With the new Lightyear film not far away, I thought it would be fun to pimp out Buzz's arch enemy, Zurg!
This was a lot of fun to do, Geeks & Geekettes!

In the final trailer, when you see him in space with his mouth glowing, the silhouette gives me the impression that hes wearing a cape.

This is one of the coolest redesigns I’ve ever seen. I love how they pretty much made him Resident Evil Nemesis like when he was stalking the crew.
This is such a cool look for Zurg. Am I the only one getting a Enclave Power Armor vibe from this figure?
funny thing is zurgs first appearance was almost a year after the release of fallout 2 which is the first time we see enclave power armor so any similarities may not be complete coincidence

I see Lightyear as more of a classic "Hollywood Remake" in the Toy Story universe. We've already seen the Toys watch "Buzz Lightyear of Star Command" as well as posters and artwork on the Boxes and in-stores in both Toy Story 1, 2, and the Star Command opening theme. So like a lot of Cartoons got, Lightyear is a big budget Hollywood version with a "star" playing Buzz instead of the Voice Actor.
Actually, the director said that if the Star Command (Pixar doesnt particularly like it, because they didnt have much imput) exist, it would be releashed after a trilogy of Lightyear films. Which isnt uncommon, as loads of films got animated series that had different themes and tones.
There's also the thing about lightyear, is that Buzz is moving forward in time. If you look at the Star Command emblem, it changes to resemble more of the one we see in toy story.
This body could be used as the body of a Sentinel from the X-Men
Looks a little like Noisy Boy from Reel Steel, love it!

That turned out awesome! Doing things like warhammer the past few years I was really unsure how the rust would look. Just as a helper I guess, Vallejo and a few other companies make dark and fresh rust effects paints. I swear by Vallejo's ones as they have a fine grit in them and when it dries it has that crusty effect to it which is great. Can get them in a set with a verdigris and a few gore effects which might be great for figurines etc

Your work as always is incredible!!! Although I cannot say I’m a fan of the design of Zurg in the new lightyear movie. Zurg looked awesome in toy story 2 with the Dr Strange cape and the huge claws. The new Zurg just looks like purple Megatron.
im just hoping they don’t pull a marvel and reveal that zurg is actually his friend from before he gets sent forward im time.

I like Zurgs new look. He used to be just a Darth Vader knockoff, but now his look is like he's mixed with Megatron from the Michael Bay films. I was 5 or 6 seeing Toy Story at the movies and the kid in me wants this movie to be awesome too.

Also I love the design and I’m glad that for most of the movie he’s probably going to be hidden in shadow in the end.
I remember when the first trailer came out and they didn’t show Zerg I also wanted the design to be like General grevious from the old 2d animated clone wars show where all you can see is his head and cape and then he reveals the rest of his body and you’d see zurgs massive cannon

Surge just looks more menacing in this movie the shape oh him little details and the weathering and battle damage
I also find it quite ironic that they turned a toy into its own solo fmovie and then back to a toy

In toy story 2 it’s said that Zurg is Buzz’s father, I wonder if it’s just a Star Wars reference and joke or if we are actually gonna learn that Buzz is Zurg’s son. If they do, I wonder how that’s gonna work

Man zurg looks like megatron
I have always been a Hasbro/LEGO fan rather than Mattel. But after seeing these toys, I realized how cool that brand is. I mean, LEGO is expensive, and Hasbro are mostly giant blocks. I'm surprised that all these action figures from Mattel do actually have thousands of movable joints, no matter how "cheap" the figure can be!

Honestly believe it wasn't necessary to separate the limbs and head from the body. Painting and weathering could have all been done on figure as a whole.
