    Bran is already watching from above, in a detached way, even before he hooks into the weirwood network.
    Plus, children were treated as adults in medieval society. High-born girls were married as soon as they could have children, boys were fostered to other lords. low-born children went to work as maids or stable boys, etc.

    • @sleekoduck

      There is a lot of evidence that childhood was a thing in Medieval times, but not adolescence. You might not want to read too much into things.

    The only way I could see Rhaegar wanting to name Jon "Aegon" is if he already knew of the sack of Kings Landing and knew His 1st Aegon was dead. You would think he would be named after Visenya, all things considered. Though, I always though Jaeherys was a good, fitting choice for Jon.

    There's also foreshadowing for King Bran in ADWD, I saw it in Melissandre's chapter when she said she prayed to her Rhollor to show her the King and she a a tree with a 1000 eyes and one, then someone with red eyes and she thought to herself is this the enemy? then beside him there was a boy with a wolf's face and he threw his head back and howled (these aren't the exact words but I'm close lol)

      I agree about the debate of King Bran. Bran is where Thrones failed us the most. The 3 eyed crow, children, Weirwoods, etc have been manipulating events since the Direwolves and the Stag found near Winterfell. Bran may not “want” the Throne, but Bloodraven does! I honestly feel they could have made one simple flash scene in the finale showing “Bran” did everything versus nothing and this alone would have altered MANY overall opinions for the final season.

    In the books, Blood Raven said he had been watching Bran for a long time. He knew that he had found a boy who would continually yearn to climb to the highest heights with no fear in both a mental and physical state. Caitlyn tried her best to stop Bran from scaling the castle landscapes as he was going so high. She also feared the advancement (career highs) of Ned to the Hand of the King and Rob to advance to King over Westeros.

    I think George forshadowed the "King Bran" thing by picking the Summer name. Summer is when Bran will do the reigning. It goes along with Arya picking a female warrior name. She'll be a warrior. Sansa will be the "Lady" of Winterfell. Jon will become a "ghost". Makes me really think it's Jon's sacrifice that makes Summer possible!

    One of the things that is interesting about Bran is that his storline heavilly mirrors Dany's storyline, but more on a magical level compared to the political.
    One thing I belive the ending in the books will be different from the show ending is that Bran as King won't let the Targaryen household to go extinct like in the show. I belive that in order to satisfy the Targ loyalists, will reveal Jon's true parantage before being crowned king, then send Jon to Winterfell with the task to rebuild House Targaryen, adapt the direwolf sigil and words and replace the Starks as Kings of Winter. In other words, he'll make sure that Bloodraven's oponents lose the game of thrones by officially uniting the Starks and the Targaryens into a single house.

    I think that you have to be in a coma or have a near death experience to open your 3rd eye. That’s why Bran see the body’s of the others who didn’t open their 3rd eye on spikes, because they did not fly in his vision. So they died. Maybe when bloodraven was stabbed in the eye by Bittersteel the same thing happened to him. Also if Johns not dead at the end of ADWD, and in a coma the same sort of thing may happen to him.

    • @rianbeegles3349

      It's about losing something to gain something I think, just like in the myth's of Odin sacrificing his eye to gain knowledge. I mean Arya may not be a greenseer but when she lost her sight, she gained more power as a skinchanger. That's when she began skinchanging into cats, along with Nymeria. I fully expect Jon to have more power when he's resurrected too.

    • @made-line7627
      @made-line7627 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@rianbeegles3349 So Bloodraven could very well be construed as Odin here, if the original commenter was correct in that he gained his "knowledge" after having his eye out.

    • @rianbeegles3349
      @rianbeegles3349 4 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@made-line7627 Oh for sure! There are a lot of Odin-like figures that pop up in ASOIAF. Beric is another Odin-like figure and as we can see with his true introduction in the Hollow Hills, his symbolism matches Bloodravn's greatly. Euron also matches this symbolism of Odin, but of course he's a "dark" version. Jon also has this symbolism too considering he almost got his eyes clawed out, but just like he rejected exploring his warg nature, he never quite looses an eye or his sight quite yet. Arya looses her sight and advanced from warg to skinchanger, plus learning the skills to navigate her way in the darkness. These are the ones I can think of off the top of my head, but I know there are a lot more. I know Lucifer Means Lightbringer explores this symbolism way more in-depth if you are interested, if you haven't checked him out already. :D GRRM definitely makes it a theme that if you want to gain something you have to sacrifice something, knowing or unknowingly. Bran lost the use of his legs to become a greenseer, and Arya lost her sight and it advanced her skinchanger abilities, so yes I do think once Bloodravn lost his eye, he advanced in power. :)

    In my opinion, Bran being king will mean being King in the North. As you both note, Bran is deeply connected to Winterfell and the North. In ACOK, he likens Winterfell's state to his own, not dead just broken. Bran becoming King of Westeros still doesn't make sense. KITN!Bran has always been the endgame that the books seemed to point to, IMO. The show altered it to make Sophie Turner happy since she's been pushing for Sansa to be important and becoming queen.
    As for him being afraid of the tree, maybe a future version of him tried to communicate with him before the start of the story. Catelyn already noted that she felt like she was being watched by the tree.

