    In this video, I talked about the hidden gem of Micro Four Thirds, Olympus 75mm f/1.8. It is truly an excellent lens to use for portrait, concert photography, product photography, and many other applications.
    The lens is truly sharp, one of the sharpest lens I've ever used in general, and it produces stunning result. It's not labeled as a pro lens, and not as expensive as the pro lens, but it can definitely create pro results. Such a wonderful lens for medium telephoto focal length with relatively large aperture.

    I have had the 75mm for a few years now. It is a part of my Pen F travel kit along with the 25mm and 45mm F1.8 lenses. However for portraits I really prefer my 40-150 F2.8 now. Which actually is part of my EM1X wildlife kit along with the 300mm f4.

    Hi. Nice review! Can you please tell me what macro ring you were showing us?

    • @Gary_W
      @Gary_W  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      It was a cheap knock out brand screw on macro filter that I bought many years ago. Can't remember the brand though.

      Yes it will, all MFT lenses will work on all MFT bodies regardless of the brand.

    Hi Gray, Thanks for your great videos. I have EM10 Mark II + Zuiko F1.8 45mm + Zuiko 14-42 mm kit lens. I would like to have another lens especially for street photographing. What would you buy in my place? olympus 40-150 f4-5.6 or olympus 75mm f1.8 ? I am interested in street photographing and portraits of people.

      Hi Seyed, thank you for the comment. For street photography, I really don't think the 75mm or the 40-150 will do the job, they are more specialized toward portrait. I would suggest something like 17mm f1.8 or 25mm f1.8 by Olympus, or Panasonic 15mm f1.7, 20mm f1.7, 25mm f1.7. Do you think it should be purchased 75mm or 45mm? I can't decide..

    • @Gary_W
      @Gary_W  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have both, 45mm is used more often, but 75mm gives much more pleasing result, albeit a bit more limiting because it is considered a long lens. Hope this helps

    What is the name and brand of the macro adapter u used?

    • @Gary_W
      @Gary_W  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello watumbuka, if I'm not mistaken it is called "Optic Pro", I bought them from a camera store in Singapore. It's not particularly good, I don't really recommend it, but it can help to get the job done if that's all you really have.

      Thank you so much for that Gary! I saw that Olympus makes them too, I’ll check them out and see if they’re any good. Much success to you

    Is this sharper than Nocticron 42.5mm f1.2 ?

    • @Gary_W
      @Gary_W  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello, I haven't personally compared the 75mm with Nocticron 42.5mm f1.2, but I do think that even if the Nocticron is sharper(especially wide open), the 75mm wouldn't be too far.

  • @garybrown9719

    So it works best on Panasonic cameras

    • @Gary_W
      @Gary_W  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I previously used it in my already sold E-PL6 too without any problem except for the slightly slower AF speed. It should work fine on either Panasonic or Olympus. Hope this helps, happy shooting :)

      I do actually 😁, but because of the jump cut transition between each clips, it seemed like I didn't breath 😁
