My puddle light came off with the rest of it. But I had a fourth screw that you didn’t mention that was up in there hard to see. You have to close the mirror all the way to access that other screw.
It's been awhile since I made this video. I don't recall the screw count but ill be happy if your comment helps other solve any issues they might be experiencing. Thanks for watching
There is an extra wire in the OEM mirror that supplies the auto-dimming feature for bright light. No online retailer has a mirror that is compatible with this option. Only the Dealer has the mirrors with this extra wiring included. To me, it wasn't worth 3x the price for auto-dimming, so now I just have to squint or look away, if it get hi-beams in my mirror.
You have 4 wires because you can enable tilt in reverse for the side mirrors, if it’s not already enabled. If you don’t have memory seats, won’t be enabled, but you can do it w ALPHAODB. 👍🏻
That makes sense. I still didn't know what it was lol. I didnt want to chance it. And I actually disabled the tilt in reverse because I found it more of an inconvenience.
So I have a project truck.A 2016 ram 1500 express. It doesn’t have a turn signal light on the mirror at all.Do I have to wire it or does the mirror have wires tucked away
It would all depend on the set up on your mirror assembly. Im not sure if the express model has power adjusted mirrors or any of the wires. To my understanding the hardware part is all the same and you would just leave the wires tucked away or hanging if im understanding you correctly
Do you happen to know the part number for the replacement light? Your video is the only one that matches exactly what I have. However, my issue is that the turn signal on the mirror is going out and I’m trying to replace it myself instead of taking it to the dealership and pay outrageous labor costs.
Unfortunately no I dont have a part number but side mirror I have is for a laramie. The donor was for a sport. Apparently its the auto dim and tilt feature that makes it different. The led turn signal lights ive seen for about 80 bucks when they have them. The dealer will wanna dell you the whole side mirror assembly. Yout best bet is to find one thats messed up or for sale cheap somewhere but had a good turn signal.
Well thats the thing. The dealership won't do this work. They claim its not possible. They want you to buy a whole new paint matched set. And I rather take things apart and learn how to do then myself. Plus I like to teach and help others who might have questions or need comparisons.
hey dude...i got the same 2016 ram 1500 laramie (same color too) with the side mirrors that are on your truck, with the same clips and everything. my passenger side mirror part ( that you explain how to take off the housing) literally blew off the housing going through the car wash. It doesnt look like anything broke or snapped off, but I can't for the life of me get it to snap back into place. any suggestions?
Hey sorry for the late reply. It's easier to snap back in if it's taken apart. The other sides seem to make it very difficult. I feel your pain though. carwash got me too. By now you probably already fixed your issue though im sure
Exactly what I was looking for. Great video, straight to the point. Much appreciated!

Great video. But if I could afford the truck and 2 side by sides I would just pay someone to do it😊
