Once again I can’t thank you enough for taking the time to help us aspiring guitar players , I am 88years you got and you have given the motivation to keep going with my dream of playing this music your videos are so inspiring .thank you
Only to pleased to help.
Hi Simon, Glad I found you. I achieved grade 6 (Trinity Collage of Music) 15 years ago but after my tutor passed away I couldn't find anyone else locally and with a lot happening in my life couldn't find the time to keep it up. I now can't remember anything at all but have retired and have just started picking my guitar up and have started with 3 of your pieces. Thank you so much and keep up the good work. Regards Ian.
Ian McNulty you think its worth getting lessons? I'm learning just fine on my own
@@ophiolatreia93 of course is worth, a teacher can be very useful at taking you to a good level in shorter than reinventing the wheel. If you just want to be a campfire musician, then is fine. There is a humanizing aspect when you have the right teacher
@@javiercisternasnajle I've played for 25 years without a single lesson. Sure it takes longer to learn things, but if you discover them yourself you gain a deeper understanding of the instrument. Its also great to train your ear to figure songs out by simply listening to it. Even if you want to cheat (which is completely okay) and take lessons or use literature aid, there are so many free videos and material online nowadays that paying for private lessons would be a waste of money. Maybe a masterclass if you are an advanced player could help with musicality or little tweaks, but most of the beginner/intermediate stuff can be had for free online. But it all depends on each individual, and having a friend to guide and motivate you can be helpful for a lot of people, esp if you have the money to pay for that companionship.

Glad to be of help.
I just want to take a moment , to appreciate this man he is not only give full lessons on TH-cam , he also holds humility by how he holds his guitar.

Simon was my first classical guitar teacher who I studied with for 2 years, which led to an amazing life-long career as a professional classical guitarist which has lasted 40 years now..thankyou Simon..I will never forget studying this piece and many others with you in those early years..I was truly blessed to have had such an encouraging and fine teacher..all the very best to you..Andrew
Hello Andrew - thank you for your kind comments and keep playing.
We aspiring guitar palyers cannot thank you enough maestro.
Only to pleased to help out.
Wow! best tutorial on youtube straight to the point and easy to follow. Glad I found this channel. I can now play the first section and I'm now looking forward to part two.
Keep at it.
OMG my old guitar tutor. Bloody hell your still going. Love you dude
Yep! still going - life in the old dog yet.
Great to chat with you again Maestro. I would love to come hang out with you at some point. My budget has now increased to around 4 k with help of finance lol. Once I have committed and broke myself back in I will get in touch. Good health to you.
Simon, I am 60 years old and started playing classical guitar recently. I happened across your youtube videos and I am now teaching myself to play Asturias based on your instruction, thank you for helping this older student. This is fun! Thank you William H.
Thanks for watching - I hope you enjoy learning/playing it. Take your time.
Simon, this is great! Took 10 years of lessons ages ago and lost almost all of my repertoire. you are helping a great deal to get it back. Thanks so much
Happy to help!
I've been playing guitar for around 60 years, mainly finger-picking blues. Now, inspired by my grandson, I am attempting to learn this wonderful piece on my old Yamaha FG200. I doubt I will be able to get my wrist in the right place, but thanks to your excellent tutorial I am enjoying trying! Very many thanks for your time and trouble. It really makes a difference.
Only to pleased to help - take your time and enjoy.😀
Your videos are priceless. The amount of wisdom and hints and tips you offer up for free is truly remarkable in today's world. I fully appreciate the value of your time and effort and thank you for it.
Glad you like them!
I watched many youtubers teaching just first part free and other parts by paying. You are a true generous person who covered all parts with detailed techniques without asking for money.
Two years ago when i listened this piece, i fantasized this tune and i was like when i will be that much expert to just start thinking of learning it. And a week ago, finally i took courage and started watching your video, and today i have covered this first part in slow speed. I just wanted to thank you for your time and generosity. God bless you. ☺
Thank you for your kind comments. I hope you continue to learn this piece but please take your time and be patient, it can take months for your fingers to gain strength and stamina to play this section.
This is the best lesson for this song I’ve found. Thank you!
Pleased to help.
🇵🇭🇵🇭 I've been playing guitar for 5 years had rock n roll influences and fingerstyles now I'm turning 21 and this is one the best classical masterpiece I had ever seen. I wanted to develop my guitar skills and saw this in social media played by many and MOSTLY European and South American guitar players who learned classic and flamenco guitar like Marcin. Seeing this vid expanded my point of view in guitar, I get along from the start of the vid and totally playing right and at 12:50 it's pretty more challenging. Wish me luck to finish this masterpiece #keepgoing
Only to pleased to help out. You'll manage it but take your time , this is a difficult piece and requires many hours of practice.
@@boltonguitarstudio3115 Absolutely sir and thank you 😊

