- This video is meant to document some of the operations and activities associated with the arrival of Amtrak's northbound Auto Train #52 at its northern terminus in Lorton, Virginia in October 1988. Included are scenes of the train pulling into the terminal off of the RF&P Railroad, the terminal area, and the positioning and unloading of Auto Carriers.
P30CH locomotives, Prototype Viewliner sleeper, dome cars, Heritage cars galore...talk about vintage Amtrak gold! Thank you for the video!
Yeah, the haters think the p30ch is one of those diesels that get up really late and forget their coffee. Well I have a question for them does everyone drink coffee?
Anyone Else Notice the Black Labrador on the Back of the Switcher? So CUTE!!!
Nice vintage cars, like I remembered when growing up
Wow! 1988, great stuff... Railfanning in the 80s!
This video is a Time Machine. I love it
great video! what collection of amtrak cars and locomotives
5:53 wow he gets on soft
Very smooth
How autotrain facility sure changed?
While many of the non-Amfleet II cars from this train no longer exist, I know for a fact that Buffet car #8704 still operates as a snack/souvenir car for the Cuyahoga Valley Scenic Railroad out of Cleveland, Ohio. I believe they bought two of them, and I think #8700 is the other one.
Amtrak #2300 a prototype Viewliner Sleeper comes to view arriving Amtrak’s Lorton Station. 🚂 3:30
Hello, would you be alright if I used this video and similar Auto Train in a TH-cam documentary I'm making? Will credit of course.
Cheers.
I'm surprised that the Buffet Cars were never modelled in Ho scale or N scale. Let see the Buffet Cars Configuration
Perhaps they were, just not by a mass manufacturer but a brass company?
nice vid.
