna do next, but other than that stay on him, block is arrows if u can n get his posture bar up both phase one and two is all about breaking his posture bar (as most fights should be) rather than whittling down his health! NEVER worry about bosses health bars, focus on breaking posture n once u do it don't matter if they have 75% of their health bar, because u can deathblow the whole thing...the surprise 3rd phase is more of the same, aggressive, deflect or dodge his lighting and his posture breaks pretty easily In phase 3. good luck everone!

You gotta stay on him lol. if you have the "temple arts" skill tree unlocked (found at Mt. Kongo) with praying strikes than you become the boss lol. You are throwing yourself at him/using kicks to build his posture with ease. Deflect and L1+R1+R1 combo with an occasional Mikiri counter. This guy becomes a joke when you realize that Sekiro is all about posture build-up into a deathblow and NOT clean hits like Dark Souls/Bloodborne.

Old comment, but I'm replying to it for anyone reading the replies that doesn't know. How fast anyone's posture bar goes down (including Wolf) depends on their health. If their health is low, posture recovers very slowly. This is why it's never a bad idea to focus on dealing damage to their health before getting super aggressive against their posture.

when he does his jumping attack to thrust/sweep (as seen at 1:23) i found that you can actually press B (mikiri counter) and then instantly after press A (jump) so if he is doing a thrust, you would have done the mikiri counter, but if it turns out he was doing a sweeping attack, then after the dodge animation of B, you would have already jumped and been able to kick him if you pressed A early enough, hope this helps.
i also found that after the jump in second phase you can doge the sweep or the thrust by dash jumping to the right and i like to use the two sweep as it goes through his defense and he always tries to block it which interrupts whatever he was about to do. This is how you can keep him on your terms for at least 3-4 clashes. generally play defensive and learn the rythm and if you really need to beat him, don't waste opportunities to kill him lol. Also the two sweep ability for your left and right MB also can catch him out of one of his dodge to swipes he sometimes pull out of nowhere though i don't recommend risking it.

Just a heads-up (and to add to Cowboy's awesome advice): For the lightning attack in phase 2, notice how Cowboy loses some health. If you hold down block when you jump and then counter with the attack to redirect the lightning, you don't take that damage. Very minor, but sometimes health is at a premium.

4 years late** lol I'm on a from software kick. I beat demon sould back in the day, got pretty far in DS1 and DS3. Couldn't get past the first mob in bloodborne. Lol but I loved eldenring and just plat. It (my only other Plat being returnal) went back and beat bloodborne (3 trophies away from plat) but sekiro is a whole different ballgame! I love it it feels like a real sword fight but it's hard as FUCK.
@@lukecapelli1971 way i did it was i jumped as soon as i saw any yellow on my screen (lightning) , immediately after jumping, like almost instantly, i pressed block, then quickly after that, BEFORE HITTING THE GROUND, i pressed attack.

I've been dying to this boss for a long time, trying to learn his moveset and anticipate his combos, but with this guide it just clicked, and I beat him first try after I watched it. That advice to Mikiri just after the mark and to jump lightning likewise is gold, Jerry, gold.
Genichiro was my very first wall I hit but when I got through the first time he very quickly became favourite boss to fight.
He was definitely my first wall but its really good training. Once you finally beat him your skill is improved many times over. Its very satisfying to defeat him easily in the following playthoughs.
I’ve been trying to fight this guy on and off for the past two years. Everything up to this fight was a breeze. I simply can’t get the timing right on this fight. Only soulslike game I haven’t finished yet because of this guy.
I got through him (much further) the last time I tried this game. Decided to do a full reset and I can’t with this dude. No matter what tutorial I watch or anything like that. He will haunt my nightmares