      A theory I like is that the stark kids' powers come from the Tully side of the family. So maybe Catelyn can sense someone is spying through the trees, but since she didn't develop her skills all of that is just a felling.
      Of course it could be that the tree is creepy

    On another note, did the Starks always have direwolfs? I mean, there are stone direwolfs at the feet of the Starks in the crypts below Winterfell and it was an "easy" decision for Ned to allow his children the Direwolfs. But I could find no info anywhere that say Bandon the Builder or Cregan Stark had Direwolfs. We have a very detailed history of the life and deaths of the dragons, but no info about Direwolfs. Did the old Starks have Direwolfs? If so, why is there no info. If not, why do the Starks in the crypts have the wolfs at their feet, and why oh why would Ned allow the children to keep the pups? (I would compare that to finding a litter of tiger kittens and allowing your children to keep them) Note,I know no Direwolf had been found south of the wall for along time at the start of A game of thrones.

    • @made-line7627
      @made-line7627 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All I know is that Benjen told Jon at the Winterfell feast that there were still direwolves north of the Wall. Your question is heaps legit though. All of the Kings of Winter had one put on their tomb, though none of the most famous Starks had a live one. Weird. If Bran the Builder was the founder of House Stark, perhaps the tradition wasn't in place, then. Yeah, I don't know!

      I like the idea that the Starks and their direwolves were so close bc of their warging that it's just common knowledge that the Starks have direwolves so no one mentions it. Like how we write "add 2 large eggs" in a recipe, not "add 2 large chicken eggs". So if a story says So-and-so Stark traveled here and did this, it's supposed to be implied "so-and-so Stark and their direwolf"

  • @tzaph67

    I think the Stark kids have been brought up to see the Night’s Watch as a noble calling. Many Starks have been in the NW historically and for the Starks of the story their uncle Benjen is a member. So I don’t think they’re that naive in this respect, they just believe what they’ve been told.

    I personally don't think KING BRAN foreshadowing is strong in this chapter but rather think that the "Robb not knowing Winterfell like I do" is nod to 3 eyed raven stuff & Bran going through true history of stuff either on or off paper.
    PS. Since Jon Arryn was investigating Cersei's kids at Stannis' behest, his sudden death likely made Stannis feel vulnerable and then Stannis most likely left King's Landing AFTER Robert announced that he was going North to ask Ned to be his hand

    Remember that the Weirwood Net is the accumulated memory of all the humans of the past. It’s not really alien or inhuman. It’s collective human consciousness as opposed to individual human consciousness. So imo the weirwood net is not evil, it just has a different perspective on History because it goes back so far in time. Maybe if Bran had tried to stop Dany burning KL a lot more people would have died in the long run.

    Awesome how all direwolves names and personality are foreshadowing of their masters destiny (Dah x 1000):
    Ghost is white as a Targaryen's silver-white hair (R + L = J , baby). Ghost is the place where Jon Snow's "ghost/soul/spirit" will reside before returning to his body. Ghost is the renegade/outsider of his pack, Ghost is the smallest of his pack, but he eventually grows to be larger than his mates, likewise, at the beginning of the story Jon Snow is a simple bastard but he will become a legend (That without taking into account his right to sit in the most uncomfortable seat in Westeros).
    Grey Wind, wind is a destructive force or influence as Robb will be, but the gray color has connotations of sadness (His early death), and his birth is a gray area (If you subscribe to the theory that Robb is Brandon's child). Robb will be the king who came and went like a gray wind.
    Lady adopts Sansa's trusting nature, to the point that she does not even sense Ned's intention to kill her. So, Sansa's romantic idea of being a "lady", princes, honorable knights, chivalry, and love will die, and so her trusting and dainty ways, she will be cunning like a fox.
    Nymeria is easy, she was named after Princess Nymeria of the Rhoynar, so Nymeria (direwolve) and Arya's story will mirror the story of the Princess of Dorne.
    Shaggydog, The black brother, I think Rickon will be like Edward of Woodstock, known to history as the Black Prince, named this way due to his dreaded acts and not from his complexion. What dreadful acts Rickon will commit?, you might wonder, well I think we might in the future see Rickon Stark returning astride Shaggydog commanding a Skagosi cannibal army mounted on charging unicorns committing dreadful acts, or at least, acts with which someone like Jon Snow or Ned Stark will not agree.
    And Finally Summer, the direwolve of old Nan's summer child. After Bran's fall, "Summer" spends every moment he can howling beneath his [Bran] window. Even when chased away, "Summer" returns and continues howling (Just like summer baby, will keep coming). So, Bran will be the summer king who will reign after the long night (winter) is defeated.
    Sorry, that was too f*cking long...

