    How do you tell a customer "Fuck you if you want to upgrade" without saying it!

      You aint lying lol. Its why some RAM sites will claim this model isn't upgradable.

    I wish I saw this video before I brought RAM for my dad's similar model. I checked the Specs online and purchased accordingly, SSD and 8GB stick. Opened it up and looked it over and figured it was under there.
    While undoing the 8 screws I got a sinking feeling that Swapping the RAM was beyond my skills. So I ended up just swapping the old Hard disk for an SSD.

      It looks more intimidating than it is. Heres a tip, Take pictures of the motherboard with the screws and ribbon cables before disconnecting them. Then you simply revert back to the pictures for the screw placements and ribbon connections.

    Hi, I just realized this model might be the last mini model to support miniature size with modular upgrades. The laptop can be a beast if you add 32gb of ddr4 with ram being able to run at reduced mhz, and having either 2tb of sata m.2 or 8 tb of gen 3 nvme.

      You are not wrong! I always tell my customers most of these laptops just need some TLC/upgrades and they are faster than a $1300 laptop! Most of the time, upgrades cost less than a new one because a new one is not going to have these bad ass components I upgraded their current laptop with.

      @@coryscomputerrepairI want to upgrade this laptop's SSD. The OEM replacement is SATA, but the "upgrades" I found online are PCIE. Will a PCIE SSD fit and work in this laptop? Thanks

      @coryscomputerrepair  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@privateassman8839 I do not see a PCI-E M.2 slot in this laptop. You would need 2.5" SSD.

      @@coryscomputerrepair I just realized I have a different model. I have the 11m-ap0013dx laptop. It does have m.2 support, and from a technical manual someone leaked, it does have NVME PCIE support. I'll probably get a 2tb SSD for it. Thanks!

    Thanks for the video, repairing an 11m-ad0xx and I cannot find anything on this specific model, hopefully it will be roughly the same.

      The “xx” simply represents that it’s a custom to order “CTO” build, that’s why you are struggling to find info on that model. The actual model can be found in small
      Lettering on the bottom of the laptop. Of you can go here to find it by serial number. support.hp.com/us-en/checkwarranty

    I mean, at least it *has* a SODIMM slot. At this price point, and with this sort of cost-cutting design, I expected eMMC and soldered RAM, not a SODIMM slot and 2.5" bay.

    Is it possible for you to replace/upgrade the RAM on a Laptop? The RAM is soldered and "not removeable." Microsoft Surface Laptop

    Thanks for sharing this. I have the same machine, same problem with zoom. Would you go for a 16GB upgrade instead of 8GB? And... how did you remove the keyboard instead of the back?

    • @coryscomputerrepair
      @coryscomputerrepair  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hello Kali, according to Crucials website for this model(www.crucial.com/compatible-upgrade-for/hp---compaq/pavilion-x360-11m-ad013dx) this model maxes out at 8GB of RAM. Also, the customer had no need for 16GB for her daily use, it would have been overkill for her. As far as how did I remove the keyboard instead of the back. On this model, the back is NOT how you get to the internals, the top is. There a a total of 9 screws that have to be removed from the bottom. 3 each behind each of the rubber strips. Peel the strips up, remove those six screws. then towards the front edge, there is three more small screws on the left, middle and right side. Once all 9 screws are removed, flip the laptop back over and use a spudger (or credit card) to careful pray up along the edges of the laptop. I say CAREFUL because there are ribbon cables connected from the top to the motherboard. You need to pry it up just enough to get to the cables and disconnect them before you remove the keyboard. You can watch this other video for more detail on how to accomplish this for this model.

      @@coryscomputerrepair can this model be opened not from keyboard, but from rear/upside down?

    • @coryscomputerrepair
      @coryscomputerrepair  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@debbiebernhardt3742 I wish! Unfortunately, no it cannot. That was part of my frustration, although I don't specifically mention it. There is no access to the components of this machine "The normal way" most laptops would have, from the bottom/upside down. Just the worse designed laptop. However, HP is famous for designed their laptops so it's incredibly hard to reach the components , let alone upgrade them. I always tell customers to stock with Lenovo, ASUS & Dell. Rock solid laptops with minimal hardware issues and all three usually have access panels for the RAM and hard drive on the under side of the laptop without having to open the entire unit. Even the processors have upgrade options with those three brands!
      P.S. man oh man my microphone sucked back in 2021. I am sure glad I invested in a quality microphone, you can hear the difference in my newer videos.
