Repairing unresponsive keys on a MIDI keyboard

  • Trimming the rubber bumper under a key allows it to travel down a fraction of a millimeter further with each key press, thus making better contact with the sensors. For me at least, this solved the problem of "quiet" keys on a used CME M-Keys midi controller I had purchased. Now they respond to gentle key presses again.

This seems to be a common issue with the M-key it seems. Thanks for putting this tutorial together. I'll get to fixing mine now!

My problem is exactly the opposite, when pressing the A4 key it is sending always a velocity of 127, even when pressing it softly. I will open my Behringer keyboard with the help of this video and see what I can do

Does anyone know how to make a CME M-Key work with windows 11? I'm facing the issue of my laptop (or even my super old laptop running vista) to detect it? When I plug it in to my laptop, all the lights turn on (Shift and both data + and data -) but nothing else happens and it won't connect!

Same keybed as behringer MS-101 - if the keys lift at all the plastic bumpers crack - really rubbish design for a keytar.
