Love the split screen idea, amazing what you can see, in what seems an inconspicuous woodland.
Thanks. I wanted to do split screens for all the shots but my TG-5 got a memory card error and I had to stop. You'll see I'm using it in the beginning but not using it later in the video.
The photowalks are back! I really like the flash/extension tube bluebell shot in color.

Was at Point of Rocks today fixing some electronics for CSX today but there's a good nature hike there at the C&O Canel trail. I believe it stretches from Washington to Cumberland along the Shi-tomic and Shenandoah River
He has such a good eye, managing to pluck lovely images out of quite unpromising surroundings!

This is a lens I don’t use often enough but it never fails to put a smile on my face when I do. Great to see it being used for something other than portraits.

1:26 The field of view on the 75mm is tight!🤣👍 Sometimes even the 45mm surprises me. Very enjoyable lenses to use.

I love the 75mm f1.8. Whenever I take it out I always come home with at least one keeper and often much more. On my Flickr album for this lens I have the title "The lens I do no need, but definitely want".

I've owned the venerable, 75mm copy since 2012. I still love that lens and I mean love that lens. I usually take street portraits, from a distance, tele landscape and often do video with it as well. I absolutely enjoy seeing the lens content of other photographers and videographers posting current projects almost a decade after its release! Meaning? I truly enjoyed this. Thank you.

This and Olympus 45mm 1.8 are classic prime lenses that every micro four thirds camera lover must own, along with the 25mmf1.8 The 45f1.8 is a great value for money as well as a great street photography lens. The 75mmf1.8 outperforms the pro lenses in my opinion, but I could be very wrong and this may be only my opinion. The 75mmf1.8 also makes for a great street and landscape photography lens as it allows the photographer to away from the scene and be a little more discreet.
I totally agree. I know some prefer the pro zooms over primes. I prefer primes.
Enjoyed this video, and you got some very nice shots. Loved using the beer cozy as a snoot. Just shows what creative DIY can do. I made a bounce card out of two pieces of thin craft foam (white and black) cut and shaped to size, some spray glue, and some velcro. Works great!

The flash photographs I liked very much. It was also nice to see the 75mm in action. The lens gets very good reviews but is not used much to show what can be achieved with it. Your setting up and making ready is really great Thank you

Really thought out use of technology to document your way of working. I have the 75mm and have the sense I never really made proper use of it. I see wide angle naturally, but I'm a bit slow with telephotos - so this shows the way nicely. Like you I also shoot in natural environments much like this one and explore them deliberately in ways I recognise as similar to your approach here. So time to take the 75mm out and explore some of my favorite spots along the Canning river here in Western Australia. I'd add your deliberate way of working, taking time to see, and look for the right angle and framing, surfaced the visual process in an extremely helpful way. I was impressed with what you did with that flash. I've used snoots in the studio, but your results were really striking. I have 30 mm macro too but the 75mm with an extension right is another way to get close.

I have a Nikon DX 7200 and discovered when I used a full-frame 50mm lens it turned into a 75mm on the crop sensor camera: opens up a whole new world! Thanks for this video

Thanks Rob,the long awaited photo walk with that 75mm happened at last😉😁😁. Maybe a last conclusion on your experience using it like you did ..not doing potrets... in the next live chat will be nice. It looks like it could be used also maybe with some cityscapes and seascapes. A variety of uses where the area\scenery is not to tight. Liked the video by the way.

Hi Rob, very enjoyable, see you use minus 0.3EV most of the time. I tend to bracket in third step,s, then bring up shadow,s in post, gives the lie to ETTR advice.
I like contrasty pictures with deep blacks, so dialing in a little negative exposure helps me get that look. I often add low key gradation and dial in -4 shadows for jpgs.

Man your sure making it hard to save for the 150-400mm
You could buy the 75mm, use it for 1 or 2 years and by then the 150-400 will be available. Maybe even with a discount that will offset the price of the 75mm.
Nice shots, Rob! My favorite walk-around lens is the 14-150... I find I shoot a lot in the 70/80 range.
It was hard to not break out my 14-42mm that I brought with me. My preferred lens is the 17mm and going 75mm was challenging.
@@RobTrek The 14-42 EZ is my favorite lens (with auto-open lens cap) on my Pen-F (14-150 feels too big on the Pen). I bring along the Oly 60mm Macro (which is also great for more distant shots).
BTW, I just got the TTartisans 35mm f/1.4 ($73) - back to my film days of manual focus. It works great with focus peaking on the Pen-F - better than expected results.
@@valdiskrebs566 I tend to use smaller primes on my PenF and really liked the 14-42ez before it broke. I really only use the 14-150 on my em5ii (with grip). Interesting lens you bought. I use peaking for general shots and magnify when focus is critical like in closeups.
@@RobTrek yeah, read a lot of good reviews on it, and for $73, it is hard to go wrong. It is a great portrait lens and focuses close, with nice bokeh, for nature shots like flowers, leaves and bugs.Working with it does slow you down. Will try to use it in zone focus mode for some point-and-shoot snapshots - f/8 and around 5m. It is very sharp at f/5.6 thru f/11.

On your White Balance you have A+3 and G-3. Can you explain this please.
On cloudy days or when I use flash, the auto white balance still looks a bit on the cool side, so I dial in some Amber and Magenta to warm up the image.

Thanks, Ed. It's an Olympus TG-5. I use it sometimes for things like in this video. I attach both cameras to a simple flash bracket and attach a small tripod to the flash bracket.

Nice video, Rob. I admire your courage to go out with a 75mm. I think one of the problems is just to see with the naked eye a scene that works. Next challenge is the 40-150 at 150mm only!

I probably did since you already have the 40-150 f/2.8 (I think). Many of the shots in this video were at higher than f/2.8 and I could have easily done all of the them at f/2.8 or higher.
Audio ducking man. Gotta sometimes manually hold down the bit when you pause.
