  • In this video we review the Royal Enfield Hunter 350. All up, Bry has had the bike for eight weeks, which we feel is a good enough time for her to get used to it and form a good honest opinion.

    Tubeless tyres vs tube tyres puncture comments response here.
    Hey guys, Alex here, director and producer on the channel. A few of you have been commenting on the fact that we say you can't get punctures on tubeless tyres in the video. This isn't right, yes you can, tubeless tyres are just more puncture resistant. Thanks to all of you who have pointed this out, well spotted!

    • @bryrides

      Good spot from those who noticed I mixed up my words here - had meant to say that you can’t get a puncture as easily 😊

    • @nigelbaldwin752
      @nigelbaldwin752 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Think that still misses the value of tubeless tyres, in that is they are easier and a better chance of carrying out a quick repair, using a plug,. In short one can usually be repaired during journey.

      EXACTLY this - 're tubless. I've had one rolling puncture in my life and it was on a tube tyre. It deflated very rapidly and I struggled to control the bike, thank goodness I was already in the act of slowing down for a roundabout.
      Still didn't put me off the bike though.

      If I may, tubeless tyres are just as vulnerable to punctures to tubed tyres. Just that, it is much easier to fix a TL tyre puncture than a TT tyre puncture.

    I am 5'6" male and generally intimidated by both big burly and speedy race bikes. But this one is gentle, economical, safe and still so enjoyable. Timeless design, functional and well engineered. Thinking of getting one to beat city traffic and feel the wind on country rides.

      I'm the same. I recently got into motorcycles, myself for context. I find some big ones really cool, but if I rode one, I personally would prefer riding the ones that are shorter, a bit smaller and more minimalistic. Recently, I've also heard of the Yamaha Bolt. Curious what you think about that one. It's also quite small in size and looks very comfortable.

      Question! Can it pull an adult male rider up a steep road at 65 to 70mph...or even 60 to 65?
      I have only tested it near the dealer (mostly flat hwy) It is a beautifully balanced bike but pretty pokey....very similar to a CB250 (234cc twin), however that beastie can hold 70 on a long hill.
      I live near The Dragon and Cherohala Skyway in the Blue Ridge Mountains. I don't care for thrilling acelleration, but I also don't want to be mopedding up the mountain to my house stuck at 40.

    My second motorcycle was a GT750 kawasaki which I bought in 1983. That bike was 275 kg dry weight so the side stand questionable on anything other than concrete or thick bitumen. I always carried a small square of plywood in my jacket pocket to put under the side stand in other places. If you happen to forget it, just get another!

My car is obviously tubeless and has had 2 pictures since I bought the car over 3 years ago , and foam fixed them both ( still driving on the same tyres with foam it , 2 years later ) 👍👍

    Of course any tire can get a puncture. With inner tubes you have to remove the tire from the rim after removing the wheel from the bike, then reassemble the whole mess. Tubeless tires can be plugged and reinflated while the wheel remains in place.

    Good review. It’s a beef upped 125 which I actually don’t consider a bad thing. I can see this being the second bike you’d end up riding more than your first choice. You can’t knock the price either. Chinese 125s are now around the £3500 mark and I’d rather deal with Enfield when it comes to getting spares and support etc. The build quality on enfields is really starting to progress too. These sort of bikes are starting to make sense for people who need a cheap, efficient commuter/every day to tackle busy, camera laden and pot holed uk roads.

This is exactly what a motorcycle should be. Rides right, looks right, sounds right, and handles right...for me. I would rather plug a tubeless tire, than bother with with a spoked rim and an inner tube when out and about. If you get the passenger/pillion back rest and mounting hardware then the grab rails are then one solid connection and then you could attach your lock without it falling off.

I live in the city and freeways here have an average cruising speed of 70-80 when there's little traffic so I need something that can keep up with a little reserve. At 5'6" it looks made to measure on you, unfortunately I would think anyone over about 5'10" may well look like a circus bear riding a unicycle on one. With a wheelbase of 1370mm, and 17" wheels it's a pretty diminutive looking bike.

      The seat height is 790mm, Bry might only be 5'6" (unimagined loftiness for us shorties) but it looks like she can flat foot both sides so I suspect she has quite long legs, women tend to have longer legs than males of the same height.

    I would be more inclined to purchase this bike if a 350cc bike was what I wanted. The other 350cc bikes Royal Enfield offers seem, to me - personal opinion - to be the same bike with a few cosmetic changes. Sorry guys - my opinion. That said, I’m waiting for the 450cc Scram to hit Canada. Good review, thank you.

    Me from India and this is an icon of mobility in ny land. But over the years old timers and die hard fans of the Bullet as the Royal Enfield is referred to in India say the new Bullets don't have the same thud -thump or let us say the old Bullets were the acoustic bass and the new ones are electric bass guitar and worse the synthesized bass of a keyboard or synthesizer and lack soul😂. But it is heartening for me being an Indian to watch the fame and popularity of Royal Enfield in England ,The U.S.A. and Europe . Of course the Butter Chicken and Chicken Nasala Tikka made India famous in Western countries and the Bullet proves India has come a long way. Happy Bulletting 😂.😊😊

    My Yamaha Radian is very similar in the overall design to the Hunter although it is from 1986. It has all the rideability and practicality of todays machine so I can understand the popularity of the Hunter. The seat design is the same, height is the same, weight same, wheelbase etc etc. Power not the same lol I am rambling sorry.

    You can get a puncture on tubeless tyres. Not as likely as tubed, but you can.

    • @ivanbrasla

      I'm not a motorcyclist (yet) but I thought the good thing about tubeless tires is that you can easily fix a (small) puncture with a special compound inserted into the air valve

      Also, tubed tires deflate in an instant in case of a puncture. While tubeless tires lose the air in a slow controlled manner, giving you enough time to go to a repair shop.

    I once suddenly lost all air in my rear tyre at about 40 mph. 14 inch tyres on my 150cc scooter. It got a little scary for a moment, but I managed to get to the side of the road safely. Parked the scooter at a shop nearby , walked home to get my truck to return the scooter home and after adding air to the tyre it never lost air again. I do not know if possibly after sitting all winter it may have lost just enough air to allow the tyre to shift a bit on the wheel and thus the air was allowed to escape and causing the problem.

  • @Skiamakhos
    @Skiamakhos ปีที่แล้ว

    You can definitely get a puncture with tubeless tyres - but are yours filled with tyre goo to self-repair the moment that happens? The only reason to run tubed tyres is if you're likely to be bashing about over rocks like on an off-road bike. In that case the risk of denting your rim is greater. A dented rim would mean your tubeless tyre wouldn't stay inflated as the beading couldn't seal, whereas a punctured tube, you whip it off, slap on a patch, stick it back on & you're good to go even if your beading won't seal to your dinged rims. I ride an Africa Twin which comes with tubed tyres as standard so I've had to go through that whole "Ugh, should I fit tubeless?" - truth is if I get a puncture on the motorway it's likely to deflate very fast & throw me off, and I'm only really into greenlaning a bit, so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ - still undecided.
