- Travellers who turned up for day three of the test run for the Takoradi-Tarkwa passenger coaches by the Ghana Railway Company have threatened to boycott the service if the rail line and the quality of the train are not improved.

experts say a train sways when the tracks are not maintained regularly. The tracks need to be aligned at all times. As soon as i read the article i said to myself, now i see the problem since ghanaian governments do not understand the meaning of the word maintenance.

This is the crux of the matter. Our real problem in this country is putting square pegs in round holes and disregard for rules. What the engineer was talking about test-run seemed to me more of a suicide mission than a test-run. Why didn't the journalist asked if they're using humans as Guinea pigs. Why rush? If one had a 1977 Mercedes car another has 1919 model, you wouldn't expect both to behave the same way, even though both are from the manufacturer. We needed to have people with vision on top to see us through. After all doing things modern are very expensive but once properly done and with good management, you'll regain your investment fast and furious than patching things here and there with chewing gun.
Railroad sector is more than just this one Takoradi-Tarkwa line. Their plan is get lines like this one up and running while in the meantime revenue/capital is accumulated to install "modern" lines in locations that don't have the infrastructure. This is a nation wide plan and not about just making one beautiful rail line to satisfy champagne taste.
Why the rush?
Don't expect much and you will not be disappointed.
OMG. The patronage is one thing and management is another. The same old pathetic mentality of people in charge of affairs.
Patronage was high because of the hype and because it was free. Management attitude is still shitty as we are accustomed to.
Train's schedule was whack cleanliness was a problem and train was faulty. Why will they fill a faulty train passengers for such a lon ride. Why couldn't they test ride with some of the technical staff to mitigate any potential calamity?
The railway authority should hire competent people who know how to manage efficient transportation system. This was a TERRIBLE experience. Joe Ghartey must be on top of this ASAP.
They should use the old coaches to convey goods and resources and buy new coaches for passengers

Those with their first experience riding on train should know it doesn't run smooth as buses as they may expect. Train runs with the coaches going side by side, they should ride on it continuous to become perfect.
We need practical education especially engineering fields already I recommended that the railway minister should send their civil and maintenance engineers to Russia to study proper maintenance and also derailment prevention over 30yra Russia has not experience accident on the railway system so our engineers can learn.

@Robert Wussah hmm Ghana has real engineers but majority are out of the country cux they wont get the job n salary they deserve in there.
This is a real shame. They had a chance to create a world class train service and resorted to shortcuts, this is why obroni and foreigners get the contracts knowing they will deliver. Is shameful and embarrassing to watch this in 2020. No structure in place, the stations will turn into mini markets, no train timings, customer guards etc. Is literally a joke. The world have gone way ahead why don’t you copy them or even hire outside to be head of railways
I'm watching from UK ..after working on the railways industry for 20yrs ..l urge the Ghana government to invest on the Ghana railways for the people ..and global tourism. Bringing money in for Ghana

Your complaining wouldn't get the country anywhere. At least appreciate something little so that the best will reach your end. So tell them to stop their basely complains.
