It gives Anakin‘s fall to the dark side even more depth. He cared too much and didn‘t get anything in return. So as Darth Vader, he doesn‘t care at all anymore.

    • @amberanime
      @amberanime 4 ปีที่แล้ว +17

      Sorry but thats bullshit. Anakin got a lot in his life, he just never apriciates it and wants more. Also the fact he didn't even try to understand Ashoka's reaction from her perspective or her side of things and instead went into a victem mind set proves his fall to the dark side was his own doing. Ashoka has her reasons, and he should have tried to empethise with that before making it about himself again. I love Anakin, he is relatable. Which is why people need to stop making excuses for Anakin because thats pretty much the same as making excuses for ourselves. We need to be better as people, and we don't do that by blaming everyone around us for our own shortcommings. We don't do that but always focusing on our own side of things only instead of trying to ask ourselves, before getting hurt and taking shit personaly, WHY the person is acting how they are acting. More often then not it's not even about you. Anakin rarely if ever does that. In real life most people don't do that either. We are quick to feel insulted, quick to fight for our own rights, quick to judge and quick to blame others for our own mistakes and we are not comfortable reflecting on ourselves. Exceptions are there, but for most of humanity this is a problem, myself included. Anakin is a great and importand mirror and lesson to us. As long as we keep making excuses for Anakin, and blame his horrible choice on stuff that happend outside of him, instead of having Anakin own up to his fall 100% himself because of his own responsibility for what happend inside of him, people won't learn and miss the whole point of a character like Anakin. Honestly people, stop victemising Anakin, stop blaiming the jedi, Obi wan, Ashoka, Padme and everything and everyone around the guy. Anakin's mind set is why he fell. The events around him simply fed that mindset. But make no mistake that the core problem was the mindset in itself. not the things that fed it.

It's not that the Jedi are forbidden from having friends or feeling emotions or having sex, but they're taught not to grow attached to anyone in particular over everyone else. Because when you grow attached to a few selected people, you risk allowing your emotions to cloud your judgment and prevent you from seeing the bigger picture, such as acknowledging the needs of the larger community. The Jedi way seeks to prevent your selfish favoritism for a few selected people from dooming the rest of the galaxy. The Jedi are supposed to be the most altruistic people possible, always putting the needs of everyone else over their own desires. Remember, this is literally days before Revenge of the Sith and Anakin finally flips. It wouldn't make sense for Anakin to be so doom and gloom in Episode 3 if he had a happy and uplifting reunion with an old friend just a couple days before.
    Ashoka is trying not to get attached to Anakin again because she still wants to leave the Order, and she's worried that if they rekindle their old student-master friendship, she'll find it hard to leave again and might even consider rejoining the Order for Anakin's sake.

    This scene has so much to it for something so short! It totally mirrors the movie and Ahsoka's introduction. For all Anakin's protesting that he didn't want or need a padawan, this shows how much he truly cared for 'Snips'; he's overjoyed to see her again, like a big puppy dog, but Ahsoka's not a little girl anymore. She's grown up and now wants to prove that she's not just Anakin's padawan, but her own person.
    This, no doubt, is the brutal truth of why the Jedi thought it necessary for Anakin to have a padawan, he needed to learn to let go. Unfortunately, this couldn't have happened at a worse time, this wound is still going to sting when he sees visions of Padme's death - he couldn't bear to lose another person that he cared about.

    Or even, a sad smile and gentle dismissal, saying something like, "Hey Skyguy .... Obi-wan..." and getting right to the point. Or something.