Thank you for your kind words.
Thank you! Your for-parts tutorial is the most thorough and comprehensive I could find in the net. Being a hobbist I consider your lessons as those that provide a real way for a non-professional guy to overcome the challenging difficulties of the piece. Thanks!!!
My pleasure - Enjoy playing 'Asturias'
Well done very right to the point video lesson. Thank you for posting, now to the challenge :-)
Glad it was helpful!
Thank you Sr, you're amazing. apreciated your tutorial, big hugs from Colombia!
Only to pleased in helping my fellow guitarists.
Thank you so for your patience ,and taking the time to show us how to tackle this lovely piece of music ,it is somthing I never thought I would be able to attempt in my wildest dreams. 🙏🏼
Only to pleased to help. Please take your time in learning this piece as it is a difficult piece of music both from a technical and interpretative aspect. The 2nd section can be difficult for the LH fingers so do lots of practice but in short amounts and if the fingers become painful or tired rest the hand. Eventually you will be able to play this piece.
Fair maiden, here i come!

Thnk u.........after 5 year of searching i got u
Glad to be of help.
It was the best. Thanks so much for this
You're very welcome!
This is the third tutorial I've looked at for this and I'd say it's best for two reasons. Firstly, pace, it's not too slow and it's not too quick. Secondly you shoe the melody minus the 1st and 2nd string additions. Of course they have to be there, but while you're getting the melody right they can be set aside to be picked up later. Thanks!
Thanks.
Grande Bolton..👏👏👏👏
Many thanks.
Thanks So much Simon. You're the best tutor.
Glad to be of help.
Hi Simon,
I’m so glad that I’ve found your tutorials. Im really enjoying learning this piece. Thankyou Dean Harper
Glad it helps.
Thanks to your really great tutorials I will be able to play this wonderful piece! Bars 38 and 39 were so far a hindrance for me😃👍😘🍀
Yes those two bars never sounded good to me even when Segovia played them. You can thank John Williams for that fingering - be sure to keep the 2nd finger down on the 2nd string to make the position shift smooth with plenty of slow practice needed.
God bless you!
Only to pleased to help out.
Great vid...very helpful..thanks!

Thank you.
jUST BOUGHT A CEDER TOP gUITAR , sounding awesome ,nearly at the end of this tutorial now .Thankyou
the last bit at the very end is hard . to position fingers .
Enjoy your new guitar.
Just be patient and practice slowly and if the fingers hurt just rest the hand. You will do it eventualy but these pieces can take months to learn.
@@boltonguitarstudio3115 my little finger , ouch on that Arpeggio . Grrr lol .
Keep at it - I have complete faith in you.
sir Simon thanks a lot
My pleasure - enjoy.
Thank you sir :) I'm 14 and very surprised I learned to play this from your tutorial
Thank you - I'm only to pleased to help out, now enjoy playing 'Asturias' .
Ur lessons is very good. I m impress
Glad to be of help.
Nice one Simon thanks! You’ve cleared a lot of stuff up there,! I was trying to double stop and bar those notes on the seventh fret, but I see they just have to be played individually! Also I was trying to use all fingers, when simply thumb and ‘I’ is a lot more powerful...and easier!
Glad it was helpful!
I was wondering how you're resonating B sounded so smooth and fluid, brilliant descrpition on the alternate picking technique. Thank you for the lesson good Sir.
Glad you liked it! The resonating 'B' depends on the sustaining quality of the guitar.
Thanks a lot this is a great help in trying to conquer this piece of music, well done
My pleasure.