After I beat the butterfly the game kinda clicked for me. The boss right before this guy teaches you that defense can sometimes be way better than offense and more importantly(since almost every boss i fought so far you gotta be aggressive lol), teaches you combo deflects. I normally play souls games with a controller on my pc because it feels better but for the butterfly i had to switch to keyboard n mouse to get the job done like deflecting by right clicking is just magical and i got 2 buttons on the side of my mouse i put one to jump and the other to dodge and after that all you need is wasd and your mouse gliding like butter(flies lol sorry)
Lady butterfly is when i understood theres a rhythm to the game and when the swords spark after you attack, stop attacking and prepare to deflect. I tried this guy only twice so far and the second attempt i deleted his first health bar and half of his posture in round 2 before i let him kill me bc i realized that i might be too early to fight him i only killed the butterfly and horseboi so far in terms of big bosses i killed that purple magic guy and stuff but im trying to figure out if i should even be here attempting him i only got 4 gourds and 2 prayer necklaces and im hoping the game doesnt just jump into 10x harder mode after him or something lol i just been running around exploring and then i hit the top and now im wondering if i should do other stuff before him or am i alright to do it?
The butterfly was my first boss and it was only after i memorized everything about her battle that i realized i was too early for her lol it sure taught me tho but im no souls god its just important to be patient and learn everything by dying constantly and applying what you learned next time until its over. Dont let your emotions(mainly anger) cloud your brain processing as this is what happens to most people. Its ok to die a lot, its almost the point really lol just dont take it personal and learn from that last fight and go again with a clear mind(like a shinobi🥷lmao sorry)

Jizou statues are not required. You can run around looking for minibosses and prayer beads, but 2 necklaces should be enough. You might want to farm 999 emblems before killing Genichiro, though. There is inflation in Ashina, I blame the FED.
The most important thing with Genichiro is the rhythm - get in his face, attack 2 times, deflect, attack 2 times, deflect, etc.
(Learn to listen - when an enemy deflects you perfectly, it's his turn to attack you).
The second most important thing - his Floating Passage (big combo) and his 4 mid-air arrows cannot be deflected perfectly with sword only. The arrows and the combo will build up your posture. Once you have high posture, the combo and/or the arrows will break your posture, stagger you and kill you.
Anyone who wishes to figure out this conundrum for himself, should stop reading now.
The sword-only way to prevent this - get Ichimonji and Mid-Air Combat arts. Now you can jump and Ichimonji on the way down, without the slow wind up. Ichimoji will keep your posture down and Genichiro's posture up, even when he blocks it. Ichimoji (henceforth referred to as BONK) allows you to stay aggressive, instead of having to step back and hold block to clear your posture.
The Art of the BONK applied to Genichiro: if he is out of reach - jump after him and BONK. He tries a sweeping attack - stomp on his head, BONK. He tries to stab you - mikiri and then BONK. You've managed to dodge behind his back - BONK. He is staggered - BIG BONK (the extra slow, charged version).
You might experiment with Double Ichimonji - it is even more effective at clearing your posture, but it wrecks the flow. After a double Ichimonji it's Genichiro turn to attack and he may do 3 different things. So I prefer single Ichimonji and a normal attack afterwards.
Dealing with his Floating Passage: he throws 2 hits, turns his back for a second and throws 5 more hist. While his back is turned you can choose different options. You can hold block for a second to clear your posture and then mash deflect. You can step back, so you only have to deflect the last hit. Or you can use prosthetics, each will cost 2 emblems. Firecrackers will interrupt him. Mist Raven will get you behind him - with good timing and spacing you can hit him in the back afterwards. Spinning the umbrella will deflect perfectly, but the timing is very precise for 2 spirit emblems only.
Dealing with the 4 Mid-Air arrows - you can dodge forward and attack the moment he jumps - this will stagger him. You can throw a shuriken, which will stagger him. You can run around in a circle. You can deflect 3 arrows and block the 4th one. You can deflect 3 and dodge the 4th. You can use the umbrella or the Mist Raven.
Dealing with his grab attack - if you see him running around without a sword, smack him in the face with a normal attack - this will stagger him. However, if you are posture broken, you are screwed.
Lightning Reversal - it always has chip damage, unless you use Mist Raven (2 emblems). Or a certain combat art you can only get after beating the game.
Healing - step back, heal, run around the arrow for a free hit. Phase 3 - step back, heal, mikiri. Or, if you want to heal in piece (any phase, any enemy) - firecracker, heal.
Have a plan according to your spirit emblems budget and stick to it. Good luck.
I fought him for the first time today , and took him down to his final phase and then lost, this boss is a massive skill check it's to make sure your ready to progress with the rest of the game , if you can't beat him then you aren't ready
Thank you for your teachings, been stuck in him for a couple of days but now I can say I beat him, I beat him without prosthetic limb use and I realized after I didnt even use a res during the whole fight. Thats not to say you shouldnt, whatever works for you, but I learned and learned and learned until I beat him, incredible gaming moment that will stay with me for a long time, this is why it shouldnt have an easy mode, this would have meant nothing if it was easy. This game is something special, I feel like I earned my stripes with this game with this fight, it broke me down and forced me to git good and I did. I hope all others can as well, I died like a 100 times to him but it was worth it all for that 1 win, stick at it.

