  • This is a video of some of the trains I shot after Thanksgiving 1994. Video was taken at Perryville, MD and Ivy City (Washington, DC) along the NEC. Amtrak borrowed equipment from MARC and NJT to meet demand during the busiest travel period of the year. I had to make it in 3 parts to fit on another web site, but is combined as one here.

A couple of notes from a former Amtrak Washington OBS employee: Geep #760 was ex-Frisco; switcher #738 was the Washington Terminal Company "heritage" unit (but we didn't have that term back then). The very short F40 led trains with the cab control cars may have been the Atlantic City Express train, which usually was 5 or 6 cars, but ridership had gone way down by then and they were discontinued the following April (that was my run, but I don't know where I was those dates), so they very well could have taken cars from them for the holiday extra trains. Also, the AC Express trains usually ran cab-car leading from DC to AC, but things can be different during the holiday rush.

Some of the Heritage coaches were looking pretty beat by then. I think the first and last time I rode on one was around '97 or '98 between Philly and Boston. I remember I thought the seats were more comfy than Amfleet but a bit bouncy ride, maybe the suspension was worn out...

This mainly serves to remind me that phase III is still the best Amtrak livery

Q: How much food should the passengers get?
      Amtrak: Yes

3:49 - 3:55 Who TF decides to put a singular café car at the tail end of an 11 car consist?
    EDIT: 10:38 - 11:14 Or at the end of a 14-CAR consist?
What were the people planning Amtrak train consists in the 80s and 90s smoking?

What is the number of that baggage car at 13:04, because I know that is not 1132 because 1132 had a big window on the one door side !!

I also spotted the penn central baggage car that still had its NYC markings on it. That had to be years of only getting touched by paint once, and that was like in the 1960s and 70s
