So it was this gum called jelly bean bubble gum it used to come in a clear bag then they started putting it in the cartons around Easter I would love to see that
I love this channel regardless of how old it makes me feel lol. I kept singing the rest of the big red song and realized holy crap I remember all the jingles too 😳
Awesome video, thumbs up! I still have most nostalgia for chocolate mint, but totally forgot about super bubble grape & apple until just now watching this video & thinking about how big of a deal gum was in the 80s, wow. Great vid Tig, Fav'd!
I know that this videos old, but I remember that I had Big League gum as a kid and it was fun to blow bubbles and nice part about Big League Gum is that it still exist today in stores.
I loved the bonkers commercials. I do remember the tube gum but vaguely. I wanna say it never turned into gum but was just liquidy the whole time Edit i mentally sang every song with you buddy. Good times man
Brought back memories. Nobody seems to remember bubble eez bubble gum or the song from the commercial which is still burned into my head. Strawberry bubble tape always had some long lasting flavor and smelled good.
I'm so old I only get gum if I'm flying on a plane to keep my ears popped. But man, back in the day there was nothing better than a brand new pouch of grape Big League Chew. I can smell it just typing that... :p
This one was awesome! I loved gum growing up. used to love the multi flavored bubble yum. we would have bubble contests. i could never do it very well, but sometimes you would get lucky.
As soon as you said beeper gum I just about fell out of my chair from flashbacks. A memory far to hidden for far to long..... I needed that badly. You just got a new subscriber just for that. You are a legend. Thanks for the nostalgia trip. I needed that more than I thought.
Absolutely! I agree. I was always a Hubba Bubba bubble gum kid. The longer the flavour, the better it was and Juicy Fruit was another favourite of mine.
Currently, I swear by the Wrigley's Extra bubblegum flavour sugar free chewing gum. Sounds weird but it's chewing gum, that tastes like bubble gum. It's lush, and good for your teeth. I chew it after meals.
Damn this brought me back. fruit strip was my favorite at toys r us no matter how stale it was. But blockbuster had Those crazy hubba bubba flavors that would make ur shit green for a week lol.
A few days ago I was in a 99 Cent Store and saw Big League Chew for sale! I couldn't believe they still made that stuff. The artwork is changed though... to try and downplay/erase their "chew" origins. BTW I don't know if "cigarette gum" still exists, but a few companies are still making candy cigarettes. I bought a few about a year ago (just to put on my collection shelf.)
I was all about bubble size over flavor. I loved Hubba Bubba, Super Bubble, and Dubble Bubble. My goal is to bring it all back in the next few years. Sometimes, I drive Uber and have bubble blowing contests with my passengers and they love it!
My favorite gums as a kid were this giant candy balls with a gum in it. I can't remember the name. And as the candy was translucent, you could almost see the gum. The part I liked the most is when I almost reached the gum, as I started to chew I had little bit and pieces of candy in my chewing gum. Loved it.
I strongly associate Fruit Stripe gum with Tiny Toon Adventures on NES, because the first time I got to try it, was the same day I got to rent that game.
The UK had the same craze back in the 90's too. I used to love those ones that were rolled up like a tape measure. I used to get this pink one that was sour and lasted ages! Can't remember the name. They probably had to change them because of the artificial flavours and colours giving kids adhd lol!
I liked them all as long as they weren't sugar free. I remember thinking Trident was just a dentist's trick. I think was partial to Bubbalicious over BubbleYum as far as brands. And I also loved Juicy Fruit, partly because I rarely got it. But when I did, I'd chew the whole pack at once, adding a stick every 30 seconds or so as the previous one lost its flavor.
I also forgot how produced the ads were. For gum! Crazy! But those jingles all came right back. Still have the Big Red one going in my head right now. Thanks for that🤨
Growing up in the 80’s and 90’s, Bubblicious was generally my favorite gum. Their Paradise Punch and Watermelon Wave I probably liked the most. But I also had pretty much all of the others at some point to. Bubble Yum’s Banannaberry Split I definitely remember liking. Gatorgum I oddly liked too. I think because back then, Gatorade was a drink that athletes and adults drank, and I never really did. So I strangely lived vicariously chewing Gatorgum. Although I rarely chew gum today, and I’m very into my health, gum was just fun back then. I also liked those classic kinds like Beeman’s, Clove, and Black Jack. Beeman’s tasted like Pepto-Bismol, which I oddly loved. You can still find those 3 classics in some retro places. I think now made by different companies for nostalgic sales to people like me. I also liked Beeman’s because I’ve always been into aviation, and it was a good luck charm for pilots. Probably because it’s an older brand that was around during early aviation days, and chewing gum helped if your ears were popping as you ascended or descended. It even makes a few appearances in the movie The Rocketeer. Which is still one of my favorite movies.
Great video. Chewels sugarless bubblegum blew the biggest and best bubbles. Especially with a pack or 2 in your mouth… beachball size bubbles and got the “squirt in the middle”
Huge flash back with this one. I def used to have gum packs all over my room. Big league chew was a favorite. but for bubble blowing it had to be bubbalicious.
