George Carlin (1937 - 2008) was an American stand-up comedian, actor, amateur philosopher, author, and social critic. He was known for his black comedy and reflections on politics, the English language, psychology, religion, and various taboo subjects. He and his "seven dirty words" comedy routine were central to the 1978 U.S. Supreme Court case F.C.C. v. Pacifica Foundation, in which a 5-4 decision affirmed the government's power to regulate indecent material on the public airwaves. Widely regarded as one of the most important and influential American stand-up comics of all time, Carlin was dubbed by one newspaper to be "the dean of counterculture comedians".
Tom Snyder (1936 -2007) was an American television personality, news anchor, and radio personality best known for his late night talk shows Tomorrow, on the NBC television network in the 1970s and 1980s, and The Late Late Show, on the CBS Television Network in the 1990s.

'I'm a member of the human race, technically, but I don't go to any of the meetings'. Classic.

If I had to pick a living comedian philosophically closest to Carlin today, I'd pick Doug Stanhope.

Compare this to what passes for comedy and comedians now... carlin’s warnings on every aspect involving stagnation, devolution and regression ring truer now more than ever 💀

Someone has said: "If you want to tell people the truth you better make them laugh, else the kill you for it." Oscar Wilde, I think though it seems Voltaire or maybe Mark Twain said something similar. George Bernard Shaw, perhaps. All the best to all of you!
