      I had issues on a song with the clean guitar once. Initially thought that something was broken, potentially something with the spring tank. However, when I looked at my gritty strings I checked my ordering list and realized that I hadn’t changed for 9 months, allthough I was heavily recording almost all year at the time. The sound was conpletely fixed with new elixirs

    There is indeed a difference between the old and new strings, and much of it is high-end and clarity.
    And now, if I may give you some advice, never use steel wool to remove gunk and lemon oil to condition your fretboards.
    Even if you use the finest grade 000000 steel wool, you're putting fine scratches on it. And the lemon oil will eventually start drying out and pitting the fretboard.
    If the fretboard and frets are really gunky, use some Naptha sparingly with a dry cloth or Murphy's Oil Soap and a toothbrush to get it off.
    My personal choice to do both jobs very effectively is to use Music Nomad F-ONE Oil; that stuff is the absolute best and it lasts for months.
    And I can't stress enough the importance of wiping down your guitar from top to bottom after each time you play, with particular emphasis put on the fretboard, frets and top/bottom of the strings to keep everything clean so they don't get all gunked up, and also your strings will last longer and not go dead too quick.

    @JamesThomas-zl9er ปีที่แล้ว

    A lot depends on how well you care for your strings… in a reasonably dry atmosphere where they’re not rusting up, being played and wiped down etc. all factor it to how long they “last” - also there’s a huge difference on acoustic instruments… don’t forget how the string movement is turned into sound is fundamentally different between electric & acoustic instruments

    Hey buddy just one suggestion.. when you’re doing position changes don’t always lift your thumb off the neck instead keep your thumb on it then extend and contract your thumb. It makes transitions so much smoother and less abrupt sounding. You can also play faster that way. I used to lift my thumb now I slide it and stretch on it!!

    I actually prefer the sound of old acoustic strings but I like to change electronic strings pretty often

    That's why I change them on a monthly basis. Makes a ton of difference ^^

      Just get elixir strings. They don’t rust and stay bright for like 4 months of daily playing. Saves you a lot of money in the long run

      @@trendkill3333 Do you mean those Nanoweb strings? Like the coated ones? I played those for a while but I am kinda into my d'addario xt's and xs'. They are also coated but I still prefer changing them once a month.

      @@CrazyGuitarTV there’s nanoweb, polyweb and another one that I can’t remember. Yeah use what you like man. I personally need to use elixir because any uncoated strings I use just rust out super badly within a few weeks even if I clean them off after each play session. Never knew they also made coated strings, I might try them out and see if they last the same length of time

      @@trendkill3333 Yeah sure, give them a try. They both cost around the same price. Like always, it comes down to personal preference :)

    I would actually dial the tone knob back a little bit for the new strings. The tone is a little too abrasive

    that's why I buy elixir string, they sound the same for the longest of times, you only need to change them if they snap or they lose their tuning stability, other than that you can keep them on basically forever

    • @trendkill3333
      @trendkill3333 ปีที่แล้ว

      Same. I only ever need to change them when they get really rusty which takes like 7-8 months of daily playing to get them to that point. On my guitar anyway they go rusty before they lose any stability. I don’t know why people buy any other brand really. Elixir just saves you so much money and time, it pains me that some people change their strings like every two weeks which is what I’d have to do if I play any uncoated string.

    Everyone knows strings sound the best right before they go bad 😔

    The tone for what you played definitely sounded better on the old strings IMO, warmer more soulful sound. Was it the exact same model of strings?
    I'm not a player but I've been around guitars and recall old strings FEELING kinda gross in your hands, so you could probably replicate the sound of the old strings on new ones with even just a little EQ.

    Some EQ changes on the old strings night make them sound like the new ones.
