I just got the mini plus because the net play intrigued me. I’ve had the Rg35xx for about a year. But my favorite pickup and play device has been the rg280v. It’s so durable. If it had the sleep function and auto save of garlic, the 280v would be perfect in my eyes.

Normally I'd say I don't care about pockit-ability as I also carry my backpack or use a game case anyway, but with that being said I'd like a console I can carry around in my pocket and just play. I ordered one for me today, it's not what I wanted but where I live we pay almost 100% taxes over imports, so I had to 'buy two' just to get one. I hope to enjoy it.
So which is better out of the miyoo mini and the analogue pocket? Both videos seem too good to be true! Im looking for a console that i can play amiga and nes games on. Any recommendations would be appreciated.
Very different devices! The Pocket is mainly for playing original cartridges however you can play NES and other systems on it using the OpenFPGA. The screen and build quality are better but it comes at a price. The Miyoo Mini is much smaller and cheaper but can emulate basically everything up to tge PS1!
Great video, I want to extract the roms from the supplied SD card but I can't find where they are stored? Emulators states in /roms but when loaded in PC I can't see them but they are somewhere as I can play them on the original card.
Thanks! Im not super familiar with the folder structure of the included sd card but i would also assume they would be in a roms folder. It’s possible they are hidden files. Not sure!
As always, your video production is great, it's so pleasant to saw what you do. I kind to like the Tiny form factor of the Miyoo Mini, but I prefer have a device that just a tiny more huge for my Handheld, like the Anbernic RG35XX your present on a video 2 mouth ago, or a Analogu Pocket with the Open FPGA Stuff. I like play on the go, and I think one day I'm going to buy one of those, that's why I like your video, you (and other) make me thinking about how to play my game ! I'm also curious to saw your Gaming setup, how your play video game, that kind of stuff than I like to saw.
Thanks for the kind words! I agree that the slightly larger handhelds are great, like the RG35XX. Would you be interested in seeing my retro gaming setup or a game room tour type of thing? Thanks again!
Matt, your videos are of a caliber suited to a channel a hundred times as large. I can't believe you're only on your fifth video. One of the advantages of that, at least, is the fact that you'll actually see my comment. I love what you do. I love your production style, it's truly a pleasure. One thing I wish you'd do? Unobtrusive corner captions for each game on display, some other channel does that and I really appreciate the ability to pick up and play whatever I'm seeing. Bonus points for soundtrack credits, because your tracks are lovingly curated and I want to know what they are. Just curious, since you're clearly a fan of both: in the final analysis, how does the Mini compare to the Pocket for you? Which do you find yourself using more often?
Lots of great feedback here! First off, thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video! Next thing, game titles. This was going to be the first video where I included them on each clip that showcased gameplay. I chickened out in the end thinking that they might take attention away from games that were only on screen for like five seconds. Next video though, I will make sure to include them! Next, I did credit the channel that allowed me to use their music, you can find details in the description if you’d like to check it out! I can probably go through each video and add track title and artist names to the descriptions. The last question is tough. If I owned neither, I would definitely buy a Pocket first, hands down. The screen quality and ability to play cartridges is really important to me. That being said, I take good care of my Pocket and don’t really bring it anywhere lol. The Mini is the ultimate portable, I mean, you can actually fit it in your pocket lol. Not sure if that answers your question. The Miyoo Mini might get more use because it leaves the house lol.
@@matt_HM That answers my question brilliantly, thank you! I was fortunate enough to nab one of the glow-in-the-dark Pockets, and I can't imagine it leaving the house very often at all, ahahah.
@@matt_HM dude the quality of your videos is amazing. I do handheld reviews on the retro handhelds channel and I wish my stuff was at this level! Thanks for the motivation 😂 and I'm Looking forward to your next video.

is there a case to be made that the Miyoo Mini is actually more confortable to play than the Miyoo Mini Plus? (for GB, GBC, GBA, SNES) ? Obviously not for long 1-2 hours sessions, but for let's say 20-40 minutes sessions. I have slightly bigger hands than average. But i guess there is a way to hold it that can feel pretty confortable, especially if you play games that don't require the triggers?
I’d say that if you have bigger hands than the Mini Plus is probably the way to go. It’s really hard to make a determination until it’s in your hands. The Mini Plus is easy to buy on Amazon and if you don’t like it, Amazon makes it easy to return!
