Hope this "tutorial" was helpful to some of you guys! Wanted to share my thought process since I get so many questions about it. Hoping to do a "Let's Build" soon as well as both roofing and landscaping tutorials :) Love you guys!
Same. Even though I'm a beginner with decorating myself but it's a lot easier than to do a floor plan and I eventually figure it out. But I have given up so many builds because I couldn't figure out the floor plan. That's why I want to practice figuring out floor plans with smaller houses first and then slowly improve myself with bigger houses.
@@noeliajaime7656A few years earlier I thought I just can't figure out floor plans and never will. But now I'm also thinking it takes practice. That's why I want to practice figuring out floor plans to eventually get a feeling for it.
Can you do a small series where you build a bunch of common house/architecture types? Also I am particularly interested in an italianate style house, but what ever you build I will watch! You are an amazing builder and such an inspiration! Love the vid!
I think this is a great tutorial. I already know HOW to build a house. But I love seeing someone else's approach bc it gives me new ideas for when I build. Thank you for doing this!
When you said you can hold ALT to stop the roof from snapping to the grid when adjusting the height, my jaw dropped. I've been playing this game since the day it was released, have the audacity to consider myself a "good" builder, and had no idea you could do this. I cannot believe it.
Yes pleassssssssssse!!!!!!!!!! Make a roofing tutorial! I am getting the sims in a few days and I have NO Idea how to build!!! This video helped alot though! Thanks ms gryphi!!!
@@amrengirl9922you are however able to toggle the household from played and uplayed before you go into build mode in order to have unlimited funds. if you click on the green plumbob on the bottom of the family panel and turn it to be grayed out and/or click the heart button to make it hollow (which will also remove the family from your “saved households” - which is different from played households w/r/t auto-aging and culling) you will be able to build on their lot with unlimited funds even if you have already played with them.
I have been playing sims for over 20 years, and your videos have made me think about building differently. I never really liked it before, because it was pretty much make a box, extend a box, add a box on top. Watching your vids and this technique of more organic shaping rooms, being a little asymmetrical was mind-blowing. I pretty much have a savefile of your lots, and am more comfortable making my own, if I am missing something, thanks so watching your vids during downtime at night at the hospital.
this house came together in like two seconds haha. you make it seem so easy. that would have taken me like two hours lol Thanks for sharing tips! Definitely inspiring to get back to building.
This is such a nice tutorial; it works well for beginner players, as you give some basic descriptions of tools, but you don’t spend so much time on those descriptions that veteran players are frustrated. Such a nice balance- and also informative~!
I really like this idea! I hope you continue to do videos like these, sometimes I feel so lost when I’m building like I don’t know how to make the build look cohesive but you gave me some new tips. Thanks!
Whenever I make houses I always arrange the areas or spaces first, categorizing them into 3 parts- 1. Public 2. Semi-private and last is 3. Private spaces. After all of that then I design the exterior part of the structure. I'm an architect and I'm amazed with your exterior designs. 😊
Oh my gosh, I am learning soooooo much. I usually download already-made houses then edit them to my liking. Now, I know I'll be having so much fun making houses. Thank you Tonya!
Thank you. My question was about big spaces and what to do with them, but watching you do it I realized you think of boxes, square rooms while I just focused on walls and where to put them. I'm inspired to try it differently now and the idea of boxes made it way easier to understand how to do it. So thanks a lot. ;)
I'm so excited for your roof tutorial! My fiance haaaaates my builds because I don't really know how to do neat roofs, so all of my builds look kinda funny
I just want to say that you are incredibly talented and I adore this house. Please just give it to me in real life! I just recently “discovered” you and I am so glad I did.
Thank you! This helps so much! I have trouble figuring out like realistic floor plans for my builds. Also I have a suggestion too I'd like to see a big super messy realistic family home for a stay at home mom with a busy toddler and a baby. I think that would be super fun! Lol
Thank you MsGryphi! Been building this house today. How did you get your camera settings to move as your is moving? I am on Sims 3 camera and still have to hold 'CTRL' to make the camera rotate with my mouse.
also, if you want your sim to have the house for free (idk if this is pc cause i’m on console) if you click on an empty lot, create a household, the just create whatever sim or your family (you can always edit the household later) then make them live on an the empty lot, then there is a small button near play which is the build button, you get infinite money. then you can exit and play as ur family (or edit the household) and play as them in the house without having to worry about those moving in costs! 💕
Getting into sims and feeling like I should have discovered this a long long time ago im totally in love with it... I have a question though which is at 10:06 you do something that removes the grid from the floor how exactly did you do that?
I love these tutorial videos! 😄 I know it's you probably don't see this comment, but I'll give it a try 😊 I would love an updated video, because now we can alt place doors and windows 😄 Making the floorplan is one of the most difficult things to me 😖 So thank you for this tutorial! ❤️
Another tip for unlimited money, if you already have a household on the lot you can go and mark it as unplayed, it won't change anything on the household and then you can go into build as you just shown and you'll still have unlimited money 😊👍
Thank you for makeing a step by step video like this i truly appreciate it it makes it more easier to follow your. Build i wish people made more videos like this
This was great. Would love to see a decorating tutorial. Not so much as like clutter or how to do it. Just how you come up with color cordinations with the walls and floors and stuff.
For me (i have console), if you press play instead of opening a save and enter build mode on an occupied lot without playing the house hold then you still get infinite simoleons.
Thank you so much for this tutorial!~ I always have loved to build in The Sims, but as the time goes by I ended up, at every single building, doing all those square undynamic houses, and that was very frustrating. You have a beautiful voice, nice tone and speaks "calmly" which helps a lot, not just to understand what are you teaching to us, but to understand what are you saying (I'm not a native english speaker haha). I know this house is plain but can you put it in the gallery because it would be cool to have an unfurnished house with a nice floorplan to work with. It would be fun to play with the colours and decorate
In our houses, if you look at your own fridge, you'll notice your fridge isn't connected to the counters or the wall (In real life), the builders/architect/engineers intentionally did that because you might not be satisfied with the fridge and can *move* it.

