  • Showing the combing of Jacob Fleece Locks that I just finishing washing. The locks were soaked for 24 hours in water outdoors without any soap. Then for 24 hours with Mrs Meyers Clean Day Dish Soap. Then one more quick wash with Mrs Meyers Clean Day Dish Soap all in cold water. The soaking took place in ambient temperature water. No hot water was used to clean this fleece. The fleece has the dirt and oils removed and a little lanolin in left in the wool. It spins up real nice and easy to comb. Jacob Sheep have very little lanolin and lots of oil. The soak and soap get the remaining dirt and oils out. The first soaking really removes a whopping lot of dirt which can interfere with soap removing oils. So the pre-soak is very important. Makes it easier to really get the oils and lanolin out if you happen to use super hot water to remove lanolin which is needed in many breeds of sheep. Not so much for the Jacob.
