  • There is more to Conwy than just the castle!
I've perhaps discovered the best kept secrets of Conwy!
Conwy Castle, built by Edward I as part of his "iron ring" is world famous thanks to it's UNESCO listing.
However, did you know that the listing includes the fortified town walls?
Or that a section of the town walls is decorated with Carera marble reliefs?
How did Robert Stephenson fit a railway line into the town?
The town became a victim of the famous or infamous Beeching cuts. But the station has been reopened!
Did William Wordsworth really pen his poem We Are Seven after visiting the town?
Did you know that there is a historic community orchard where a Wassailing ritual is held each January?
The smallest house in Britain is well known, but how did it come to be built?
And what IS Nobby racing? (Don't worry - it's not what you think!)
Join me as we discover some of the best kept secrets in the historic, medieval North Wales town of Conwy!
If you'd like to follow in our footsteps by visiting Conwy, some useful information is on our website at www.haveagrand...

Did you ever go to Old Colwyn? Its full of history and gorgeous nooks and crannies that one doesnt see from driving through. Get a push bike if you havent got a car. I didnt have one till I was fourty and I kick myself about not getting one sooner

I got on a bus last Wednesday wanting to go to conwy from Llandudno.
I ask the diver "does this bus goes to conwy beach please", he said" yes it goes along the main road".
Anway I ended up in colwyn, either it was my accent or his bad hearing 😂

Gotta love public transport in North Wales!
What the driver forgot to mention is that the bus on which you was riding DOES go to Conwy....
      On Thursdays, Fridays and Mondays.......
Just not on Wednesdays when that bus operates on a different route and goes to Colwyn.
      🤞🚌🚌🚌🚍🚍

Thankyou for taking the time to comment!
At present I don't own a car, so I use public transport (bus and train). This makes getting to Snowdonia expensive and very slow.
However, there are some places I am planning to visit. I spent much of my childhood holidays in Snowdonia, Betws y Coed and Llanrwst!
