I was just about to ask. My daughter has disability. And I just need to stay strong for her in a whole different way. I have limited time. I can't think for myself at times and need to make sure I can follow something I will gain from.

I feel like everyone talks about aesthetic insecurities, but never mention mobility insecurity too. In an emergency situation, will I be able to pull myself up? Hell, can I even lift my body weight? There’s so many more useful reasons to train for calisthenics

For sure! Especially with age I started feeling necessity of exercising even just for functioning normally.

Something like this happened to me recently. I was cleaning and dropped something behind my washing machine. So i had to crawl on it and reach back behind. When I reached for it i had to hang down a little. Everything was fine until i slipped and almost fell on top of my head. I wouldve been stuck like that for 6 hours since my husband was at work. Terrifying to think retrieving furniture polish could end up killing me had i not caught myself.

    2) core engagement (kill those abs). Hollows/Superman
    - reversed planks
    3) full range of motion
    4)master the basics
    - Pull ups
    - Push ups
    - Dips
    - Squats
    - Mobility
    - Core
    5) How to progress:
    - Start slowly
    - Focus on negative fase
    - full range of motion

I used to have a body like this and be able to do these moves, though it was from doing yoga and pilates not calisthenics. Now, 20 years later, 3 pregnancies, a back injury and carrying an extra 70lbs of weight i want to get back to it. I will get it back!

Love this video, I’ve been weight training for over a month now, & been adding Pilates and yoga in there also. Calisthenics is something to definitely add in your routine. Im also working on getting my splits both sides and straddle, but I’ve been searching/experimenting so many videos sometimes it gets overwhelming on what’s best to do for that. It would be pleasing to make a video on that?

Great video thank you very much I am 72 yr and trying to get back in to shape, a couple of months ago I was in the hospital and then took about a month to get back to feeling sum what good. I could not do 1 pull up and only 1 dip and 8 push ups, I started weight training with free weights and a cable machine, to day i did pull ups 6 , 7, and 4 ; dips 11,11 and 10 ; So weight training dose help, but my goal is to do 20 pullups 20 dips and 60 pushups. I like full body work outs but needed the weight training to get me motivated as I could progress a little quicker in it. I will be doing bough, but when I work out with weights I use full movement of the mussels I am working. Again great video keep me going thank you. My first set of push ups was 20 doing my work out while watching this video at 72 need a little more rest between sets.

Great information. I appreciate the detail.
I trained athletes for decades as a martial artist and eventually a grand master. I competed for 27 years and messed my body up pretty bad. New hips rebuilt shoulders and such. I even coached a few people who trued out for the Tae Kwon do Olympic team. Thankful for what I was able to do. This information makes me want to move more and build my body back up to past where it used to be. I am 65 now so this will quite an endeavor.
Again, well done and thank you.

    1) BB Deadlift 5 x 5 - 8 reps
    2) BB Hyper ext. 5 x 10 reps + 2 drops
    3) Weighted Pull ups (strict form) 5 x 5 - 8 reps
    4) Body Rows 4 x 15 reps
    5) BB Rows 4 x 8 reps
    6) Rope sled pulls (functional)

Excuse me, I am not as good in English as I wish, I didn't really understand what exactly is said at 7:19. If it was said that working on flexibility also increases strength then I fully agree that. I observed the same, and I believe I also heard it somewhere else, maybe from some martial arts source... I think lack of flexibility for a body works like some inner resistance factor, naturally with less of that resistance more power can be used faster.

it scares me and makes me want to get into it at the same time. i think this could be really benefitial for climbing. I think you would probably be a great climber, with that hell of body control

Very cool beginners video. I’m a body builder and suck royally in calisthenics. Off to trying/improving my body strength now 😁

Great video, I didn't really know what Calisthenics was, now I do :) Funny enough I somehow have been shifting to calisthenics. I work full time, one hour drive to, and back, and have kids. I tried to go to the gym 3 times a week, but time is a factor there. With households, work that still has to be done in the evening, social agenda's of the kids etc. I noticed I couldn't keep up my gym sessions. Not wanting to give up. I started introducing things from the gym during my work hours. 2 to 3 planks a day, twice some form of push-ups, running up and down 5 floors 4 times in the lunch break. That kind of thing. I seem to be able to keep it up till now. I would want to know which kind of exercises I should do x times a day/week. I've been thinking about doing the push-ups only every second day as I seem to have reached a maximum I can't seem to pass (29), and maybe do something else the other days of the week. In short. I need a program, hitting al of my mayor muscle groups, so I can age healthy and to counter my desk job "sitting", and be able to do it in between meetings/writing reports and seeing patients. Would be great if you could touch on that topic in a video.

I love your videos. Please recommend your video to start callisthenics from zero; I am a lady with 0 muscle and never works out. thanks!!!

You are good. Beautiful. Thanks for motivation and a lot of good advices. I used to do some similar things when I used to breakdance. Unfortunately life got in a way negatively and I lost it all, haven't even done a single pullup in ~four years, although kept exercising minimally in other ways. I am literally starting from zero, used to be able to do 10+/ now one or negatives. It is very nice to get inspiration and lessons like here.
I have few notes, that perhaps few will find useful. Getting bigger also didn't help that much with Calis or breakdance exercises, I felt like I was at my optimum when I weighted 77-81kg, being 1.79m height. Also I developed some kind of food related sicknesses which I just started discovering not long ago, I used to be getting really weak and low energy at a times, reducing food that contains eggs and/or flour/gluten had noticeably positive impact, as well as starting partially practicing Keto (most importantly not eating early in the morning).
Of all the benefits mentioned I'd say pure fun of doing those things is just almost enough to do it, even though there are all these other huge benefits.
