I'm from Windsor and me and my dad where going through Bradford at around 2am he thought it was a Jag so we turned around to look at it, the only reason I knew what it was is from Jay lenos garage
Yeah, not an exact duplicate, but close enough to evoke the same response! And he'll probably have less than 50 grand in it. All for his beautiful fiance', Jolene. That is love.
in 1936 Robert Aumaitre, chief mechanic with Bugatti from 1935, confirmed that the aerolithe was scrapped. Sorry to say but there is no hope to find the old original aerolithe.
@@retroracingshirt591 The most plausible explanation is that they quickly removed the body from the chassis as they needed a chassis for they racing cars, then they let the body rest somewhere in the workshop until it got scrapped in the turmoil of WW2. Robert Aumaitre knew everything that was going on in his workshop, so if he says it's been scrapped, it means it has been scrapped.
David your guys built one beautiful car i haven't seen in my life ! Superb craftsmanship! Hands down this Bugatti was and is the greatest car built in this era ! Omg and what can you do to top it ? NOTHING ! Keep on building and keep on surprising the world !
Someone somewhere must be thinking of recreating one out of conventional materials and more modern technology, to create a more ownable and driveable example.
Kraus Morris in Australia we call a person building car bodies coach builders as they are the elite tradesmen who don’t use bog to get a good quality finish on the metal bodies ,I watched that build of the original car those blokes made everything by hand it was a great show.
The original is probably stashed away in Italy or roam area..if your able to tap into our amazing eather energy's..it won't be like finding a needle in a hay stack..she's definitely a work of art and a gorgeous machine ♥
I agree it's a gorgeous car but taking it on the road is like driving an old Model T or a farm tractor. This is why he's shown this replica all over the world, yet could find no buyers with the million dollar price tag. Maybe he could rent it out for prom dates to recoup the cost, but it would probably cost another $20,000 to register it as a road-worthy, drivable vehicle.
It's known what happen to the original... the mystery is why it was dismantled? one theory is that the magnesium panels were not keeping their shape for very long.
I looked it up. It is a Bugatti 57SC Atlantic and he paid $40,000,000. Only four were made! That's just stupid money, right there. It did not say Aerolithe. I guess there is a difference. The Bugatti Type 57's were made from 1934-1940 but, only 800 were made. So, I guess the Aerolithe is a different animal. I see the headlight placement is different. I wonder what else is different.
The another one which is the production version( only 4,1 is missing(nickname la voiture noire)),is not using elektron or magnesium alloy like the prototype model.
Actually the second chassis that lost nickname la voiture noire because the exodus from german occupation on the bugatti factory in 1938,so the car maybe sold or been hiding in somewhere place and never been found until this day. While the 4th atlantic was owned by ralph lauren.
I drive by their shop in Bradford, ON, Canada everyday on the way to work and stare at that piece of artwork through the window!
Im in Newmarket and drive by the shop at least a few times a month
I'm from Windsor and me and my dad where going through Bradford at around 2am he thought it was a Jag so we turned around to look at it, the only reason I knew what it was is from Jay lenos garage
Absolutely beautiful piece of automotive artwork
Bad Chad is building one and it's looking amazing so far. Go Hiltz!
You beat me to it.

"I'd liked to have torched it." Well, the good news is that the torch wouldn't need to be particularly hot. :)
Now that is some dedication right there. Bloody brilliant!
I watches the show I wish they did a full build series on just that.

OMG That is BEAUTIFUL!
Nice to have finally seem it finished.
Haven't seen it since it was in body work stages.
Don't ever deal the Guild . They will rip you you off . BAD . Trust me , I worked there ... Unfortunately.
Someone somewhere must be thinking of recreating one out of conventional materials and more modern technology, to create a more ownable and driveable example.
Check out Bad Chad hes building one using all recycles car parts
Koux replicas...
Awesome classic
I’ve seen a black one, idk if it was hand built or if it was the original.
Bad chad has one too lol 😂
Bad Chads is not in the same league as this ,he’s not what I call a tradesman he lives the big to much.
@@terryreeves676 what you mean is he isn’t a coachbuilder

Not Chicago FYI ... the shop is in Bradford Ontario Canada
See that spitfire in the background. Every true car guy owns a triumph
And anyone who knows British cars knows they do need work haha
What the heck? You made no mention of that owner's name (David Grainger), or his shop (The Guild), or his tv show, Restoration Garage.
Absolutely beautiful. Art on wheels
Amazing car !!
NEAT!
Liked and shared.
The narrators phrasing is reallyodd
But will it burn out?
It certainly will burn!

The original actually been scrapped back in 1936 because it's just prototype and turn in to another components for another car.
The original burts into flames .
Quite an engineering job

designer Ralph Lauren owns one of the 3

There was one on jay leno's garage
Doesn’t Ralph Lauren own a Bugatti Aerolithe?

put a W16 in it, some 300mm tires and I'll send a check
Oh the original car is in the storage shed
Sealed in. Yikes... good to look at, tho.
My theory of the original is that it got destroyed from bombing during WW2. Just a theory.🤔
Or hitler had it in his collection and had it destroyed 🤔
it has been confirmed by former bugatti employees that it had been dismantled at the factory, but yet people want to believe it is still a mystery.
Z-Type
5 million bucks and it won't go over 40 mph, That's funny.
Wow 🙏🙏🙏
This isn't the only one. There r others.
Not built from magnesium there ain’t!!! This is a one - off
The another one which is the production version( only 4,1 is missing(nickname la voiture noire)),is not using elektron or magnesium alloy like the prototype model.
So is this registered as a real Bugatti or a kit car?r
I watch the whole show on that car.
Pretty sure it’s the 4th Bugatti Atlantic that was lost but ok
Unless like, both are lost too

a guy has one in oshkosh wisconsin.
Well we know what happened to the car, some idiot, whipped out a torch to take out a dent! Burnt to the ground
Bad chad has one made out of bondo, with an ugly windshield.
I saw a model exactly like this one in a partially dismantled state in France during a holiday in 1987, it was near the city of St. Pancrasse.
But was it a bugatti? in 1987 they were already very collectible cars
Not the same car
Coool
But what about the style of a Pinto?
Bad Chad's is cooler
Ugly looks like a stretch ed vw bug
Be a u ti ful!
designer Ralph Lauren owns one of the 3
I believe Jay Leno has that one now.
