Really enjoyed your presentation. To my delight, I’ve discovered that Lee Valley Tools (in Toronto and certainly elsewhere) sells the Pony Jorgensen hardware required for this build. And I prefer the setup for the reasons you made clear.
I love those little Pony Jorgensen veneer press screws. I have used them in a bunch of stuff in the past couple years. I've tortured mine pretty badly too. They are way more durable than I was expecting. Good stuff and a good buy.
Another nice feature of the veneer press is that it has an Acme thread. I've seen DIY Moxon vises that used All Thread rods that don't work as well as the Acme.
I have the Moxon kit as well, still unbuilt! I love the idea here, but-being stubborn and poor, I’m still gonna build my Moxon vise. Perhaps after breaking a few ribs on the protruding rods, I’ll sheepishly order these veneer press dealies and start over.
Hi, just seen this video. you say you drilled an 11/16th hole in the front jaws for the threaded part to pass through. As the rod is 11/16th diameter doesn't this give you severe racking problems as the rod will be fixed perpendicular to the rear jaws. Apart from that, it's a really good idea. The other problem is that the Pony Jorgensen parts have been discontinued (at least they are not available any more in the UK).
I SAW WHERE THIS LADY DRILLED TWO HOLES SIDE BY SIDE...LIKE A FIGURE EIGHT CHISELED THE SMALL TIT THAT WAS LEFT THERE IT BECAME AN OVAL ...AND THAT GAVE THE ADJUSTMENT FOR ANGLED PIECES (BOARDS)....ONLY ON THE FRONT PIECE.........th-cam.com/video/2QbDh76mzCg/w-d-xo.html
God I miss the Rainforest Cafe. They used to have one in San Francisco. Also I think this is the first time we have seen your face. I like the designs you keep coming up with. Please order some more handleless chisel sets . I want to build a few for friends and family. Thanks
Great Idea! I have a moxon vice kit and was thinking that would stink out and could be very painful as well as not opening wide. I already had one to the Fox Shop veneer press screw and so just ordered another. Anybody want a good deal on two Moxon kits un-used???

Excellent Moxon Vice Alternative. - Thank you

This is a great idea, Mike. I think I am going to borrow it for my Bench bull jaws too.

Based on this video, I went and bought the aforementioned screws. Thanks!
Have the kit and wood to build the moxon vice you are replacing. This is so much better I ordered the parts before I finished the video

Why not flip the threaded coupling around and just surface mount it with two screws through the tabs? 🤔
That is sheer genius! Building mine this week, probably save me an hour of aggrevation. Great tip

They don't ship internationally such a shame for us foreigners, especially Downunder in Australia. Great idea.

Thank you for the vid, Mike! Just out of curiosity, what kind of wood did you use?
Very helpful. Thank you.
Thank you Sir 🎉
I am not finding this on the web site.
Awesome, thank you!
Nice! What wood do you like for the jaws?
You could use anything, even laminated pieces of plywood.
Thank You
Nice!
Well now I'm angry that I made my last one with the old screws. lol
It would have been nice if he had shown it installed.
We'll take a picture and put it on Instagram 🙂

IMHO: THIS DESIGN HAS TOO MANY "NEGATIVES"!!!
