As a Serbian with family from Bosnia I can tell you that this is absolutely not the case. Bosnians are very nice people and the fact that the reporter had to travel to one isolated village to make his point proves exactly the opposite of what he is saying.
I agree. I'm American, but we had a large Bosnian community where I grew up in Chicago, all first generation from the war there. They are very warm and welcoming people, and from my understanding, they hold very moderate religious views. Most of my Bosnian friends drank alcohol, didn't pray regularly, etc. Islam was for them mostly about family, culture, values, etc. The Bosnian government also rejected Salafist ideology during the war and asked Bin Laden and his fighters to leave the country, which they did. Even Christopher Hitchens said Bosnians are among the most multicultural people in Europe.

Bosnia and Herzegovina was Croatia only during the NDH from 1941 to 1945. In Medieval times, prior to the Ottoman conquest, Bosnia had its own distinct heritage under the Tvrtko Kotromanić dinasty which included Roman Catholics, but a substantial population of his kingdom consisted of adherents of the Bosnian Church (Bogomils) and the Serbian Orthodox Church. Croats didn't create anything they just stole other people's land and heritage.

Dear BBC, May I just point out my utter dissapointment in the use of your terminology during this video. You insist on refering to my ethnicity as a religious group. Bosnians are free to be of any religion they like including non-religious. In fact, I submit to you that you will find it hard to find any Bosnian that does not excersize that religious and cultural freedom. Take the word of a man that has 'all of the above' religions in his direct family circle. Although it is true that there are people living in Bosnia that prefer to define themselves as Croats and Serbs (among others), may I just remind you that Muslims are a religious group and not an ethnic one? Let me tell you something as a young man that lives in zenica all my life. That same mujahedins when they came in our city started shooting over our heads on river beneth student dorm in crkvice (one of the neighbourhoods in zenica), they pulled earings from ears of kids in the street many times, becouse they just ocupated that dorm. Over our heads bullets whistling, i was 11 years old. There was damb on that litle river and there was a lot of children at that time there when mujahedin got on the window of dorm and started to shot from kalasnikov over our heads. Just to scare people from there becouse that nudity was not acceptable with their religion.Then city major moved them out of the city in one village outside of zenica called trokuce. We did not want them, we did not ask for them to come here. Letargy of european politicians for bosnian problem in coherence with bosnian fundamental government and politicians made that problem. All of them came in over croatia. Big part of problem over islamic fundamentalism in bosnia after war have to do with european ghetoization of bosnia. Let me ask you, why citizen of croatia is so much diferent from bosnian, why people of croatia hade all civil rights untouched, right to travel without visa and right to get jobs in eu, but you all made us caged like animals almost for 20 years. Rise of that fundamentalism in bosnia started with that. Hello, Bosnian resident here. Ummm.. Bosnia is fine. Sarajevo is one of the friendliest places for foreign visitors, people say they feel totally comfortable here. Also, we aren’t Muslims like the Arabs. We are far more relaxed and non extreme. But of course, every group, even Bosnians, have their extremists.
This is not true, I live in Bosnia and I have a well-known situation. There is no terrorism there, and it should be known. This man is from Bosnia, but in every state there is a radical, and so in Bosnia. This is exactly what the Serbian community fought against - Islamic extremism which was promoted and supported by Bosnia's leaders Izetbegovic and his clique. These were extreme nationalists hell bent on making a pure Muslim Bosnia - something the Serbs fought against. This BBC piece is one of the rare documentaries which actually notes that Serbs were also victims and ethnically cleansed from their homes.

The Islamic extremism is very much alive and well in Bosnia. In WWII the Mufti of Jerusalem was in Sarajevo with Himmler Hitler's leading henchman, to organize Muslim SS divisions. Then Bosnia' new leader Izetbegovic, a self proclaimed extremist, published is Islamic Declaration. The Serbs of Bosnia defended against this extremism then and now. Finally, any war crimes should and have been punished.

Christianity as we know it was created in Europe unlike Islam. The main forms of Christianity: Catholicism, Orthodox and Protestantism were all created in Europe but it originated in Palestine (the region). So most Christianity practised today is from Europe while every form of Islam (Sunni, Shia, Ibadi) and their Schools originated and were created in the Middle East/ North Africa.

