Genuinely impressed as to how Ster continuously dies to foxy on the first night, never seen it happen so many times before
wiki says its a 1/10000 chance for it to happen once
it only happens because he doesnt use the cams, I think techrules did a video about it.
Foxy does move on night one, just very very slowly and inconsistently. There's about a 1/20 chance Foxy will get to the next "stage" before attack every time the game rolls the dice (Which I think is every 5 seconds or so). Foxy will not move at all though if you're using the cameras, anywhere.
So, if you spend a lot of time twiddling your thumbs in the office and get extremely unlucky with multiple dice rolls, it's possible for Foxy to decide to go psycho night one.
It's the anti-afk mechanic. Gotta check the cameras or die.

okay it really is hilariously unlucky to die to Foxy like that on night 1, especially the second time it happened. Foxy has a chance to leave the cove at 3 am if you're idling without checking the cameras for a long time, but he only has a 1/20 chance to move when the game rolls for it before 4am and 1/10 afterwards. EVEN THEN, checking the monitors stops him from moving, and Ster wasn't even ignoring the cameras, he just really got like the worst possible rng lmao

Im just confused on how Ster somehow managed to 1. Somehow get killed by Foxy on Night 1 TWICE and 2. Beat Fnaf 2's First night before Fnaf 1

if you dont check the cameras at all/rarely on night 1, foxy's ai is able to jumpscare you. typically when you play the game, his ai is at 1 and fails the movement check so long as the monitor is raised. if you dont look, foxy will pass every movement check since you arent even attempting to stop him. the only rng is how often foxy tries to move at a really low ai level

@@yashuab.2979 i left an essay lmao my bad but TLDR: one example is at 7:00 ish minutes, he starts a run and doesnt check the cameras at ALL until hour 1. he looks for a few seconds, then doesnt check for the next (presumably, since there's a cut) 2-3 HOURS! that is a lot of opportunities for foxy to move, if we are assuming that they only try to move 1 time/5s.
long explanation: he opened the cameras every so often, but not for long periods of time which is the only thing that actually matters. every time the camera system is closed, the game will run a movement check for foxy. im not sure the EXACT timing of the checks (i forgot lol), but its something like every 5 seconds the ai will try to move. foxy's ai starts at 0, then progressively increases so that by the end of the night he's at about 3. the game picks a number between 0 and 20, and if the number the game picks is lower than the ai value, the animatronics will move. so for the times he had his camera down for almost a minute, foxy was able to fail a LOT of his movement checks and still pass two or three, which is really all he needs to move. it is slight unluckiness since foxy did pass his checks often, but he also didn't stay on the cameras for very long.
hopefully that makes sense/someone else will find it interesting.

It does happen consistently (I tested it a few years ago) but you have to not check Foxy's camera basically at all.

jerma definitely needs to make a series where he lures other streamers to play horror games before he does his average Tuesday ritual.
I think there was a misconception eons ago that not looking at Foxy would make him angy, but I think Scott mentioned that Foxy just doesnt like when theres no activity on the cameras, period, not just specifically looking at him. That could explain why, with ster's periods of inactivity on the cameras, he kept getting killed by Foxy.

It advertises itself as a nostalgia-fest only to pull the rug out from under the viewer and show them all the wild and not-exactly-ethical stuff that was going on behind the scenes. Amnesia: The Dark Descent was genuinely one of the greatest horror games of all time. It gets mislabeled as TH-camr bait so often and makes me sad.
its one of my favorite games! i dont think its super replayable unfortunately, but i would love to watch one of my friends play it for the first time. i love the type of horror game that is less "horror game" and more "eerie building simulator". the monsters are so iconic and the atmosphere is so engaging. its such an experience. as somebody who cant play most horror games because theyre so stressful and jumpscare-y, i found amnesia to be the perfect balance. now i wanna replay it, but i feel like i still remember most of the game, despite it being 4+ years since i played it
@@MrJellyman223 There is replayability to be had, but I completely crushed that possiblity after my first playthrough, because I was so enthralled in the game's world, story, enemies, plot, art design, everything about it I adored that I read every single Amnesia wiki page. That may sound unfortunate, but I truly think it's a testament to the game itself, that it compelled me to spend hours reading stuff about it and watch videos about the developer's thought processes. But despite all that, I generally agree the replayability is lacking, it's like BoTW. I actually found Amnesia more scary than jumpscare fests like Fnaf, Outlast, etc, because it builds tension so well. No other game EVER had me hiding in a corner, in total legitimate TERROR for ten minutes because I heard an ambient sound. SOMA is another fantastic horror game by the same studio behind Amnesia, Frictional Games, which you should DEFINITELY play if you are a fan of Amnesia: The Dark Descent.
I'm so glad that others love The Dark Descent as well, I could talk about it for hours.
My fondest early adolescent memory of the past decade was bringing my PS4 over to my cousin's and playing through Amnesia with her after we grew up watching let's players like Pewdiepie/Markiplier play through the campaign and many custom maps. But being that age made it genuinely scary and a great experience, years later it's been a lot more impactful. As you've said easily top 15 most impactful in horror in the past 2 decades.
It is quite the terrifying experience. Probably has a bad rep because the sequels weren't as good so people immediately assumed the first one was for the Tubers.
i remember how much i fell in love with amnesia: a machine for pigs, and its remained a favorite ever since. i know its not the original amnesia, but i always feel like it doesn't get the love it deserves. the dark descent was absolutely iconic though :]
Watching Ster play FNaF gives me the same feeling as watching a Pokémon player try Dark Souls 2.
