This channel is crap apart from a good deep mysterious style of voice acting. There's no naval variant named J-31B. FC-31, J-31 were names used during it's prototype phase. Once supported by the PLAAF, PLA navy, and export order from PAF, the official designation is J-35 for naval variant and J-35A for the air force variant. And no there were no side weapons bays in any of the variants. WS-19 engine is still under development and the engine used in zuhai airshow were stopgap WS-21 engines. It's expected that early production versions would be with WS-21 engines as well. KLJ-7A designated radar has at least 3 entirely different radar versions and no they aren't inherently inferior to any other Chinese AESA radar. So stop spreading fake/misleading info about the platform. The reason of J-35 being cheaper than J-20 isn't what the capitalist west can think of. Thanks to the Chinese communist party Govt, every tech and experience gained from the long ever evolving J-20 project can be easily transferred to the J-35 project so reducing the overall R&D costs. The shanyang and Chengdu would share the same tech pool when it comes to the PLA needs and they aren't free to rival and potentially try to sabotage each other like what Westerners can observe in their capitalist markets. J-35 is much smaller aircraft with much less hard points and less payload capacity than the J-20. So with a combination of relatively less R&D costs and overall smaller size fighter makes the J-35 much cheaper to buy and operate than the J-20 fighters. Chinese PLAAF and PLA Navy wouldn't be going cheap and deliberately cutting corners for their J-35 program just for the sake of being a cheap fighter.
For example when a new tech is introduced into the J-20 like new Hud, HMDS, missiles etc, then that piece of tech/equipment is trickled down to the entire PLAAF production line as needed. From J-20 to J-16 to J-10C to J-15 to JF-17 as and when required by the PLAAF. But the brunt of the R&D and testing cost would be billed by the J-20 program.
@M16_Akula-III KLJ-7A radar had at least 3 entirely different radar array setups and none of them were integrated in the JF-17. The radar used in JF-17 is the air cooled variant of the single array KLJ-7A radar, due to the nose size limitations of the JF-17 thunder. J-35 would likely use liquid cooled 3 array setup radar version of KLJ-7A radar with higher number of TR modules according to the nose radome of the J-35. But anything can only be confirmed when the serial production variants actually start to be inducted into the air force.

