all of gregory’s music is literally like getting a huge hug that you really need
GAI is the one artist I always come back to when I need some moody music to play on a cloudy day driving through the forest or the mountains. For over 12 years I've loved his music, his artistry and his beautiful soul. Going to see him at Red Rocks in September-- the concert of my dreams!
Gregory Alan Isakov is my favorite artist. Took me several years of hearing a few of his songs on stations before I listened to him intentionally but for the past 4 years now I can’t stop listening to him. Can’t wait to see him again in a couple months
Same. I am obsessed with his music. Every song is a masterpiece.
Same. ❤
What’d you think of new album?
i love the new album and feels it pairs well with evening machines

Isakov is the greatest of our generation!
Been a fan of GAI for YEARS and it's a damn shame not a lot of reactions are out there on his music because I feel like a lot of people are just missing out.
Glad you loved this song! His entire catalogue is in my opinion just amazing.
PS. I am new to your channel and hearing you love TOOL is great! I saw them a few years ago and they sound just as good irl as in the studio.
Definitely vibe with you and your channel.
Just subscribed to your channel because Gregory Alan Isakov is one of my favorite artists, and you treated the listening process with such utter respect. I love the fact that you love folk music -- and that you don't enjoy small talk. You found a new fan here. Thank you, sir!
Sorry, but I need to add one more thing: You have the most wonderful voice. If you created a podcast that featured you reading the ingredient and prep info from soup cans, I'd subscribe! I think others would, too!
Same!
I absolutely love Gregory Allen's music... Listen to Master & the Hound, it will blow your socks off...!
Thank you for reacting to this!! this is one of my MOSt favorite songs and singers. This song is so...special. I get to see him this Fall and i'm so excited. Thanks again for your wonderful reactions!
Been listening to him for 14 years. Our local college station played one of his songs by chance one day and I was immediately hooked. Finally saw him live a couple weeks ago and what an experience.
Gregory Alan Isakov is one of my favorites and after I heard liars live it easily became my favorite song. Live it was a life changing experience 😂
This version of Liars is on my playlist constantly. I absolutely go to a different dimension when I listen to it! Just imagine seeing him at Red Rocks with the Colorado Symphony!!!! Folk/Americana is in my top two types of music (it goes straight to the heart and touches on very very deep and basic emotions), and I love that you are reacting to some of it!!! Thank you!
I didn't even know about this version. I've literally downloaded other live versions and listen to them but this live version is quite different/developed from the studio. This one is like normal Liars, live!
Сan you recommend someone who does the similar music to Gregory's?
@@dimitryivanov9778 I have to say, no one is quite like him, but you might try these: Passenger, Iron and Wine, Fleet Foxes, First Aid Kit, Hozier, The Milk Carton Kids, Talos, Noah Gunderson, The Decemberists. Have fun. You can always just look up Folk/Indie/Americana artists and explore!!!
@@leeswhimsy thanks, mate, i'll check them out
I love Gregory Alan Isakov you have to check out his most popular song the stable song, but all shades of blue and suitcase full of sparks are also amazing tracks
San Luis 🙌
Amsterdam and Chemicals.
I adore Master and a Hound and love every single thing he has done
Absolutely loved this, never heard of this person, amazing great reaction Polo,
The way you immediately felt this song’s vibe reminds me of when I stumbled across The Stable Song. I’ve been hooked ever since. I didn’t know I liked folk until I heard his music.
If you enjoyed this song, you HAVE TO listen and react to The Stable Song with the Colorado Symphony. It’s genuinely one of the most beautiful songs I’ve ever heard. It’s the one song that I listen to after a bad day that helps me relax. Listen and just enjoy it
Sensational reaction. So amazing to see someone completely new to Isakov’s music get him immediately. Thank you 🙏
THere is not a single bad song with Gregory Alan Isakov in it. Dude is an artist.
Gregory Isakov has been my favorite music artist for well over two years now and it brings me so much joy to watch you react to his artistry and enjoy it just as much as I ❤️ thank you
As I was listening I thought to myself that you would really like a song by Iron & Wine called "The Trapeze Swinger." I had forgotten until I read the comments, that Mr. Isakov did a cover of that song. So, if you're up to experiencing something great, I'd suggest that you do the original by Iron & Wine (just to give you another artist to explore), but if you decide to do the cover that's fine too. Take care...
