    Thanks for the recommendation! I am using 24-105mm lens. Which diopter you recommend: 1x, 2x, 4x?

    • @carstenschlag

      All four come in a set so you should get all of them! My favorite is 4x and x10. I feel like 4x gets you up really close but gives a wider macro feel while the x10 gives you the craziest upclose compositions you couldn’t get any other way. Really appreciate you watching man!!

    Nice idea. Tried it before but felt that there was too much curvature on the edges of the frame. Now that could be because I used a 67mm diopter with a 67mm lens thread.. Could it be that it’s better to use a step up ring?
    E.g. maybe better I went with 82mm diopters to pair with my 67mm lenses… Like @0:25 I see you used a step up ring from 49mm to 82mm. Since the glass is thicker in the middle, maybe that helps reduce the curvature in the image. Did you try your 82mm diopters using a 82mm threaded lens? What were your results like?
    Curious what lens you used with your sample footage? Was it all using a step up ring? 49mm threaded lens to 82mm diopter?

    • @carstenschlag

      Hey there! So I used 82mm diopters on a 82mm lens. And for me it seemed like the curves weren’t too bad! Some focal lengths are def worse than others. So for me I just use a zoom lens and play around with the focal length till it looks right. I’d be interested to see what it would look like with a step up ring and a larger diopter, it may help. Sorry if that wasn’t too helpful of a response. Appreciate you watching man!!!

    Why don’t more cinematographers talk about this tool? Diopters are definitely as necessary as any other filter and it’s not until you use them when you realize that.

    Hey there! Really appreciate your content and effort. I wanted to ask you if there will be any difference if I use the diopters with some step up rings, but the kind of step up rings that you stack on one another?

    • @carstenschlag

      Hey there! Honestly I’m not sure since I haven’t tried! My guess is that it would change your close and far focus distances. And depending on how many you stack you may see the edges. It depends though on how many you stack and the thickness of them. Sorry I couldn’t be more helpful!! Really appreciate you watching!!

    read some reviews about the product and some say the image becomes very blurry, although in your footage it's pretty sharp. have you sharpened in post or added some effects to it in post?

    • @carstenschlag

      Nope not sharpened at all ! My guess is they were not using them with a deep enough f stop. For any macro lens, probe lens or diopter you have to shoot at like a minimum of f8 preferably like a f12-14. Because you are so close you need that deep depth of field to get everything in focus. To compensate for light try to use them in places close to big windows or outside. Or if you have a film light bounce it into the ceiling above where you are shooting. Hope that helps! Appreciate you watching Danny!!

    • @VisualDanny