    Wow. Something I’ve always disliked about writers is they know exactly what it is that the fans want, in this case being the joyful & happy reunion between two characters who love & see one another as siblings, two characters who we’ve grown so attached to over the years and the simple prospect of even a hand on a shoulder or dare I say a hug makes us brim with excitement & Joy...and they will go so far as to present a scene that has the opportunity for those two characters to show how much they’ve missed each other & reunite in a natural & emotional way, but instead of simply giving us that, they give us the cliche generic soap opera moment that every other show has where one character suddenly decides to give the cold shoulder to the other & pretend they dont care or that they have bigger things to worry about. It puts a sour taste in my mouth and makes me want to watch something else. Its such a frustrating feeling, it’s like if you’re having sex and there’s no climax, no satisfaction. I can see why they’re doing it, to make the tragedy of Anakin’s life THAT much more tragic... but come on, really guys?! Can Ani get at least a genuine smile from his Snips?? This scene is such a below-the-belt blow, and all I could do was shake my damn head. Ick.

    • @tTaseric
      @tTaseric 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      No.
      Ahsoka's character arc is her becoming more like a true Jedi. There's an entire world in danger, she doesn't have time to put her own feelings in front of innocent lives. Bo Katan said it herself, the more time she wastes is more time Maul grows stronger. It seems that everyone forgets that they're Jedi, they simply don't have natural and emotional relationships.
      But from what you've said it's clear that you didn't actually watch the episode. Ahsoka and Anakin did show that relationship, but that was after Ahsoka had done what she could to help Mandalore at that moment. Ahsoka still cares about Anakin, but she's evolved as a character to see that it doesn't matter what she cares about, there's lives in danger.
      Ahsoka didn't know about Order 66, she thought she would be able to talk to him again. She tries multiple times to contact him throughout the episodes with no success.

    • @WhaleofDreams
      @WhaleofDreams 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Taseric yes. I did watch the episode. Been watching the Clone Wars ever since it first aired when I was eleven years old. Get off that high Jedi horse and while you’re at it get Ashoka off there too, you can’t tell me it wouldn’t fit her character to give her big Jedi bro a hug before he runs off to coruscant, or at least a hand on the ol shoulder there. I get that she’s got this flag of Jedi righteousness draped over her and she’s gotta get shit done but I wanted a real moment between them, not the ‘good luck’ with a half smile we got later on. It would have been cool to have her hug Anakin instead of saying good luck or some sorta ‘Seeya round’ BS, because that would have wrenched the hearts of us fans, knowing that Anakin/Vader would think back on the last time he saw Ashoka’s face & heard her voice, and he’d remember when she wrapped her snippy lil arms around him. I’m just saying it woulda been ten times more impactful than what we got. Just my take on it.

    • @ScantaniouslyCombust
      @ScantaniouslyCombust 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I think you're missing the point. We fully understand more than even why Anakin fell to the dark side. He can't detach himself from his emotions, and he is losing everything he cares about. First his mother, now his old apprentice (whom he loves like a sister) appears to not want to have anything to do with him (although that's not true, she is putting up a front), and soon the fear of losing Padme in child birth will be his last straw. The writing is excellent and executed extremely well. It's better than the prequels could offer in terms of how the audience can relate to Anakin's pain. I FEEL this scene like a sledge hammer. It's so sad, but so wonderful how the writers managed to do it.

    You know what they say.. "Never leave your loved ones on a bad note.." We never know if there will be another time. And that's the naive part of us: the part that we don't understand. And I truly believe Anakin understood that. From moments of not letting his mom go. He knew she would die eventually. And all he needed was time to listen. If the Jedi took their time to understand him... If Ahsoka took her time to hang out with him... If Obi-Wan took his time to stay a little longer with him... Anakin would never have turned to the dark side. He wouldn't be in a suit that causes constant pain. All because everyone was so excluding of him besides Ahsoka, Obi-Wan, Padme and his droids. Everyone put so much pressure on him. Even Ahsoka here puts pressure by shutting him down. I get that she may not be okay with the Order. But that wasn't Anakin's fault. Its just heartbreaking to see the reason they fight was because of her shutting him down. I bet she regretted shutting him down and leaving him. And she even says "I won't leave you. Not this time" it shows her fierce loyalty to him. While she needed the space, I think what she meant was that she wasn't gonna treat him so harshly... Too bad he didn't accept. And told her "Then you will die..."
