  • By 1967, war, racism, and poverty had become the dominant issues confronting America and the Freedom Movement. On April 4, Dr. King forcefully speaks out against the Vietnam War with "Beyond Vietnam: A Time to Break Silence," delivered at Riverside Church in New York City. Ten days later, in a speech at Stanford University titled "The Other America," Dr. King addresses race, poverty and economic justice. (At various times in 1967 and '68 he gave slightly different versions of "The Other America" to other audiences. - www.crmvet.org

Martin Luther King Jr. was born and raised to lead, teach, and convey the message that Black folk should be treated fair in this country. Although he faced so many obstacles and even threats to his family and himself, he never flinched. Had he lived I believe that he would have made a difference. His personal example alone was tremendous. A truly great man whose voice is still alive.

Well in one sense love, brotherhood, and nonviolence should never ever change, and so if we open our hearts and ears to the great message here, we can make do much benefit. The details and the struggle will continue to exist as long as there are the unbelievers who bash believers. Because MLK was a man of The Lord through and through, he will live on in his speeches and videos and photos. He spent 5 weeks straight in India with Coretta and this was a profound inspiration to me!

It’s been to long to still have this childish ideology of racism. But the system was built around that ideology. And until those that it doesn’t effect truly understand. It’ll be a never ending cycle. RIP Dr. King

MLK is the man who changed history American . If he were alive now, he would not change his principles. His sermons and calls for peaceful settlement of conflicts, good and light resonate in the hearts of people, regardless of their race and to this day. The words of his last moving speech, titled "I have seen the promised Land," are especially prophetic in light of the fact that he was killed the next day. Killed, but not forgotten, because his incredible courage, decency and sense of justice remained forever in the hearts of future generations.

I might not agree with CRT, depending on the devil in the details. But I feel like Dr. King's sermons and philosophy ought to be taught as part and parcel of Patriotic education, and Character education, in America's schools. Moral education is essential now more than ever. America has not had a greater MORAL voice than Martin Luther King, Jr.

Lovely man of God was MLK. A speech he gave at UCLA in 1965 was recently discovered, having been lost for 50 + years.
Wow... It is epic. It seems that not many people realize that MLK jr spent 5 weeks in India, touring from North to South, and East to West. Hopefully some Indian people still honor him, although I am stationed here in India, and find it to be more racist than even the Black Belt of America (the South). Even a rare few Indians admit it is so racist. But since I was born and grew up in a part of America that didn't have many African American citizens I didn't learn about the racism and civil rights til later in my life. Then I thought about my experiences in India, and well, I consider it a lesson from God to learn what oppression and discrimination and prejudice actually look and FEEL like .

by All manner opposing options and differences .
This shows we haven't understood The very Reson why we are here in the first place . Stupidly
fighting amongst ourselves instead of building each other up ! we strive to take each other down .