As a Serbian with family from Bosnia I can tell you that this is absolutely not the case. Bosnians are very nice people and the fact that the reporter had to travel to one isolated village to make his point proves exactly the opposite of what he is saying.

I agree. I'm American, but we had a large Bosnian community where I grew up in Chicago, all first generation from the war there.
They are very warm and welcoming people, and from my understanding, they hold very moderate religious views. Most of my Bosnian friends drank alcohol, didn't pray regularly, etc. Islam was for them mostly about family, culture, values, etc. The Bosnian government also rejected Salafist ideology during the war and asked Bin Laden and his fighters to leave the country, which they did.
Even Christopher Hitchens said Bosnians are among the most multicultural people in Europe.

Bosnia and Herzegovina was Croatia only during the NDH from 1941 to 1945. In Medieval times, prior to the Ottoman conquest, Bosnia had its own distinct heritage under the Tvrtko Kotromanić dinasty which included Roman Catholics, but a substantial population of his kingdom consisted of adherents of the Bosnian Church (Bogomils) and the Serbian Orthodox Church. Croats didn't create anything they just stole other people's land and heritage.

Not really since it's mostly muslims who support bosnian national team. Croats and Serbs support croatian and serbian national teams respectivelly. I'm sure there are some who support the bosnian national team, but it's an exception rather than a rule. Bosnian NT is a muslim NT, you can see it by the demographics of the team, which is purely muslim, and also by the fact that good portion of croatian NT is made up from bosnian croats, who probably never even thought of playing for bosnia.

May I just point out my utter dissapointment in the use of your terminology during this video. You insist on refering to my ethnicity as a religious group. Bosnians are free to be of any religion they like including non-religious. In fact, I submit to you that you will find it hard to find any Bosnian that does not excersize that religious and cultural freedom. Take the word of a man that has 'all of the above' religions in his direct family circle.
Although it is true that there are people living in Bosnia that prefer to define themselves as Croats and Serbs (among others), may I just remind you that Muslims are a religious group and not an ethnic one? We (Bosnians) are a nation, I think we have earnt the right to call ourselves that and it would befit the BBC to observe that. It is really tiring to see my country constantly diminished in such an unenlightened manner.

That same mujahedins when they came in our city started shooting over our heads on river beneth student dorm in crkvice (one of the neighbourhoods in zenica), they pulled earings from ears of kids in the street many times, becouse they just ocupated that dorm. There was damb on that litle river and there was a lot of children at that time there when mujahedin got on the window of dorm and started to shot from kalasnikov over our heads. Just to scare people from there becouse that nudity was not acceptable with their religion.Then city major moved them out of the city in one village outside of zenica called trokuce. We did not want them, we did not ask for them to come here. Letargy of european politicians for bosnian problem in coherence with bosnian fundamental government and politicians made that problem. All of them came in over croatia. Big part of problem over islamic fundamentalism in bosnia after war have to do with european ghetoization of bosnia. Let me ask you, why citizen of croatia is so much diferent from bosnian, why people of croatia hade all civil rights untouched, right to travel without visa and right to get jobs in eu, but you all made us caged like animals almost for 20 years. Rise of that fundamentalism in bosnia started with that. What do you expect from young people that never went out of bosnia, what do you expect from children that was brought up to be affraid of difference. Hello, Bosnian resident here. Ummm.. Bosnia is fine. Sarajevo is one of the friendliest places for foreign visitors, people say they feel totally comfortable here. Also, we aren’t Muslims like the Arabs. We are far more relaxed and non extreme. But of course, every group, even Bosnians, have their extremists.

The Islamic extremism is very much alive and well in Bosnia. In WWII the Mufti of Jerusalem was in Sarajevo with Himmler Hitler's leading henchman, to organize Muslim SS divisions. Then Bosnia' new leader Izetbegovic, a self proclaimed extremist, published is Islamic Declaration. The Serbs of Bosnia defended against this extremism then and now. Finally, any war crimes should and have been punished.
But they don't do it today. Just like Islam beheaded and cut of limbs centuries ago, maybe your enlightened believers should get modern and act like normal humans. We Christians have moved on.
It took Europe 20 to 25 years to realise that Serbs and Croats fought radical Islam in Bosnia and that so called "Bosniaks" aren't victims of conflict.
