  • I finally re-wrapped my steering wheel. It cost next to nothing and took a few hours. I'm pleased with the results. Fit isn't perfect, but really not that bad at all considering you can get these for 20-40 dollars on Ebay or Ali-Express. Just search "E46 steering wheel wrap" " E46 steering wheel cover" and browse around. They are made for a wide variety of cars now.

    That blue and red looks sharp, BTW.

    I did... wow, what a difference. Larger diameter to hold on to, better grip and looks SOOOOOO much better. :)

    I really like your new steering wheel mod. I remember it used to look like it was chewed by a porcupine along the bottom edge with some hockey tape on it Haha. Looks clean now, amazing, I bet it feels like a much better place to sit now with that done 👍 keep your vids coming ! My alcantara is still in fair shape but it is all matted and shiny and kinda feels a little sticky...I should clean it up but I am not sure cause I might screw it up lol

    Looking at doing this as my steering wheel is crap. Can you remove the OEM cover to install, or does the new wrap need the old to fit properly? Mine is worn completely through at the 12 o'clock position, so I would like to remove the old cover.

    Well worth the money. Looks very nice.

    Talking 'boot, eh? :) Did you consider taking off the trim pieces to get it to fit better? It just requires removing the airbag, which is pretty easy.

    Never have I subscribed to a channel so quickly
    Love the vids,
    Just wondered, uk based I have an E46 318ci
    Body is in great shape but I know 4 cylinder engines aren't the best so looking at swapping to a 2.5 2.8 or even 3.0 engine and will be doing some similar mods to yourself
    For things like flywheel is it worth waiting till the swap or get them done before and will I take advantage of the upgrades on the 4 cylinder block?
    Cheers 👍🏻

      +Jay Accident if you are going to do a swap, go right to a 330. Don't mess around with the smaller engines. Just did a swap. It's terrible. Haha. And honestly focus on chassis mods. Will make a huge difference in how fun the car is

    I'd say you really nailed it. Did you use any adhesive to keep it in place once you started sewing?

    • @ThrottleHouse
      @ThrottleHouse  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just some two sided tape that came with the kit

      Do you have the sport steering wheel? If so, where did you order your wrap from? I can't find the wrap for the sport wheel with the M stitching.

    Why didn't you choose alcantara to rewrap it?

      Alcantara is a terrible material for contact points such as the steering wheel, gear knob, and seats. It wears much, much faster than leather.

    He T.H. thanks for the e46 vids!
    this will be a nice budget solution for buying a "new wheel" that i was actually planning to do, so thanks!
    one question, did you remove the old leather before rewrapping it? or did you just wrap it over the existing layer?

    • @ThrottleHouse
      @ThrottleHouse  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +uscp2 left it on. It's sized for that
