I have even heard performances where the orchestra makes a very obvious rest, which doesn't exist in the score, between "leben" and "schlafe" while the performer takes a breath. I don't say this to be critical of them, as it's a difficult transition between "leben" in bar 5 and "schlafe" in bar 6. I only make this observation because you are one of the rare performers who makes the transition quickly and smoothly without the orchestra having to alter the tempo. Your ability to do so makes a great difference in the "feel" and enjoyment of the aria from the beginning. Thank you.
