Back in the '80s the problem was they got pregnant BEFORE deployment, and therefore didn't deploy and we were left shorthanded (This was aboard a tender, not a submarine, as we had no females in the Submarine Force then)
Truly focussed crew, reminds me of my time in the Dutch Navy ( mcm diver). At that moment in your live, you dont realise how special it is because your doing your job every day. But only when your a bit older and left the navy for many years it does! Also for the rest of your life its in your so to say "life pocket". Very usefull for forfilling many different position and jobs in civial/commercial life afterwards👍👍

Take that Playstation!!! the Mast Control Station is controlled with an Xbox Controller!!! Also seems the most technological crew I have ever seen, they look more like MIT grads than your old school sailors.
What are the living conditions for a 'mixed Gender" crew? Being a SUB sailor in the late 60's I can't imagine the lack of privacy . No doubt women can perform the technical functions in a modern sub, but they are not working 24/7.
Oh, it'll be a milestone for how quickly a submarine crew has to return to the states because a dozen crew members got pregnant. Or the quickest submarine to get blown up because the women couldn't do the job as effectively as the men and eroded team cohesion. But equality! That's what's important, right?
I am surprised you know of the hall effect, nice. Useful for gaming controllers. Looks like an old 360 controller as well and not of the newer ones. Probably would look better with Elite 2 controller. Wonder if it has rumble...

Australia navy has had women on board submarine for well over a decade there has been no major issue having a mixed crew.
Wounder how much more money was spent for this just to make some members of congress feel good

「光学マスト制御」になんとXboxコントローラーが使われているが、形状を見るとどうも純正ではなさそうだ。軍用に使うんだから少なくともスティックはドリフトを回避するホールセンサー制御が必要だろうから純正では無理だ。

返信コメントによれば、Xbox360の純正有線コントローラーのようです。精度は最新製品に及ばないが、信頼性と安さで選択されたのでしょう。360は後継が出ましたが、同コントローラーはPCゲーマーに人気があって市場にも出回っています。