Ms. Gryphi: Let's pick some ugly orange counters!
I use those exact counters in half of my houses😂
😂😂😂
I hope you're ashamed of yourself 😂

@@BBaaaaa Because gryphi said they were ugly. It's a joke, you know about these?
Lol.They ARE ugly though, but everyone has different tastes. :-)
I don't know if you have already done this but for your next tiny house can you make the little apartment from Friends
I am not familiar with the show. Sorry D:
someone else already made one, just search for it!
lexie godwin I wanted to comment the same thing 😂lol
MsGryphi can you make the Big Bang theory apartment?

glad this was helpful! :) Planning to do a roofing tutorial in the next couple weeks :)
this really makes me want to try a big house build now
i lean more on tiny house builds because i usually play single sims more often
In the case of building without money, if you go to manage world, click on any lot and click that tool icon it will let you build without a budget. 😊
Eboni Miller there will be a budget if you have played the household, if it’s a auto-placed household they have no budget

NalynnaOnline definitely agree 😅 I literally have spent like half an hour deciding how I wanted to make the first wall once 💀

Hello! I liked before watching.
I also have a suggestion, can you mabye try to make a like Victorian mansion, or something like that
Sage Mason she has actually done a couple of Victorian mansions or builds like that, maybe not “mansions” but pretty large victorians
Thanks! I've done quite a few large victorian homes. So fun!

I'm a very basic builder, and I've been struggling to find tutorials that make sense to me. Yours are so helpful! Thank you
If you mark your sim as Unplayed and go straight into build instead of play, you can fix/build their house with unlimited money.
For the countertops, you can also select "auto counters" so it automatically does the corner counters on the corners and whatnot!
True :) I much prefer placing them haha
The video helped me a lot! Thank you for that❤
