Something I think a lot of people seemed to have forgotten or never experienced was how the format to play XIV on mobile has been in the works since ARR. Like a lot of trial and error has been going on to get it to a satisfactory point, I'd assume. It likely started with the PS Vita's ability to stream the game from the PS4. The back of the handheld essentially worked like how you might suspect a touchscreen would. Then we have things like how PvP controls function, where they reduce the number of inputs you need to function dramatically (e.g. your rotation is all 1 button). Assuming what I'm saying is accurate, it really does give you an impression of how it might play if you've ever tried the Vita stream function during ARR days.

@@kegosan7622 You're right, this other studio developed this all out of their own pocket, they totally didn't get contracted by SE Why would CBU3 have to try when tools like this exist everywhere
My guess is that the PVP job revisions has made this possible because of the distillation of classes to about 4-6 button presses. Really there are some geo regions that don't have access to hardware beyond phones, so SE probably sees this as a revenue source for existing content. Not my bag, but if this introduces additional people to FFXIV without negatively effecting the main game, I'd say good for them.
If you want to know what the gameplay will look like, just make FFXIV on your PC into a tiny window and then smear your fingerprints all over the monitor, and play it on public wifi with your hotbar icons at 400% size
Idk, every time I see a company going mobile with their old games I think it's some random company guy that tells the developers to do them BC "Everyone is in their cellphones nowadays". I can't imagine it was a developers idea.
We can get everyone on mobile a house (potentially), but still can't figure it out for the main game? Wild to me. Also, not really big on mobile games, but this would be a slam dunk for me if it were an extension of one's regular account. If I could pull this up quick to do dailies or crafting/gathering, I'd be all over it
I look at this the same way that Minecraft (console/mobile) is the same "concept", but is a wholely different experience and gameplay than PC. Its a great way to get the early content in front of more people, BUT my worry is that is going to be a SEO nightmare, both for players trying to find information (both real game trying to find something, seeing a page thats about mobile and getting confused/conflicting information, and new mobile players finding 11 years of full game information that doesnt apply to them) and also for marketing (possibly putting out conflicting information)
I just hope its specs also don't need a high-end gaming phone such as Zenless Zone Zero, cuz I am totally hyped for this, I mean I miss this game since I can't play it anymore after the dawntrail update which consists of a device issue. So this is kinda like a breath of fresh air for me
the one thing I'm worried about is how this game is gonna change how the toxic cesspool talks about stuff like game balance and class identity. It all depends on how different the game is but I do worry for that eventual "just add X feature from the mobile game" without really understanding what that entails.
Do you think Square could be using this to eventually replace the current Spaghetti-Code of FF14 if the Mobile version has success making things run smoothly? As in, if the Mobile version can rebuild from the ground up things like Inventories, Housing, etc. while adding more Voice acted cutscenes for earlier expansions, then by the time they catch up to 8.0 or 9.0, they could add a PC Port and replace the original, migrating the Player and their stuff.
I’m happy for this. I know nothing about 14 Mobile and I’m excited to jump in. I know there’s gonna be some crazy Micro transactions, but I wouldn’t mind throwing some money either way if they keep up with content updates.
My cautiously optimistic idea is that this is FFXIV 2 with a modern game engine, and that they just cook this in the background until it's caught up to move everything over to this. Remove all the jank. Though I still would have loved a straight up NEW mmo, but it wouldn't be unusual for this to be the groundwork of a multiplatform game.

for me, it depends on the cost and how much interaction it has with the live game. FTP with no harsh monetization, ya maybe worth if the game itself is good. I'm currious if there would be some kind of bonus available for people with a sub for the main game?
FFXIV CLASSIC AT HOME
At first I was like "it says it release in november, not now." Then I realized it's already november again.
I am excited. FFXIV on mobile?! A huge storyline to explore ANYWHERE?! Yes!
If the mobile game ends up getting all the features we want in the PC game and we don't it will become a real table flip moment. Houses. Glamour catalogue. Content.
It will happen because it's new code on a new engine.
@@SpearAce1557 and id like to hope that if things work out, maybe they can use this as a way to figure out how to give us some of the same stuff in the main game. id love a Glamour catalogue in main
I just want my hats man😂😂. But secure the bag my dudes.
Would be so funny if instead of hroth and viera hats being added in FFXIV, we get a 'remake' where the races are just outright nonexistent
Devs would rather reimagine the entire base game than tweak some hat models to fit a new race🤣
This looks amazing! I had no idea they were going to adapt FF14 into a Mobile game!
With voice acted lines for ARR MSQ, I think this could be something incredible!
And thats why Dawntrail is a bucket of warm shite.
My hope for this is that it is sustainable enough and not too egregious so that we can get a 1.0 chapter/expansion
I still have so many questions:
-How much memory is required just for ARR? Is it the actual full experience of the base game or will features like story, combat, etc. be watered down?
-Will mobile players have access to every ability/skill in the base game? If so, how will hotbars work?
-Is crossplay an end goal? Will PC and consoles players integrate with mobile if it catches up content-wise?
I honestly have no stakes in this because I have other means to play.....but this is so fascinating. I really want to know what it's like to play on mobile.
lol how we get all those amazing customizations for our houses will most likely be a big part where the monetization comes in lol
i mean if it all goes well this could make them a lot of money seeing as how mobile games bring in hella cash. which in turn could help make the actual game better with all the extra cash coming in. but what do i know im justa bard
They already don't put maingame earnings back into the maingame. Why would they do the same with the mobile version?
