Comedian & political satirist, Bill Maher, is guest on 'The Late Late Show with Tom Snyder,' during this September 14, 1998 interview, during prosecutor Ken Starr's investigation of Bill Clinton-Monica Lewinsky. Tom's opening and closing is also included. This is the second of my Snyder-Maher interviews posted.

Bill Maher (b.1956) is an American comedian, political commentator, and television host. He is known for the HBO political talk show Real Time with Bill Maher and the similar late-night show called Politically Incorrect, originally on Comedy Central and later on ABC.
Tom Snyder (1936 - 2007) was an American pioneering television personality and figure in broadcast journalism who brought a no non-sense attitude to broadcast television news. He was best known for his late nigh talk shows Tomorrow (NBC) and The Late Late Show with Tom Snyder (CBS). His engaging style combined with his irascible attitude, made him one of the best known journalists of his time, back when having a nationally televised and thought provoking late night talk show actually meant something. It was a totally different time in television, as the news was delivered as information with no spin or opinion of the newsman. He marked the end of an era.

I routinely watch all these old TS episodes at night around the time slot they would’ve aired as if they’re still on tv. Gotta love youtube and the uploaders who bring us this content. 👍👌

T.S. was both a kind and gentle man. I would correspond with him from time to time and he always wrote me back. I met my Broadcasting Hero during his final season at CBS.

Tom was a class act. I was a kid when I first watched his Tomorrow show. Love his voice, loved his attitude. You could see his love he had for his craft!! Sad you don't see this any longer.

3:40 Mr. Weaver was a visionary. He created great programming concepts that are still on the air today: "Today," and "Tonight." Mr. Weaver also introduced the ideas that fueled advertising revenue in how networks could produce their own shows and sell them.

T.S. had a masterful way of communicating with his guests in getting them to reveal things that they normally would not in a "regular" talk show setting.

As with most people, I find myself liking Maher at times and despising him at others. Very rarely do I like or despise someone completely.

@@bfsgman I get you. Maher has always been arrogant. he thinks he is the deal, but his arrogance pushed him sometimes to the verge of greatness, stood up to the majority opinions, president w Bush, then popular, religions etc...today we are witnessing the worst of Bill the conformist.

No one could go from serious to silly as quickly as Tom… It was always kind of annoying, as he was always in your face, either laughing hard or angrily pushing hard… It’s useful to watch his interviews with Charles Manson and Howard Stern… They reveal the gargantuan, ego that was his trademark 1:08

    • @markdraine3571

Yeah, I liked watching Tom but he could be a real asshole. He really was that way toward John Lydon of Sex Pistols and McCartney and Wings .He was asking about the earrings the Wings guys had on ..Paul ,was like, WTF... He said, " You know, really, we are pretty normal people ."