Acending and decending carp is incredible. This man slapped me around for thebetter part of an hour, watched this vid, farmed up the two carps, and came back and beat him first try. It just barely pushes it over the edge where its more reliable to beat him by posture rather than hp. Great vid.
I've beaten almost every boss and mini boss up to Genichiro on the first try thanks to your guides. And I'm someone who sucks at Dark Souls and BloodBorne and never really got into them. The biggest thing for me is to relax. My heart starts pumping when I fight a boss and I tend to panic. It's really all about watching them closely and reacting. Fought this boss 15 times about a week ago and couldn’t even make it past his second deathblow. Didn’t try him for the past week and just did other things. Seven spears was the first major check. Took me at least 20 tries. By the 18th try something clicked and I knew I could do it but kept jumping off the cliff.
Every time I watch one of these for a boss I struggled with and watch you play with your food so to speak by letting multiple deathblow opportunities just go by so you can continue your demonstration I'm filled with such a mix of awe and frustration lol

I JUST BEAT HIM A MINUTE AGO. Best guide ever. Honestly the part where the video helped the most is 2 phase and knowing when to mikiri. Beat him with no ressurection since the beggining since I died 🍷. The last part was mad easy with lighting reversal I was scared but I got it first try.
So.. after all it took me to look at his stance to figure out a thrust or a sweep was coming... I could have just looked at the shine on his sword...

Against the multi attacks, once he finishes the initial two attacks and is beginning to start the 5 hit rampage, use firecrackers to cancel it.
This not only does some posture damage, but also gives you an opportunity to put some attacks in.

After his flurry of attacks, you will notice you both being stunned. Instead of parrying his last attack of that combo, you can dodge left or right. He will have to pause but you can have get 1 or 2 hits

Chase Harris I finally beat him last night after two months, don’t give up. I had to practice really intently for a few days straight and I got it. Try not to get frustrated because you’ll eventually get him, I promise. Just enjoy it while it lasts because it will pay off.

I think its because i should have been mashing the right bumper to hit him with his lightning cause it would always hit me. This boss definitely has turned me into a better shinobi though, I had to memorize his moves! I feel accomplished! Haha holy hell that was a battle !!! 😂

A side tip: activate Mist Raven prosthetic just before the lighting hits you, (don't press direction buttons) once you launch yourself upward, press attack button immediately to perform lighting reversal. You won't take damage with this type of lighting reversal.

Just beat this dude today. I was one or two hits from taking him out the first fight but I died. Took me about 7-8 more tries with multiple times getting so close then finally I did the first two bars and only used one healing. It was about as good a feeling as beating gael or Kos. I know he's not as hard but damn it was great!