Yes... He would love that song. Not many people know about them either
I love Gregory Alan Isakov so much. I have all of his available albums, and the man doesn't make a bad song. There are a few that aren't my style that I occasionally skip, but that's maybe 4 songs total? And it's not because they're bad songs, just not what I'm in the mood for at that moment. Lol!
His new album is great. Appaloosa Bones.
I love how Isakov is always building on lyrics.
Verse 1 excerpt
“I sold all these baseball cards, to buy me some clothes”
verse 2 excerpt
“I sold all these clothes, to buy me some land”
verse 3 excerpt
“I sold all this land, to buy me some dreams”
Listen to his sing called the Stable Song.
Come down, come down sweet reverence.
Within the folk genre is a band called Lord Huron, with about 30 songs across 4 studio albums and an EP that are fantastic. Here's a list of as many as I can think of off the top of my head (keep in mind, I'm pretty picky with my music; this is probably the artist that I think of when I think about artists who are consistent with their quality of work):
Setting Sun
Lonesome Dreams
The Ghost on the Shore
Brothers
Lullaby
Ends of the Earth
I Will Be Back One Day
She Lit a Fire
Time to Run
The Stranger
In the Wind
Frozen Pines
Meet Me in the Woods
The Yawning Grave
Way Out There
Ancient Names Part I and II
The Balancer's Eye
Never Ever
Emerald Star
The entire "Long Lost" album in order
Their most popular song is "The Night We Met," which I honestly wouldn't even put it in their top 25. These are all fantastic songs. Happy listening!
Totally agree. Meet me in the woods is one of my all time favorite songs.
I love the kind of dark moody soundscapes that a lot of their music has. It feels like every time I listen to one of their songs I have to immediately repeat it before going to the next one.
@@Appabunny The emotional imagery in their lyrics and the way they're blended in with the dynamics of the song is unbelievable. They actually almost made me quit writing music because I didn't see how I could ever be as good as them lol. Meet Me in the Woods is for sure one of my favorites, too!
This might not get the most views....but I am so happy to see someone appreciate moments like this.
Thank you.
POLO! Please sir, do yourself a huge favor with this- Gregory’s guitarist Danny plays in a three-piece group called Good Old War, and *in my opinion* their song “Not Quite Happiness” is a MUST for you, whether or not you do a reaction. The album it’s featured in is something needing to be put in the Smithsonian for future generations to recall in music history. 11/10. ❤ Thanks for reading.
Excellent!!! Amy has impeccable taste! I saw the Colorado Symphony Orchestra in the 80's in Denver. Black tie event. This video took me back to that experience.
I love that you react to songs that might not draw many views on YT, but are just songs you want to hear! Never heard of this artist, but now I have! It seems like you really have a taste for indie folk. A couple artists I’d recommend for you are Sufjan Stevens and Josh Garrels. Both have a lot of spiritual/Christian themes in their lyrics. Josh occasionally incorporates rap into his folk, which makes for an interesting blend (check out “The Resistance”).
100% second the Josh Garrels recommendation. The Resistance is amazing. That whole album is inceredible with Farther Along and Rise. Really love some of his newer stuff too like A Long Way and Born Again.
I'll never forget listening to him opening alone for Brandi Carlile on her tour in 2009. Great guy. Great music.
In concert, he sounds so good too.
When I'm gone I'm gone. I believe is another song of this artist and I love it.
If you like that one. One of my all time favorite GAI songs is Master and the Hound w/ colorado symphony orchestra, or the original album version. They’re both fantastic 👍🏻
Gregory is a MASTER at his craft. Been listening to him for YEARS. Been the backdrop of probably half the poems i wrote in my last 2 books
Listen to and enjoy the live video of Matt Berninger singing One More Second.
I discovered his music on Pandora and he’s been one of my favorites ever since. I highly recommend Salt & the Sea off his That Sea, The Gambler album. Great reaction to a great song. The buildup in this is great too. 👍
Love hearing you say Tool is a deep pool, but folk is always. And you roll the 4Runner. Sound like a great dude.
Beautiful ❤
I love this artist like I love Sleep Token or Imminence. I saw him in Philadelphia live a month ago and it was amazing.
❤ ❤❤
Can't go wrong with Gregory Alan Isakov (GAI)!
Folk is 👌 I agree with you. You can’t explain why but there’s just something about it
You should seriously check out My Love She’s in America by The Stillwater Hobos, a criminally underrated band that deserves exponentially more recognition than they get.