But......why? 🙄
To all the people who keep mentioning FF XI: see this as something positive: if this actually goes well, they might reconcicer FF XI online again with the studio that makes this one.
I'm glad the ffxiv mobile announcement is already teaching anyone who wants to read it how to weave
This explains a lot…
"Tap to speak with Wuk Lamat."
@ wuk has nothing to do with the mobile game it’s just ARR.
Yeah, we finally know where all our sub money was going.
@@Fortexcrosswhere? Square does not produce this game.
@@kegosan7622 You're right, this other studio developed this all out of their own pocket, they totally didn't get contracted by SE
Why would CBU3 have to try when tools like this exist everywhere
My guess is that the PVP job revisions has made this possible because of the distillation of classes to about 4-6 button presses. Really there are some geo regions that don't have access to hardware beyond phones, so SE probably sees this as a revenue source for existing content. Not my bag, but if this introduces additional people to FFXIV without negatively effecting the main game, I'd say good for them.
Curious, will wait until i see gameplay and all that though.
If I could pull this up quick to do dailies or crafting/gathering, I'd be all over it
Not gonna say it, not gonna say it
say it
@ nooooooooooooo
You guys dont have phones?
I look at this the same way that Minecraft (console/mobile) is the same "concept", but is a wholely different experience and gameplay than PC. Its a great way to get the early content in front of more people, BUT my worry is that is going to be a SEO nightmare, both for players trying to find information (both real game trying to find something, seeing a page thats about mobile and getting confused/conflicting information, and new mobile players finding 11 years of full game information that doesnt apply to them) and also for marketing (possibly putting out conflicting information)
I'm bummed, they likely dropped FFXI mobile for this.
nexon dropped it
I just hope its specs also don't need a high-end gaming phone such as Zenless Zone Zero, cuz I am totally hyped for this, I mean I miss this game since I can't play it anymore after the dawntrail update which consists of a device issue. So this is kinda like a breath of fresh air for me
Really hope it launches with trusts 😅
it says play alone or with friends, so I think so
Is this those FFXIV Classic servers I kept seeing people saying they wanted? Lmao
the one thing I'm worried about is how this game is gonna change how the toxic cesspool talks about stuff like game balance and class identity. It all depends on how different the game is but I do worry for that eventual "just add X feature from the mobile game" without really understanding what that entails.
If there is one reason I would get invested, it would be if Triple Triad had a mobile playerbase but I doubt it.
I was like in mobile, how? Then I had a flash back of beta testing FF14 on PS3...
My cautiously optimistic idea is that this is FFXIV 2 with a modern game engine, and that they just cook this in the background until it's caught up to move everything over to this. Remove all the jank.
Though I still would have loved a straight up NEW mmo, but it wouldn't be unusual for this to be the groundwork of a multiplatform game.
winter is coming phone is now a heating pad perfect timing
IIRC, You brought it up during an interview reading from China fanfest and immediately said that the game wouldn't be coming out outside of china.
Well, with an English web site, it's certainly a global release.
maybe only for the chinese version, because there is no reason for the game to have eng dub and eng text if it's only on china
@@rexxel8867 A lot of "global releases" for Chinese games have an English dub (Reverse 1999 comes to mind) -- even if they don't release it in NA immediately, they probably are planning for it.
"Pray Return to the Waking Sands"
NOOO!!!!!! Those words...they haunt me.
I've played FFXIV on my PS Vita YEARS back through Remote Play so no different than a mobile user using a bluetooth controller.
It would be neat if the english ARR got a redub out of this. I'm pretty sure that was the new Minfilia VA in the trailer rather than the old one.
uhhh so will it be full of gacha trash and dark patterns? or an actual game worth playing ? its a mobile game that's literally death knell for my interest in a "game"
Yeah you talked about it in one of the interview things
This will definitely have interesting rotation setups
for me, it depends on the cost and how much interaction it has with the live game. FTP with no harsh monetization, ya maybe worth if the game itself is good. But if it has heavy carryover with PC, then it might be worth paying a bit of an extra sub for. If you can level alts and they get there own housing and you can move items between versions, that would be great. But I won't want a "WoW Classic but its on your phone" type of game
cash cow just became two cash cows
I already have FF on the go with my ROG Ally so I don't have to play this. Am excited to see what the mobile version will be capable of though. Also, with every new mobile game I love seeing the monetization cause it gives you a feel for how the game will play.
Happy knew about this already guys!
Well… there some some MMOs currently on mobile now, granted they aren’t exactly WoW-like but still exist. Phones are starting to gain AAA titles so I guess this should be surprising.
Players: We get personal homes?
Mobile: Sure ! Just buy up our premium crystal packages so that you have enough to bid for the auctioned plots.
I'm hyped finally get to play on the go
Well....I know they talked about it before, but I honestly didn't think it would be a thing. Still dunno how I feel about it. Will give it a chance regardless.
Hype for that legendary team that will complete futures rewritten on Mobile only no healers
now imagine if the mobile game gathering/crafted could possibly give your main game account the items you gathered/crafted. or imagine if it brought back 2.0 crafting XD
