Here is another fix for a dead HDD. Fixing the PCB of a dead hard drive is must if the drive completely dead or is not reading. If you like the video hit the thumb-up 👍 and subscribe for more content like this.

This is hard than i thought. I have three 1 and 2 tera HDD here and I'm trying to recover it. Then i saw this video and my mind says nah. I'm not technician lol. Thanks you for this!

The work is thorough and sheds a light on many things that I did not pay attention to.
In my case, mine was different (Seagate Momentus 320 Gb)
And I wanted to conduct the repair for files that I wanted, luckily I was able to restore some files although the majority of files were corrupted for some reason, but I got what I needed thankfully.
Thanks for the video, I'm sure it'll help a lot of people like myself.

how do you know which pins to probe? it seemed like you hit the short immediately when you began testing but you could've easily just chosen two nodes that are connected internally or something. maybe done to get a point across but can you specify what i should be probing on my unit

    Mine is Toshiba 1 TB
Worked fine till yesterday when suddenly a copying process was stuck midway which compelled me to disconnect it directly and from then on the device is not recognized by WIN PC.
Though the power LED is on while in use but it's static (not flikering.) and the disc inside is also rotating.

Hi I have a hardisk with the Rom (Bios burned - in the sense that PCB's rom is missing)
Reason I had buying a card to do the swapping but the repairman lost the original card)
Do you think it is possible to recover my Seagate Hardisk?
In short, the HD has never been opened and card that has does not have the original BIOS
I feel the engine turns but it doesn't see any data windows with new pcb donnor
    Thx Franco Italy

When I have a failing disk, the general advice is to replace it. I have several old drives now. Is it safe and is there a way to restore them to a good standard. I do not need the data, I am just wondering if it is risky to use them after reformatting. Or if there is a way to avoid/cut out the bad sectors?
Really I would like to keep them for old back ups. But if it isnt safe, then I cannot.

My client's hard drive is not being detected anywhere, I think there's something wrong with the drive, I've plugged it into my enclosure and it's a laptop hard drive. I tried it with a different hard drive in my same enclosure and it works no problem but every time I plug in this particular HDD (which is my clients HDD), this one will not detect it, it doesn't show up anywhere my PC, device manager, disk mgmt, etc, sometimes when it's plugged in all I hear is the pins spinning weirdly when I put my ear near it, is it really dead nonrecoverable? any suggestions?

The reality is that most people have no access to that capacitor or even be able to diagnose the problem themselves.. And opening a hard drive outside of a Medical grade Cleanroom exposes the platter to extremely destructive dust immediately. None of that is mentioned in this extremely misleading video.
