Most would have sold it for 9 million but for a man who didn’t know Elvis he sure did have respect. Just goes to show that money means nothing. Rip to the both of them.
May I tell you what the people who produced this film did NOT say. Mr. Castor had two identical 507's, both in terrible shape, both from 1957. What he agreed was to give the two cars to BMW Classic, for TOTAL restoration. One, chassis 70089, to be given back to him, the other , 70079, to be kept by BMW Classic. The deal was followed to the letter, and since Mr. Castor died in 2015, his widow received it the next year, fully restored. Since she didnt want to use it, she gifted it, some say sold it, to her late husband' s closest friend, Ron Gilmartin. Now, in 2018, Jerry Seinfeld found out about the Elvis car, so he asked BMW Classic to let him use it for TWO hours in his TV progfam, "Comedian in cars having coffee". They declined but were nice enough to direct him to Mr, Gilmartin, who joyfully lent Seinfeld the car. The esisode is from 2019, and the person he chose to be in the car with, is the two time Oscar winner, Austrian national Christoph Waltz. Since Jerry would have had to admit the egg BMW Classic threw on his face, he does not mention throughout the entire program, can you believe it, that the car he is riding is the twin of the most celebrated and valuable BMW unit ever made. For him, it's like the car was like that, since 1957...LOL. Gilmartin's name is thanked at the end credits, it's all on NETFLIX.
