Hello Mike, this is an interesting video about these many different passenger train companies. With many different locomotives and railcars. I'm really looking forward to the next video. Best regards from Germany Wolfgang
Just to clarify 3 things for people who don't know: 1. BL20GH diesels are diesel only, not dual mode. They can usually be found on branch line service, such as the Danbury branch, Waterbury branch, and Wassaic branch(technically not a branch since it's part of the harlem line and does not branch off) and sometimes they can also be found on deadheads from Croton Harmon. 2. Metro North has leased two CT rail GP40-3Hs, 6698 and 6699, to be used as a supplement for the BL20's (since some BL20s are being rebuilt.) 3. I'm surprised you didn't mention the fact that Metro North released a few heritage units this year, 208 (beachball unit), 201 (conrail unit), and 211 (new york central unit), which i think is the best. Excellent vid CoasterFan2105!!!
Very interresting video for me!! I can finally understand all the differences between the compagnies in the eastern states. Thanks Mike i am waiting the second video.
Great video! Just to clarify a few things about the mbta. 1. Stoughton line is the only line that does not see weekend service. 2. The Newburyport/Rockport line is technically one line just split into branches as is the PVD/STO line. That’s all I have for ya, great video nonetheless and congrats on 10 years!
Love the video! Very exciting rail infrastructure projects ahead for some of these commuter railroads, including VRE. With the planned improvements in Virginia can allow weekend service on the VRE.
3:12 MBTA Commuter Rail (Massachusetts) 6:10 CT Rail (Connecticut) 8:21 Long Island Railroad (NYC) 10:47 Metro North (NYC) 13:01 New Jersey Transit 15:30 SEPTA Regional Rail (Pennsylvania) 17:38 MARC (Maryland) 20:06 Virginia Railway Express 21:19 SunRail (Florida) 22:39 Tri-Rail (Florida)
Great video!!!! Only missing piece was the piedmont. in NC. I def enjoyed this video and all the detail you put in it as well!! Looking forward to the midwest and central U.S video 💪🏾👑
Technically the Piedmont is classified as an intercity Amtrak train that runs between Charlotte and Raleigh, NC…but not exactly a commuter railroad…thanks for pointing it out though… :)
@zacharysequeira5433 yeah I hear what you're saying but he talked about shoreline east service up in Connecticut though so... which works with amtrak as well.. .. 😂😂 🤷🏾♂️ so still. The peidmont doesnt use amtrak locomotives at all. So its in the same category as shoreline east. No disrespect towards the author of this video because no ones perfect. I still enjoyed the video and watch tons of his content as well.
Could you do a train talk episode on how train gets their identity like for example CSX I017 or like Norfolk Southern 16G. Like those kinds of identitys
@@CoasterFan2105 thanks friend it's been something that's been bugging me for a while and I've been railfanning for 19 years so it's something I've always wondered how do trains get their identity picked
Train Talk on the commuter rail operation of Canada (Go, Exo, and West Coast Express), Mexico (El Insurgente and Tren Suburbano) and Costa Rica (Interurbano Line) when?
You probably already know this, but CTRail also has some MBB CTC-3 cabcars borrowed from MBTA. They're being returned, but I just wanted to point that out.
Ahh, the Northeast Corridor. (and Florida LOL) I kinda wish that California had the electrified rail mainlines, especially an electrified San Joaquin connecting LA to NorCal and the Central Valley, kinda similar to what the Northeast Regional would be, except on the West Coast. I guess the High-Speed Rail will achieve that, though it wouldn't be a series of commuter rail lines tied together like we have in the Northeast.
Alright, a few things: I'm impressed you didn't fall into the town name "traps" with the T - the only one you botched was Greenbush (as "Greenbrush") ConnDOT missed the PERFECT opportunity to call their passenger rail operations division ConnRail A shocking number of the newer start-ups were birthed from highway construction congestion alleviation, I'm surprised Pittsburgh's PATrain and Parkway Limited, and Burlington's Champlain Flyer didn't stick around as long as SLE & Tri-Rail
Seeing 2308 in a modern video was a gut punch😕. I miss the AEM-7/ALP-44 era of septa. Fun facts as well. Unlike MTA/NJT comet cars the official designation is JWC-II
Amazing, it would've been nice if the Canadian Commuter Railroads were possibly included as there's only 3 in the entire country (GO Transit, EXO & West Coast Express)

I’m really liking the 1st train talk video of 2023. It has been a long time coming.
Indeed it has! Thanks for watching!
Awesome video! Excited for the central USA video. I also can’t wait for the light rail episode, hope it covers DART in Dallas!
Thank you! The central one should be good! Script is all done and I just need to put it together.

Hi, Mike. Do enjoy your films. I'm learning a lot about an American railroading. Thanks.

Another awesome video. Enjoyed and have a fantastic upcoming weekend.(Steve)
The Brightline extension to Orlando opened today, which Tri-Rail will start connecting to MiamiCentral in November.
It's interesting that the fallen flags freight services provided commuter rail back in the day
Incredible video!! I definitely learned at least some new stuff about each commuter railroad service.
Excellent 👌
Thank you!
