Shadow should've done more in Forces. You're telling me Sonic """died""" and hid EQUAL literally just sat on his ass??? No, realistically he would've gotten up instantly after Sonic lost. Because he's just as much of a hero as Sonic. He just presents himself differently.
Sonic Forces was a disappointment for me overall, mediocre at best. However...Sonic Forces is where I feel Kirk Thornton actually nailed Shadow. His voice felt more natural to Shadow, and he has VASTLY improved over his initial takeover of the role of Shadow.
After hearing him in Dark Beginnings he's very quickly growing on me, and that's coming from someone who HATED how he sounded in Boom but hopefully with Shadow Generations we can finally start seeing him shine. I don't think any Shadow VA will beat my (Biased) love for Jason, but I'm glad Kirk is showing massive improvement in the new animations and games!!
boom was on it being a completely different shadow with no remorse the rest was just bad voice direction but he sounds INCREDIBLE in shadow generations and the episodes
Lego Dimensions is when he started to show significant improvement, and even though Griffith is my fav. I look forward to hearing his performance in the 3 upcoming anime shorts an Shadow Generations
Holy shit, game Boom Shadow is unironically like a parody of the Shadow the Hedgehog, a complete misunderstanding of the character. TV Boom Shadow, pretty funny, which is what the show was going for, like it's actively parodying the incompetence of its game counterpart.

If a Japanese animation studio asks me to hire an English language voice director for a show/movie, I’m going to hire Kirk in a nutshell, as long as he asks me to pay him. One example is any Sonic related content especially the TailsTube series.
Actually is the Japanese who hire VA all over the world. In Italy they were hired by Sonic Team and are sticking around for more than 10 years at this time. I don't know why in English speaking countries they always change.

Not gonna get into my opinions on Kirk, but I just wanna say that it makes me so happy they used Throw It All Away in the tailstube segment. All hail shadow, while a good song, was never his theme to me, and a shame imo that it took over that role for a long time.
If i had one nickle after every single time a sonic character was misscast, by now would've be rich enough to buy my own island! Still, must've been pretty hard work digging through all them games!

its more on the direction/writing imo. when they write him as an edgelord for comedy (Boom/Takeover), he matches that with his growl. But on the rare instances they dont write him that way, like Forces, his performance is much more reserved and nuanced. Hoping SonicxShadow will play to those strengths. overall i dont blame Kirk, hes a great actor, i blame it on the poor direction Sega has taken Shadows character.