    Jamie's push wasn't a hard choice for him. He made it pretty quick, but also, that wouldn't occur to most people as an option at all. And the catch and questioning was probably selfishly motivated, because Bran may have caught himself and been able to get away before he figured out how to shut the kid up.

    What actually makes us think Rhaegar is the one that named the baby? There isn't real proof that he knew Lyanna was pregnant. But even if he did know, he was pretty convinced he would survive the war and come back, so what are the odds he already decided the name before he left? Maybe Lyanna named the baby with her own motives 😮

    First of all, wonderful collaboration you guys! It's always a pleasure watching your videos and hearing your ideas. Keep it up!
    And second, I would like to address the Weirwood-elephant in the room. Perhaps you guys can help me out here.
    ASOIAF leads us to believe that Brynden RIvers/Bloodraven/Three-eyed Crow/The last greenseer is able to see through the eyes of the faces carved into the Weirwood trees by the Children of the Forest, by being connected to the "Weirwood-net" through his entanglement in the roots of the giant Weirwood atop his cave.
    Does this mean that he can bear witness only to things that happened before a Heart Tree? Such as the things Bran Stark sees in Bloodraven's cave when he enters the "Weirwood-net" (the little girl and boy playing swords, whom we suspect was Lyanna Stark and little Benjen, and the woman sacrificing a man in front of the heart tree in Winterfell)
    Or
    Does connecting you to the "Weirwood-net" turn you into some omnipotent/omnipresent/spirit being that can just go anywhere in time and see shit that happened? Example:
    Show Bran SOMEHOW being able to witness Littlefinger whisper "I did warn you not to trust me" in Lord Eddard's ear in the Red Keep, despite not a single Weirwood tree/carved face present or around, and his "Chaos is a ladder" speech.
    The reason I'm asking this is because I hear an alarming amount of people talk about Bran Stark and his abilities (in context of the books) and how he's going to do this and this and this at the end of TWOW and ADOS by using the Weirwood-net, despite there being almost no Weirwoods left the further South you go. Sometimes it sounds like people are conveniently forgetting that to some degree, there ARE limitations to Bran's power as the last Greenseer, despite being able to see past, present and future.
    I dunno. Am I crazy for writing this? I apologize in advance if I've missed something obvious and if I've just made a massive ass of myself. But if you could shed some light perhaps on exactly where Bran's influence could possibly stretch bearing in mind where Weirwood trees are growing. I'm assuming no Weirwoods grow in Dorne...
    Once again, Grey and Joe Magician, loved this video and I'm a big fan!

    You don't need magic to notice someone looking at you when you're doing something you shouldn't.
    Specially if your life and your kid's lives depend on it. Usually in a secret couple, there's at leats one person taking the responsibility of watching out. Even if it's a 'safe place'. These siblings have decades on it, so it must be routine.

    IDK... it seems to me that Bran was going to fall... he was startled at having been seen... and by the Kingslayer and the queen no less. Jamie's first act, his first impulse, was to save him... and I think he's able to rationalize or justify killing him in thinking that had he not caught him, Brandon would have fallen anyway. And that may be true... it seems that Brandon losing the use of his legs was fated... so he would seek out Blood Raven. So in Jamie's mind, it's easy to think that Brandon would have fallen anyway, so his actions just re-sets what was supposed to happen anyway.

    I had strange dreams at age four and no one to answer my "whys" so around 6 or 7 I started answering them myself i matured mentally faster because of that I think.. Bran makes sense to me. He loves to climb, challenge. He likes the views, seen things that the people around him cant relate too. Plenty of examples that makes him extra ordinary. On top of that dream can impact a Childs growth and bran had crazy ones. I think grrm writs better Kids amoung other things pretty well.
    But Sansa compared to every other Child was just...
    See I like to think these character are archetypes. You can relate each character to a person Sansa is a special kinda stupid EVERYONE WARNED HER lol naive is a understatement but thats the charm its common. She want to live out a fairytale at all cost even if she unintentionally doing the most she just so naive and... Shallow that she just has her head in the clouds. But that backfires and forces her to be wiser and "deep".
    Jon was also stupid and naive but it didn't cost the same for him as it did for Sansa. Family wise.

      @justarandomgirlvx3578 4 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      But I don't think Sansa is a bad character. It makes sense for the situation and how she was raised. She is a very well written character and I can relate to her in some things. I ignored and closed my eyes in front of all the bad things and escaped to my ideal wish of life.

