great stuff! Any plan to include a sample integration with other mobile platform such as iPhone, WP7, etc After all many appengine users will need to integrate it with several mobile device types including the specific push notification in each of them. Cheers
1) It would be great if the RequestFactory, Proxy and Request interfaces used on the Android app were the same we have at a GWT client app! 2) Even more impressive would be reusing whole GWT client code and run it on Android, after all it is all so similar: activities, XML (uiBinder), etc. ;) Write once deploy anywhere (PaaS era). ;)
I got a NullPointerException from ConcurrentHashMap on the server without any modification to the out-of-the-box test app. I upgraded my JRE to version 7, exception was gone but I still can't register and get "Failure: server error: the client payload version is out of sync with the server" on my Android device. Any pointers to a solution?
I'm trying to test the test application, but my app fails to register me and on say hello it says: The client payload version is out of sync with the server. Can I get a reply with the solution for this problem?
I was banging my head against the wall trying to get this to work. I'm using Ubuntu 11.04 and Eclipse Indigo. I couldn't get the emulator connected the way it should. Then I read Strinder's blog post about having to change the url from 127.0.1.1:8888 to 10.0.2.2:8888 in the Util.java class. Search Android App Engine Strinder for the relevant info
i've been trying to follow this vid step by step, but i dont even have to option to debug as local app engine connected android app, i tried many things, but no luck, anyone knows what to do?
C2DM registration failed to register/unregister when I use this demo in actual device but it works in emulator. Can anyone tell me why it doesn't work in actual device and it works in emulator?
Look how easy it is. Just open a folder and drop 10 to 15 files of pre-made code into your solution, and then you are finished. Please. I think the Android phone is great. Good UI and a lot of good apps. But it is much simpler to develop apps for windows phone 7. Better tools and a lot less code is needed to do the same.
@amcohen123 from what I heard from one of David Chandler's presentation, anyone if free to create open source projects that provide client side APIs so other platforms, such as iOS, can access GAE services. I don't think Google is going to invest any resource on Object-C GAE client any time soon :p. IMO, it has to do with business strategy really...
Guys Xavier is french? It s not the fact that being French prone to peeing. Its just the simple fact that french are not good in giving presentations... hahaha...
This is so cool and has so much potential for new and better Android apps! Great work!
