It was interesting listening to your Battery observations, with regards to your watts used, and the DC watts input, it looks like (basing it on my own Power-Bank usage/experience) that you are generating more watts from your Solar cells than what you are using, and yet you had your generator on for 3 hours charging the batteries? And when you moored up, you moored up in the shade, and not in the sunshine to charge your batteries (up to 100%). Sorry I am being a bit Geeky this week and wanting to learn. Lovely that you had your friends and guests to share your wonderful times with. Good to see Dexter. Brinklow Bash looked great fun. I loved the way Anthony stayed out in the rain. I get what you mean re that mooring and normally, we wouldn’t pick a shady spot, but we knew we were away overnight and wanted the safety of an off side mooring. Hi Paul and Anthony. Love your channel. We have a fully electric 57 foot narrow boat. You have to be careful with consumption.However, we have a washing dryer a dishwasher and microwave wave with an induction hob with an electric oven. To do this we need 3 kw of solar on the roof, this allow us to cruise whilst producing more solar energy than the motors use. I recommend that you talk to your provider and increase solar panels to enable you to to produce more power to enable you to be carbon neutral. We also have have a diesel stove and generator which both run on hvo (hydro treated vegetable oil) so if the solar is insufficient in the winter you can run this and still be eco friendly and also ensure you have enough power. Just talk to your provider, we know you want to be eco friendly but also it’s cheaper it is the future, and as ageing eco warriors we want to encourage youngsters to follow our dream. I know in the vlog you talk about your batteries how many have you got and what capacity? Also with this cloudy rainy summer are you running your generator much
@@cotcottage2788 we have 4 200ah lithium batteries. Definitely need to run the generator more on cloudy days. If we get a couple of consecutive days of cloud then we may run it for an hour just to top up. It is a big bank to fill.

We have a cruise (Princess Cruise lines) around Great Britain next June and I would LOVE to add a few days after the ocean cruise to do some kind of narrow boat trip in England. Do you have ANY recommendations? We would port in South Hampton after the Princess cruise and could go just about anywhere in England. No narrow boat experience but I am so hooked ! I'd do the locks, and hubby could "pilot"......Love to hear ANY ideas

Oh that’s 10,000 watts if that’s how much it drains the batteries they won’t last long , I thought the max was. 6 kw inverter . If you run your motor it should tell you on the screen how much power it’s using can’t use 10kw all at once surly
I don’t know Alison to be honest. He has been in talks with the battery manufacturer and they have suggested a different wiring configuration to hopefully provide more equal charge and discharge. Will let you know how we get on. Have a good weekend ❤

Brave soul to stay out in it! I probably wouldn't have made it for too terribly long. 🌧 I love weeping willows so that was a perfect place to moor. Such a view through the skylight! I know a willow can be a problem if you are moving. They tend to smack you in the face---but they are a beautiful tree.
I hope Liam has figured out the battery problem by now. I don't claim to understand how it works but one battery reading that low is odd.

I know in the vlog you talk about your batteries how many have you got and what capacity? Also with this cloudy rainy summer are you running your generator much
@@cotcottage2788 we have 4 200ah lithium batteries. Definitely need to run the generator more on cloudy days. If we get a couple of consecutive days of cloud then we may run it for an hour just to top up. It is a big bank to fill.

We have a cruise (Princess Cruise lines) around Great Britain next June and I would LOVE to add a few days after the ocean cruise to do some kind of narrow boat trip in England. Do you have ANY recommendations? We would port in South Hampton after the Princess cruise and could go just about anywhere in England. No narrow boat experience but I am so hooked ! I'd do the locks, and hubby could "pilot"......Love to hear ANY ideas

So how many watts does your Electric boat motors use I’m guessing 500 watts?
Motor is 10kW.
Oh that’s 10,000 watts if that’s how much it drains the batteries they won’t last long , I thought the max was. 6 kw inverter . If you run your motor it should tell you on the screen how much power it’s using can’t use 10kw all at once surly
We have a 8kW inverter.
No, nothing like that power wise. We only use about 10% of the battery on a four hour cruise.
Is Liam a qualified solar installer? I live off grid in Australia and if one of my batteries was that low, I would be concerned.
I don’t know Alison to be honest. He has been in talks with the battery manufacturer and they have suggested a different wiring configuration to hopefully provide more equal charge and discharge. Will let you know how we get on. Have a good weekend ❤
