Being new to this competitive field I am not clear which one is better WBCS OR SSC CGL. Because in CGL post like GST INSPECTOR the salary is almost same as WBCS officers ,work life balance is also good ....if any guidance mam
In CGL you may not get your home state, no pension, promotion is very slow in CGST, in WB only 2-3 promotion in whole career. WBCS salary will increase as the govt can't keep the DA perpetually low.

Ar CGST Inspector e promotion bishal slow, bisheshoto Kolkata ar other North India zones e, relatively ektu fast South e. Nowdays it takes about 15 years just to become Superintendent in Kolkata Zone, then another 8-9 years to become AC (IRS Cadre), whereas WBCS officers start from the rank of AC and by that time they will reach upto the rank of Sr JC or Addl Commissioner ar might get IAS nomination also.