Loved singing along with you and the old gum commercials! So much fun!! Love this video! I love my gum with a side of risqué! Haha Also my big 3 were Bubbalicious, BY & HB ❤
Oh man tube gum! I forgot about it until you said it and I can remember what it was like even! It was fun because it was different but the texture was weird you had to chew it quick to harden it up because it was like a paste texture, if I am in fact remembering correctly. I loved gum and still do. I found they sell cotton candy bubble yum at target, which is what I chewed as a teenager! Still so yummy. Anyone remember the dark pink extra? From the 90s? It was not the light pink bubble gum flavor, it was more berry ish and waaayyy better. Nobody remembers this.
I might be crazy. but I'm pretty sure we still have hubba bubba and bubblicious here, I'll have to recheck next time I'm at the cashier. Never see anyone buying them though.
Man big league chew! I used to get a pack of that at my t-ball games I used to play and chewing it always made me feel like a real Major League Baseball player. Damn I miss those days..
The sour flavors were fantastic. I enjoyed the bubblelicous and chicklets. But then I became loyal to Winterfresh. Now it is Orbit. Juicy Fruit was garbage. It dissolves in your mouth after sometime. Lol
I remember going on summer vacation with my family when I was around ten years old and stopping at this one big convenience store (can't remember the name of it) and I would get some gum after reading the label that says "Now with 2x the flavor!", anyway my dad and I would give it a try and it usually was just ok. My grandpa was the one who taught my brother and I how to blow bubbles with Bubblegum (drove my mom bonkers, lol).
Paradise Punch Bubblicious, Mmmm. I miss Chocolate Bubble Yum the most. Actually was out about mid 2000's. I also liked Bazooka Blasts. Gritty sugary gum. Now most bubble gum (Bubba Bubba, Bubble Tape, Big League Chew) has the sugar free stuff in it. The taste gets nasty after the sugar runs out, way too sweet. Bubble Yum and Bubblicious are still just sugar. But all of those great flavors are gone. Hardly can find different flavors as well. I now chew Ice Breakers and Hubby Bubba. They seem to be the softer than Bubblicious and Bubble Yum. For big bubbles nothing beats Super Bubble. A good amount of pieces and a lot of chewing gets you some big bubbles, and a sore jaw later.
I miss the soda gums with the gel on the inside. Gum flavors today doesn’t last as long as they used to and I blame it on that cancer scare back in the day. I used to love how long bubble yum lasted but it had a warning on the side that it contained a chemical that caused cancer in lab rats. After that warning disappeared, so did the long lasting flavor. I mean sure I got mouth sores if I chewed the gum too long but now I just chew for five seconds, spit out the rubber band and grab another piece of...OH I SEE WHAT THE PLAN IS!!! SELL MORE GUM BY FORCING US TO HAVE TO BUY MULTIPLE PACKS!!!
I'm in the "Nerd Lair" because of the whole pandemic thing. (Hopefully I will be back in Eric's Attic sometime soon! We are both dying to get back up there!)
Peach and banana. I can’t remember the brand. In high school, my friend bought cherry cola and our very pregnant science teacher made her spit it out. It was so delicious but it made your breath smell like vomit. I can’t blame her. I miss all the gum flavors. I loved green mint and blueberry too
Ok, you quite possibly could be the only person that may know this. I’ve been trying to find this commercial for 20 years. I don’t remember which but it was bubble yum or hubba bubba. Pretty sure it wasnt freshen up. The commercial was a kid who was thirsty or something. He got this gum and chewing it was like a tidal wave of juicy fruity goodness. As he chewed a islander type guy screamed “ziggy bamwaaa” and then a tidal wave of flavor washed over him. Juicy satisfaction. Do you remember that or does it sound familiar??? Its stuck in my memory, that ziggy bamwaa, its like Superstone from the Flintstones, Bey hi hee ho ho.

Hope my kid bro does not see this - but when he was a runt he took over one of my parents large ash trays and turned into a pallette of ABC gum. There was would be a flavor for each day of the week. Why start over with a fresh piece when you could work an ABC selection indefinately. Haha. Since I played baseball my go to was big league chew. As an adult, my choice gum is from Japan. Its called Black Black and reportedly will freshen breathe, give a caffeine boost and whiten teeth. It might also destroy your kidneys but hey, we all gotta go of something right? Haven't had it for years, yet immediately thought of the grape Bubblicious smell. Was always a favorite, but I was a fan of trying everything.
HA! As soon as I read "grape Bubblicious" I immediately could smell it. That's weird.
@@NerdOutWithMe Right? Didn't expect that smell to permanently imprint on my brain.
Gum commercials were one of my favorite things about the 80s and 90s ! Juicy Fruit goes hard in its jingle .
Five bucks you are at least singing one gum tune today.
Another great video!! The theme songs took me back instantly...i was singing along!! 👍👍
Singing along while you do some sweet models.
Hahaha “flavor crystals “ had me dying
I remember when flavor crystals were even in like pancakes or something?
They were some sort of witch craft!
