3rd year NU student here who lived in traditional freshman housing! I had a shared bedroom and communal bathrooms, and it was fantastic. bathrooms were always kept clean by staff and my building was fully carpeted and had a communal kitchen which was fun. Freshmen can't choose what building they want, because freshmen are assigned housing via which living-learning community they choose. also, sophomore year/upperclassmen year housing is more expensive because it's apartment-style and not dorms.

Heyyyy, thank you so much for your video. It's honestly so helpful! I just got admitted to Northeastern. I was wondering, is it possible if you could tell me how you appealed to receive more aid? I'm literally on the same boat hahaha
just email the student financial service office a little about your situation and how you’d like to appeal and they should connect you to your financial aid advisor? the system for SFS has changed a little since I did it so when I emailed them I just emailed my financial aid advisor but now you’re not really assigned one? But once you get connected to someone try to stick with them build to build a good relationship since they’ll be the one going to the appeals committee for you. also if you try to call SFS and they say they don’t have an appeals process ignore them cuz they said the same to me but obviously that’s not true lol
omg tysm I applied to Northeastern for the next school year and im waiting to hear back .... stressed asf though, also what did you apply through and when did you get your response? (like did you apply ED1 or ED2 or regular decision)
I applied regular decision! I forgot when decisions came out last year but this year I think they come by April 1st but some will
come out earlier?
the same exact SAT thing happened to me with the first two tests!! i got my second 1460 after months of studying. very frustrating!! i wasn’t able to retake it but i superscored to a 1500 hahahah

hahahah i admit its not too bad but definitely average among schools like northeastern but also, like i mentioned i wouldn’t worry too much about stats! sure it helps but colleges truly look at the whole application and it’s really more about whether or not they think you’re a good fit for what they want from their students and not just if you did well in high school! there are a lot of kids who got lower SAT scores and GPAs and stuff so don’t feel too discouraged! Admissions these days seem so random because of the way they try to find kids who suit their school so it really isn’t all about the stats anymore! You can do this! And even if you don’t get in no worries, there’s so many other schools out there and it’s really what you make of your college experience, sure it helps to like the school you go to but once you get there, pretty much no matter the college you’re gonna learn to love it pretty quickly!
average stats? lmao i got in with a 3.9 weighted gpa and a 1480 sat. idk how.
Damm I got in for mechanical enginering but I would have to pay 42k total per a year including room, board, and fees 😭
Yeah, I’d say middle income students are always thrown under the bus because although they don’t demonstrate as much need as low income students but they definitely still can’t afford to give a paycheck away every year. But I would definitely appeal for more aid! It’s worth a shot and the worst thing that could happen is them saying no and you moving on!

if you apply ED and you get rejected can you apply again regular decision?
sadly i’m pretty sure you can only apply again regular decision if you were deferred, if you get rejected I’m pretty sure you’re not allowed to apply again but definitely email or call the admissions office for the specifics! sorry i’m not the most reliable source, best of luck! 💕

To pay under 10k for such a good university is a literal godsend, I would've been a lot more happy if I were you xd
I was and an definitely very appreciative and definitely not ungrateful, but everyone’s financial situations are different and even paying under 10k a year is not easy for my family. Everyone’s situations are very different so although for some paying 10k for Northeastern is a great deal, for others it just means not being able to attend and I was only just able to attend thanks to the appeal.

Hey, I have a question...if I have a 97 weighted GPA, 1460 SAT and draft a well-written essay and I ED to northeastern, i know there's no way of guaranteeing this, but do you feel like I can get in?

@@soolin.k oh sorry, at my school we use a percentage system where 100 percent would be a 4.0.
@@Slayer-qp6cm ohhhh ok, hahahah then i’d say you have a pretty good chance but like you said there’s no guarantees and i know i keep saying this but college admissions really thinks about the fit so even if your stats are good they may not think northeastern is the right school for you so there’s just really no way to know if you’ll get in or not but at least for now your stats look good hahahha, but i’m also probably not the best person to go to for that. I would check out the northeastern reddit or something, although i think they’re asking that you don’t ask stats questions right now cuz too many people will ask then 😂 but yeah i mean don’t worry about it, you’ve already applied (i’m assuming) so as much as it sucks we all we can do is wait and not stress too much lol. i wish you the best though! fingers crossed you get in! good luck!

as an art director for over 22 years, i have to be honest. why would you go to northeastern for art? it's a huge mistake. many will attend larger universities as a "back up" because they are not fully committed to the creative arts. i hire graphic designers for print work and illustration/photography and the majority come from parsons and sometimes SVA. no one hires from universities. you need to decide what you plan on doing and if it involves art you need to invest in a specialized school of art and design. i'm not trying to be mean, or crush your dreams, but i am afraid you are wasting your time and a LOT of money. good luck.
hahahah thank you for your response, i’m majoring in business and design so not really in the arts but i knew that i wanted to do business and have my own business (currently looks like a sticker business not sure what it’ll look like in the future) which is why i didn’t want to go into art school. i’m also more focused on business than design, i just started off in the creative arts but changed as i started to apply. it also made less sense for me money wise to go to art school, however thank you for your input! :) i personally don’t think it’s a huge mistake (although i guess we never know in retrospect hahhha) and just as others who major in the arts at any other school i don’t think the world is limited to parsons or SVA for jobs or the work that you do as an art director. the students at our school who do co-ops in the arts and later on get jobs in the arts shows that but i can see where you’re coming from and thank you for the constructive advice! 😊