The initial model had some problems with the jet engine. But that problem has been resolved. The new model likely will be going onboard the new aircraft carrier Fujian.
J-35A is more like a multirole lightweight fighter similar to the KF-21 Boramae, F-16V Fighting Falcon and F/A-18E/F Super Hornet, while the US F-35A and F-35C is more like ground strike aircraft such as the old A-7 Corsair II.
Capacity too, for fuel, avionics, and ordnance. You can be a ripped lean hand-to-hand fighter, but it doesn't mean anything when you're popped from a distance by a husky sniper. And modern radars won't let even the stealthiest aircraft get into gunfight range completely undetected.
Be objective or politically neutral in reporting, so that you'll attract more audience; otherwise you'll have no edge in those politics- laced online commentators or reporters.
Ok I hate the mfs that always say "it's stolen" about everything Chinese, but like.... That is blatantly an F22, with perhaps a longer nose? And the engine nozzles seem a lot less stealthy, not sure why they went with cones there tbh
At least they succeed in making it somehow flatter with (two) smaller engines, allowing good rearward vision for the pilot. Something which made me scratch my head, with the F35. I mean, like, what is with that single monstrous power plant? Why they went that way? 😶
Large diameter engines contributing to a higher bypass are for fuel efficiency similar to the ones found on commercial jet liners. USAF is more concerned about fuel economy than supersonic performance. Hence F-35 has a larger combat radius than J-35 of around 750 - 800 nmi (1400 - 1500 km). Their is even a pilot leaking F-35 can even go further up to 900 nmi (~1650km). And this is b4 the engine core upgrades for Block IV. However with ACE for later blocks like GE's XA100 or P&W's XA101 it can have both fuel efficiency and supersonic performance. Still it will likely be limited to the same Mach 1.6 to maintain it's stealth coatings. Lastly, F-35's spherical DAS allows it to see though its cockpit giving it unmatched situational awareness.
For that last point, it shouldn't be a problem as the F35 helmet allows the pilot to see through the jet, and I guess it's more cost effective, or more efficient, to use one big expensive engine, rather than 2 small expensive engines.
@@johnsilver9338I think it may be a problem with the initial positioning of the F35. The F35 was not planned to be as heavy and large as it is now, and there was no need to excessively pursue air superiority. It was wise to use a single engine, but after adding electronic equipment, they realized that a single engine was not enough, but switching to a twin engine would lead to additional modifications, which might be as difficult as making a new aircraft. The J35 has obviously learned from the lessons of the F35 and no longer blindly pursues compactness.
@@johnsilver9338So, for the F35, I prefer to describe it as a bomber capable of air superiority, and for the J35, it is a fighter capable of ground attack.
I don't know where he is getting his information from. While I am glad he doesn't underestimate the eastern aircraft. Some of his information is outdated or incomplete. The engine at the airshow is the WS-21, or an upgraded WS-13. The navy is waiting on the WS-19 to be finished. For now the land variant uses WS-21/WS-13 upgrade. The Navy one is likely to called J-35, plain no letters behind the numbers. The land one is called J-35a. The export is likely J-35AE.
Will they sell these aircraft to Taiwan and Hong Kong so they can be free countries and not be ruled by China? Or will America have to destroy the CCP in a war so America can win World War 3?
The F35 is designed for stealth and network centric operations, and multirole flexibility not air dominance or high speed interception. Not all the details of the J35 are available but what is known is that, compared to the F35, it is less stealthy, has no sensor fusion, less situational awareness without a DAS equivalent, requires two engines due to lower performance compared to the F35s F135 engine performance, has a lack of battlefield networking capabilities and software and mission systems, has fewer advanced munitions, no operational history and is still undergoing testing, and has poorer logistics and maintenance due to a lack of a comparable ALIS.
Americans: coping and calling it crap yet they dont even know the capabilities. Meanwhile it took 10 countries to make the F35 at a cost of over a trillion. NGAD aint ever happening Indians: AMCA will be done in the year 2150 Chinese: we just released a 6th generation plane. We will not elaborate
The J35 twin engine when with the WS19 will be far far more powerful than the single F35 is obvious and can super cruise at 2.2 mach while the F35 can only do at most 1.4 with after burner for a few seconds. You should mention this as it is very important.
@@skyserf That part the F35 is no match for the Chinese far more advanced stealth and networkd operations. China even linked it to the J20 command centre in the air with loyal wingmen and proven to be far far better than the Americans wingmen systems . The J35 is also designed for ground targeting as well besides being a air superiority plane. More stealthy , longer range missiles and better communications systems .. linking the J20, J10c , J16 fighting a group has no equal.
@hkfoo3333 The video clearly discusses how the J35 cannot be as stealthy as the F35. The J35 has no DAS equivalent nor has there been any information released regarding networking. If you have a source to the contrary please provide it.
@@skyserf The DAS can be an advantage for the F35 in dogfights vs non stealth but not stealth planes as stealth planes would be not relly for dogfights like the J20 does not even have a gun Not critical as they would not be in a dogfight situation taking on each other head nearby rather than dog fight with DAS can be useful . More important is if both do battle , which plane will have the advantage . From the start the J35 or even J20 will have the advantage with its features from longer range and better radar system that can detect stealth esp lately reported 3 J20 can detect the F22F35 10000 times larger. More important is the speed and range of the missiles where J35 or J20 can fire first once detection by AWACS or by advanced wingmen etc . Both J20 and J35A having twin engines are able to supercruise besides a superior communications systems from quantum communication to 6G ....which is useful for drones loyal wingmen. I do agree until both do battel we do not actually know . We only know the J35A known features far out class the F35 which has lots of problems with 50% grounded.
@@skyserf btw, the video is obviously biased and assume that the J35A is less stealthy when China has even better stealth coating that can even change frequencies and able to even make non stealthy planes parts stealthy using plasma tech. There are a lot of new Chinese tech that are being developed .
Well, this video does not mention that a major advantage of J-35A over F-35 is its supersonic speed. Any military fan with sufficient knowledge knows that F-35 cannot go supersonic in a practical manner. Speed is vital even in a BVR air combat.
Ya , J35 can super cruise without after burners at mach 2.2 while the F35 at very very best able to do mach1.6 but more likely normally below supersonic speed So assuming the F35 is stationary, the J35 can still fly rings around the F35 !! with longer range missile the J35 will wipe out the F35 ...any time
@@hkfoo3333 well, the key issue is not the top speed, but how long it can last: F-35 can go supersonic for about 2 mins, above that some internal equipments will be over-heated.
@@biochemwang2421 incorrect not internal equipment . Its the outside radar absorb material. However upon testing they were unable to replicate the matter
Significant stealth can be obtained even with external stores. Not nearly to the same degree as with internal weapons only but still an improvement in detection and tracking range over previous fighters. Some stores also have semi stealthy characteristics and there are semi stealthy rails in development as well.
The reflectivity of canards depends greatly on the materials they are made from. While it is suboptimal to have them for maximum stealth it may be necessary to meet other design goals. The stealth penalty may not be as severe as some assume.
China has not had enough time to work out the bugs and refine the J-35. In the US, it takes years & years. They are still in the development stage in China. It is probably not combat ready yet. Comparisons with current fighters are premature.
hell the F-35 still has problems that needs to be ironed out and that's a craft that's still being worked on to this day even if China can copy some aspects of the craft, they won't be able to get the full picture
Excellent video! Looking at the pace by which China is apparently catching up while American and other western allies seem to have all sorts of troubles to make things work on time, within budget and without a multitude of difficulties, I think we can safely say that it is time to get very worried. The fact that some technological advances are thought to be made possible by stealing technology, is all the more alarming imho. First, it says a lot about western cyber security and worse a lot about Chinese ingenuity in that field. Second, the Chinese no longer seem to just copy, but add ideas of their own, improving on the original. And third, China seems to have no trouble getting comparatively far more bang for their yuans than the West gets for its bucks. I'm beginning to wonder if commercial and privately owned defense contractors still have the competitive edge.
All in all, we don't think Chinese cars in their current form can surpass the US, especially when it comes to EV batteries. Therefore, the US government wants to charge 100% tariff to prevent inferior Chinese cars from affecting the living standards of American consumers (it seems that the sales of Chinese EVs in Australia are not bad LOL)🤣
You realize many EV manufacturers use Chinese batteries, right? Many EVs made by Tesla, Toyota, Ford, BMW, and Mercedes use BYD blade batteries. Edit: Additionally, the tariffs were to prevent competition, Chinese EVs safety and quality tests are only inferior to Tesla.