Just stumbled on this channel looking for GAI reactions and had to say, I am with you 100%. Tool is my favorite band but Folk is my favorite genre as well.
Now we're just Liars! Now we're just Liars! Now we're just Liars! Now we're just Liars! ... This song blew my mind.
Gregory Alan Isakov is the best, check out his new album Appaloosa Bones for more 🔥
••
Polo is doing an experiment I guess…he put this out a few months ago and gave it a different title
I was sitting here thinking he might have a crush on Amy cause this was 2 different times i remember him pumping her up about a recommendation
Then I heard him say “oh this isn’t a slow burn”
But no doubt about it GAI is fantastic
--same video under a different title 👇

one of my favorite songs
Great track, reminds me of Patrick watson's adventures in your own back yard, very similar vibe
This man is incredible. You MUST see him live as well. I’m glad he is becoming more and more well known
I've seen him live 4 times. Even better. His singing and lyrics are amazing.
Tracks from this album keep popping up on my Spotify feed and I think I have added every one to my liked list.
So overjoyed to see this reaction from you.
Have you listed to more? He is amazing!
The symphony got me in here
Just insane!
Bruh..im paused at your 1st break and my heart/chest is have an expansion party...dang
Pretty crazy that I discovered your channel about two weeks ago, and then you do a reaction to this amazing song by my favorite artist. I hope your experience with the music of Gregory Alan Isakov is as rewarding as it has been for me. Thanks for a great video!
I hadn't heard it. I love it!!!
Great to see you open to this. Gregory Alan Isakov is my go to playlist in my car.
Incredible
you should listen to This Empty Northern Hemisphere my favorite song of his
going down the new folk line.....so many great artists out there right now....gregory alan isokov is the king of chill folk, reminds me a bit of the late great nick drake, absolutely love his work. he is incredible live. damien rice, mandoline orange (whatchtower), ray lamontagne, andrew bird, julien baker, my personal favorite joe purdy just to name a few. most of these great artists you can see in small venues which is terrible yet great at the same time. its just where music is.
here from your Smashing Pumpkins reaction, let's check this out. Edit: I AM SOLD!
By the way, I think you would LOVE Mark Lanegan, specially his early solo work. Listen to One Way Street by him if you have a chance.
More GAI! He really doesn't have a song that isn't fantastic. Fills up my soul. Thanks for hitting this.
Great reaction to a beautiful song. It may not get as many views as some of your other videos but I assure you that those that do watch it will thoroughly enjoy it.
wow
Oh man! You gotta do Dylan Gossett-Coal.
I’m an old man. How do I buy you coffee on here and show you folk?!
Iron and wine and so many I’d love to share with you. All bangers. But sad. So strap in.
Amazing artist, collab with Colorado Symphony was next level. I have the Vinyl 🔥🔥 New to your channel, have you done Jose Gonzalez, if not I can recommend a track
I come from a bluegrass background so (narrowly) my favorite thing Greg and band have done is the version of Saint Valentine on The Bluegrass Situation's channel
Great reaction, love Gregory Alan Isakov. I hope you check out Elliott Smith or Ray LaMontagne for some more indie-folk goodness even if you never react to them on the channel. Both are immensely talented artists, in my humble opinion.
Please react to more Gregory Alan Isakov songs!
More GAI, nice.
Hello Polo and all, repeating the recommendation of others. Next time your listening to music, queue-up the Stable Song, also from Gregory Alan Isakov. Make sure it’s the Colorado Symphony Orchestra version which includes more banjo play compared to the regular version. I love hearing a banjo in a folk song.
i recommend you a song: On the train ride home - The Paper Kites
hey polo,if you think this is good check out the songs "All there is" and "The Trapeze Swinger". both amazing as well
Sufjan Stevens is quite an eclectic folk artist. I'd recommend either "John Wayne Gacy, Jr." Or "Casimir Pulaski Day" from him.
My man, you gotta check out The Doors, if you haven’t already.
Try listeng to tracks 6-14 on The Tubes Love Bomb. Start with track 6 Night people to the end of the album. I think you will like it.
Gives me some Ray LaMontagne vibes.
i hope you'll react to some ben howard music someday :)
I share your feelings about no patience for small talk and music that I don't like...if the song or music is annoying, distasteful, or just not to my taste I move on pretty quickly.
Gregory is his own genre. Certainly not basic folk music.
