I am married to a long time commercial fisherman not only have their days been cut but they also are required to call in and get an observer(who works for the government, and has to give them 24hours to reply if they are available before they can head out and the observer gets paid out of the fisherman share and they also need to feed the observer) and if they are 1 minute over 24 hours the observer gets paid for a whole second day. How is that right ? the observer works for the government probably gets benefits as well and they are the ones taking away days from the fisherman, but then they are also getting paid out of the money the fisherman earned. Many of the fisherman this is all they know some didn't even graduate high school, if the government keeps putting limits and restrictions on them all the time how are they supposed to survive?... Farmers get help from the government why not the fisherman?

Seems to me they negotiating over a resource which is already mostly gone. Like breaking up Ma Bell just as new technology made her obsolete anyway.

And think about it if you had to rely on fish to feed your son to close your wife to pay your bills wouldn't you try to catch as many fish as you could to keep money in the bank some regulations are a good thing but completely shutting down certain Fisheries is not commercial fisherman as a whole understand sustainability and want fish for the future but don't want to be put out on the streets starving at the same time

WE in BRITAIN face the same problem about putting back OVER QUOTA fish --- dead or alive , .
yet the british boats have an added problem that you don t really have ,
we have to give 81% of british fish in BRITISH WATERS to the E,E,C. COUNTRIES !!
    we get only 9% .
and this is just one reason we are leaving the EUROPEAN UNION !!

Commercial fishermen are trying to say it is their tradition to take so many fish.. How is this right ? to fish so many fish ? ..TRADITION is when the whole village helps and gets some fish.. GREED IS THE PROBLEM HERE......
