What about all the restaurants that have been there for decades?? La Casa Del Pueblo Taqueria, Los Milagros, Coculas, Los Comales? All those restaurants with the exception of Altontonilcos seem the pavement for gentrification.
My mom was born and lived at 21st and Paulina in the 1940’s-60’s, I visited my grandmother there in the 80’s as a child, I remember amazing, gracious people, the corner store with the best ice cream, and the EL. Interesting to see it today.
AAAAAH!!!! It’s so weird because I always pass by these places everyday. And then to see people going through it is also more crazy. I also like how they chose to stay away from the gang violence. And if u ever go to Atotonilcos, u always gotta get tacos de el pastor and a licuado de platano every time.
My name is Jerry I lived in Pilsen all my life I came to Texas what I remember about Pilsen back in the days with Al Capone there was always killing I grew up I became a gang member Latin folks familia with la Raza there's always been a lot of killing in Pilsen of 18th Street I'm proud ofis one of the most popular place in Chicago one of the 10 top in the United States in the world two go enjoy I'm proud of my people changing it around that Mexican neighborhood will always be one of the best place you would ever enjoy Mexican culture I grew up in there I'm proud I come from Pilsen have the most beautiful Hispanic women to💖⛪💖😎🇲🇽
@@acebandagedaclown4215 Pilsen is still 70% Mexican buts it's declining, 10 years ago it was over 80% Mexican. You can definitely see the culture is disappearing.
@@hueso5071it's not disappearing, a lot of it is just getting pushed further from the Loop as wealth grows in the area. La Villita and the surrounding areas are still very Mexican. Latin Americans are getting priced out just like in Wicker Park, Logan Square, Humboldt Park, etc.
Rami L. Update...trip was canceled due to Corona virus...and now the uncertainty due to the riots. Pretty disappointing I was really looking forward to a summer trip.

@@carstarsarstenstesenn again it's disappearing in those neighborhoods. Little village is starting to see gentrification as well.

We don’t fucking care
Should’ve never left. Maybe then there wouldn’t be so much gentrification
Hello my friend. I'm always happy about your interesting videos
Well at least they showed my art little village next to be gentrified lol
A dangerous hood
Not as dangerous anymore you could actually walk the streets at night now in Pilsen / la 18th. thank God.