    • @sobored6165
      @sobored6165 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@justarandomgirlvx3578 yeah i agree shes well written and believable. She was a sheltered princess, very naive and some what shallow. But she has some of the most development from a little girl to young lady.
      For me i think George tells a story that mirror people of our day and age. Boys running off to be soliders unaware of what that means and what they are sacrificing. Girls chasing that naive dreams ignoring others advice. Greed and power will stand ontop but things done in darkness eventually come to light but it also sometimes doesnt. Like i see alot of our world and issue mirrored in asoiaf. Despite it being set in a fantasy medieval world.
      Plus i was a big brother to 4 girls i know how it is. i literally went threw a "jon saves sansa" moment more than 3 times. Lol

      @justarandomgirlvx3578 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      bored yup george does an excellent job at making this world feel so real and makes us relate to the characters. there is no PoV character which I don't like. The only PoV character I cannot judge is Areo Hotah, but I love the fact that he is more of a watcher, because I think it doesn't give away to much information for us, which makes Dorne to a riddle. It is good to have kind of neutral povs, even though he is not completely neutral, but he is the closest to neutral we have. And he still feels like a human being. Because even Areo has his moments when he slips to judge things. But right now his character isn't as fleshed out as the others

    Well now I'm even more convinced Bran and Arya are more connected than I thought, and I've found a lot of connections that might mean these two specifically being a team - Warg King and Warg Queen essentially (see LML's King Bran 1 video on that) - during the War for the Dawn. Arya and Bran have quite a few parallels from their arcs post-ASOS, but I didn't realize how many parallels they also shared from the beginning. Arya also climbs and resides in trees, especially in Harrenhal and the Riverlands and she is also called a Squirrel while with the Brotherhood, several times - Arya has a ton of associations with the Children of the Forest also - and like it was said in the video Arya also spies on Illyrio and Varys later in the book. Not to mention Arya and Bran also share some of the deepest connections with their direwolves right away, besides Jon, and they seem to share nearly the same type of love for Winterfell's people no matter their status, and that's not even everything I picked up from this one chapter on their parallels!
    Like I said I think in the War for the Dawn Bran and Arya are going to specifically be a team, but I also feel things are also being set up for Arya continuing to be there for Bran. I know GrayArea has different thoughts about Arya's endgame, but I keep becoming more and more convinced that Arya is going to sit on Bran's Council at the end. I just think these two are way more connected to each other in the endgame than most people think.
    Here is a great video by LML that kind of explains what I think will happen with Bran and Arya during the War for the Dawn: King Bran 1: The Greenseer Kings of Ancient Westeros
    and another great LML video about Arya's associations with the Children of the Forest which is obviously a link to Bran and the Old Gods is: Weirwood Goddess 2: It's An Arya Thing

    (In my Cardi B voice) WHAT IS THE REASON!!! WHAT IS THE REASON!!! WHAT IS THE REASON!!!! that in the most pivotal scene of the entire saga GRRM would introduce Jaime and Cersei's incestuous relationship... AT Winterfell... IN the Broken Tower.
    How many red flags does GRRM have to wave??
    I believe this scene is the KEY to everything, yet because of the salaciousness of the act everyone ignores the HUGE ELEPHANT in the room. Which is odd because the Targaryen incestuous relationships are taken for granted... yet outside of the Red Keep the same type of relationships at Winterfell in the "Old Keep" and at "Craster's Keep" are seen as unseemly. Why?
    Everyone acknowledges that the Targaryen practice incest as a means to keep their connection to their dragons. The only other family that has a "magical" connection to an animal are the Starks to their dire wolves.
    I also think that over time the saying "There is power in KinGs blood" is actually a corruption of " There is power in Kins blood" aka incest. If this is correct that means there is a power in incest particularly in the Targaryen and Stark lines as their blood has "magical" properties.
    I am going on record (as if any one cares) to say that this scene was actually a REINACTMENT of a history that has repeated itself at least twice before in which two Stark women later gave birth to their bastards conceived from incest. (Hint Bael the Bard is a lie and so is The Tower of Joy concocted tales to hide incestuous births from two Stark maidens).
    The three deadly sins of the North:
    1. Not abiding by Guest Rights
    2. Kin slaying
    3. Incest
    Doesn't "incest" seem out of place on this list? The first two are understandable to keep the peace but what is not practicing "incest" do? Seems like it was an "add-on". If there is power in kins blood then this would be a means to keep the Starks impotent ... and how and when did they separate from their dire wolves. Why are they all north of the wall? It's like Ygritte said to Jon that they have forgotten who they are.
    All this to say GRRM put incest in the plot for a reason and is not just being salacious --- Once you see that then Craster makes perfect sense and why the Night King could only turn babies conceived by incest because HE was conceived by incest. The power of kinsblood was unknown to the Children of the Forest and unwittingly made him undead... same thing happened to John Snow. Melisandre did not resurrect him he became undead because he was born of kins blood.