I was about to get that Mini Plus but then i remembered i already have a heavily modded N3DSXL and PS Vita. I've actually been playing PS1 on my N3DSXL. Killzone on the Vita. The best part about those is that once modded most games will run natively which is a big plus for me. Despite being able to play some PS2 games on the Vita i'm still patiently waiting for a budget handheld that will be able to run all PS2 games near perfection. Retroid Pocket 4 perhaps? :o
@@matt_HM I just bought the Mini Plus V3 ahahah. Saw a nice deal on Temu. 48€ w/ 64GB card, USB adapter and case! Will use mostly for GB and GBA probably because of the form factor! Ended up also grabbing the 8bitdo Lite 2 for 23,50€. All with the 50% off they offer. Can't wait for them to arrive! :D
various-booth.booth.pm I actually ordered them from Japan from this guy. It's a bit of a hassle ordering from here and the shipping cost sucks, so I just bought a lot at once. The quality is pretty incredible though.
would like to try one of the custom OSs but have some reservations about installing the software required on to my computer. I think it was batocera that asks for user’s password… that’s where it ended for me
For flashing or formatting the SD Card? I've been using Balena Etcher but there might be other programs that can do the same thing. Definitely don't install anything you aren't comfortable with!
@@matt_HMyes, balena etcher that’s the one! ty if it supported something like windows vista on my old netbook that i could sideload from a usb drive, then I would’ve not thought twice about it 😆 until that’s an option my devices remain with the stock os
Tell me you watch GxAce without telling me you watch GxAce. Jokes aside, great video! I consider buying the plus version because I think even for my tiny hands the normal mini might be a little bit too small. I'm really amazed with how far these kinds of emulation machines have come in recent years.
Nah man. It rattles like a dollar store toy, breaks like it is made of tooth picks, and is hand crampingly small to the point of unusable for anyone without baby hands. with a tpu or silicone cover the rg35xx is as pocketable if not more so because i dont fear i will snap it in half or smash it against something. Not to mention the fact that it is a dead console that is no where near with the after market price and will be unreplaceable when the thing does crap out on you. By the time i would put in in a case i was stratified would protect it, it is just as big if not bigger than the rg35xx with a cover. It really does not serve the market at all to wave around a dead product like this and try to make people feel like they missed out on something that no where near lives up to the expectations you are putting out there.
I’ve never had issues with the build quality. And they have been doing drops all this week on Ali express. I do love the RG35XX tho! Thanks for watching!!
one more question: where are people buying their Miyoo Mini nowadays (at an affordable price)? (or when will it be manufactured again?) the link you have is out of stock
The AliExpress site is the only place I’ve used to buy the Mini without a markup on the price. They do drops every now and then when they have stock. There’s a twitter account called Miyoo Mini Alerts (something like that) that will give you a heads up on when a new drop is coming!

Enjoy the input lag, worse screen and no display modes
@@bocadog3 run ahead removes the input lag and it has way more display modes. I do wish the screen was better.
@@bocadog3 thanks for watching!!
Some people demand perfection. Some of us just want to have fun 😀
What a beautiful video!!
Where did you get your transparent blue buttons from? please tell they are so nice.
Should be a link to the site in the video description!
The miyoo mini is the only device I manage to go LVL 19 in Tetris.
@@matt_HM I thinking about a Game Room Tour, but saw Your Retro Gaming Setup can also be great to saw.
I love your video 😍 Please tell me what game is that 0:24 ?
It would be great to see the entire list of games from the video in description 😅
At that time its either Strider for the PS1 or Chrono Trigger for Snes!
Me too! Hoping to do a video on it!
Fantastic video! Im definitely checking out the rest of your stuff.
Thanks! Just trying to get better with each video!
@@matt_HM dude the quality of your videos is amazing.
I do handheld reviews on the retro handhelds channel and I wish my stuff was at this level! Thanks for the motivation 😂 and I'm Looking forward to your next video.
Thanks! That really means a lot to me! I recently discovered the discord and it has been an amazing resource. I’ve checked out a few live streams too! Keep up the awesome work!
WHY do you barely have any videos. You've got such a chill, lofi vibe. Bro make more.
Haha thanks dude! That is the plan! Had to put the channel on hold for a bit while I packed and moved to a new place. Still getting set up!
@@matt_HM I’m here for it!
what version is the one in the video? I cannot find that design with the transparent (green?) buttons etc
The blue one has custom buttons installed. There should be a link to the seller's website in the description!
Here for the video production value. ❤
Bro the audio work on this video is crazy, you got to teach us this secret sauce! sub off the first 10 secs lol
Thanks dude! Shoutout to @fantasylofi for the three main songs!
Have to finish the quote, jack of all trades master of none.
is there a case to be made that the Miyoo Mini is actually more confortable to play than the Miyoo Mini Plus?
Yeah who knows when ps2 emulation will comfortably hit the budget category! I haven’t dabbled with PS2 emulation yet but am hoping to real soon.