Something many people tend to forget when comparing jets. It will be exceedingly rare to see 1:1 combat. It's an entire web of capabilities which at the moment Chinese can't compete. For example, our king range capability is greatly enhanced by the number of tankers we have compared to the Chinese's. Sure if you do a 1:1 comparison they may have better stats, but they haven't caught up to combat tonnage yet Edit: made this comment premature. They highlight this in the video

I don't think that any of the USA tanker will be able to fly anywhere near China for a 1200 miles radius. Their rocket force and A2AD ensures that. This was the sole reason why USA developed B-21 Raider bomber, to have a chance to penetrate Chinese defense bubble.

@@asimjabbar8445 The Chinese do not use the KLJ-7As for their J-35s. Those are for the JF-17s, which are far more smaller.
@@asimjabbar8445 The 3 array setup is 1 front array and 2 flank array, the front array is still as small as KLJ-7s, and the only source talking about J-35s using KLJ-7 was from 6-8 years ago.

Ok I hate the mfs that always say "it's stolen" about everything Chinese, but like....
That is blatantly an F22, with perhaps a longer nose? And the engine nozzles seem a lot less stealthy, not sure why they went with cones there tbh
F35 also uses conic nozzles. There are trade-offs with flat nozzles. They are less efficient and vector only in 1 axis.
Chinese do not plan to operate outside of their own theatre, so refueling in mid air might not be a priority.

I think it was to keep VTOL capability and still fit on a carrier

NGAD aint ever happening
Indians: AMCA will be done in the year 2150

The J35 twin engine when with the WS19 will be far far more powerful than the single F35 is obvious and can super cruise at 2.2 mach while the F35 can only do at most 1.4 with after burner for a few seconds.
You should mention this as it is very important.
The F35 is designed for stealth and network centric operations, and multirole flexibility not air dominance or high speed interception.

@@skyserf
The DAS can be an advantage for the F35 in dogfights vs non stealth but not stealth planes as stealth planes would be not relly for dogfights like the J20 does not even have a gun
Not critical as they would not be in a dogfight situation taking on each other head nearby rather than dog fight with DAS can be useful .

Well, this video does not mention that a major advantage of J-35A over F-35 is its supersonic speed. Any military fan with sufficient knowledge knows that F-35 cannot go supersonic in a practical manner. Speed is vital even in a BVR air combat.
Ya , J35 can super cruise without after burners at mach 2.2 while the F35 at very very best able to do mach1.6 but more likely normally below supersonic speed
So assuming the F35 is stationary, the J35 can still fly rings around the F35 !! with longer range missile the J35 will wipe out the F35 ...any time

External carriage of weapons AUTOMATICALLY means no stealth and Canards in the J-20 are also major radar reflectors as seen in the French RAFALE.
you are wrong regrading to canards
it's easy to say, but hard to prove.