I have The Switch OLED, PS VITA Modded and I bought today the AMBERNIC and the next one is the Myioo Mini - tou got to love them all.🍻
@Gamehighlight2023 all amazing!
The real masterpiece here was that video! BAZINGA that was good
Thanks!!
I'll second that. Fook me, your video is oozing quality.
Really tho this reminds me of one of those sleek new smartphone commercials 😅@@matt_HM
this video is almost as much of a masterpiece as the miyoo mini! also I subbed. also this is like 1m sub level content
1m! That’s the dream!! Thanks dude
Hi, do you know please why GBA games doesn't work after following instructions to update to latest Onion OS? Thanks
Hmmm, unfortunately I don't know the answer to that, but I'd recommend checking reddit to see if anyone does know!
Hi Matt, thank you for your reply. So you didn't have any issue with GBA database following instalation link in bio? Thanks
Dude cant find the link or any indication for the bluehis transparent miyoo mini plus with blue buttons. Give me that pls ! Awesome work, keep it up.
Oh you're right! Apologies!
various-booth.booth.pm/items
Would love to know where you got the button from on your Blue mini
various-booth.booth.pm
I actually ordered them from Japan from this guy. It's a bit of a hassle ordering from here and the shipping cost sucks, so I just bought a lot at once. The quality is pretty incredible though.
wait what are the fighting games that you praise so much around 6:05?
SNK vs. Capcom: The Match of the Millennium
i just got a 3ds and homebrewed it and it blows this out of the water as i can play 3ds games and everything this does.
I’ve never done a jailbreak on a 3ds or vita but have been considering it!
It’s a bit unfair to compare a jailbroken 3DS to a budget mini handheld.
Beautiful video, thanks.
Schmurtz, Onion Team 😉
No, thank you!!! 🙏
please make a video of how you build and decide your game library for emulation device!!
I know I’m slow on the uptake but I thought they stopped making these. Are they being produced still?
They’ve been dropping new ones on AliExpress every week for a few weeks now!
Another BEAUTIFULLY SHOT video, Matt.
See me in KOF R-2.
I love my myoo mini, but I find myself using my phone and a clip on controller more these days for sheer multifunction usage
Whatever works for you! No wrong way to play!
would like to try one of the custom OSs but have some reservations about installing the software required on to my computer. I think it was batocera that asks for user’s password… that’s where it ended for me
For flashing or formatting the SD Card? I've been using Balena Etcher but there might be other programs that can do the same thing. Definitely don't install anything you aren't comfortable with!
@@matt_HMyes, balena etcher that’s the one! ty
if it supported something like windows vista on my old netbook that i could sideload from a usb drive, then I would’ve not thought twice about it 😆 until that’s an option my devices remain with the stock os
Tell me you watch GxAce without telling me you watch GxAce. Jokes aside, great video! I consider buying the plus version because I think even for my tiny hands the normal mini might be a little bit too small. I'm really amazed with how far these kinds of emulation machines have come in recent years.
Hes the best 😉!
MIyoo mini is great as a one-hander for me. I love GBA games and this is just an awesome platform for it.
Wow these videos are top tier 👍
Many thanks!
The miyoo mini made me click, your production made me stay.
Thanks!! I appreciate it!
I'm quite interested in such a device, however, the shoulder button configuration just seems like a deal breaker for me.
Check out the Mini plus or RG35xx! Much better shoulder buttons!
one more question: where are people buying their Miyoo Mini nowadays (at an affordable price)? (or when will it be manufactured again?) the link you have is out of stock
The AliExpress site is the only place I’ve used to buy the Mini without a markup on the price. They do drops every now and then when they have stock. There’s a twitter account called Miyoo Mini Alerts (something like that) that will give you a heads up on when a new drop is coming!
@@matt_HM thanks good to know
Actually Miyoo Mini (Plus and v2/v4) support now NDS emulation, what a time to be alive for a 65$ handheld (Aliexpress)
It's great!
Wonderful video once again. The volume seems a bit too soft though. Might wanna make it a bit louder than usual.
Thanks! Everything overall or just the music?
@@matt_HM Everything overall. Still a fantastic video though!
Great video! I was wondering where you got the clear buttons for the blue mini? Thanks!
There should be a link in the description of the video!
I had one, too small. I have a rg35xx, seems big. Maybe the miyoo mini plus is better for me
Another amazing video Matt! Keep it up! And yes, I love my Miyoo mini as well.
Thanks a bunch!
I've got 2 coming in in a few says and I haven't been so excited for something since my steam deck
Hope you enjoy them!
I love my steam deck but my little myoo mini fits in my pocket and it's battery is great
