  • Can you connect the Rodecaster Pro to an iPad Pro via USB C? I wanted to find out (the answer is yes) and I also wanted to take it a step further by using the Rodecaster to record multitrack instruments into GarageBand on the iPad. It was a fun and exhausting experiment!

    This last Saturday my group and I went to the beach park and used the rodecaster pro as the audio interface. We also made a Ska song 😅 so I guess there's a trend. But we couldn't figure out the audio feedback issue caused by the USB connection, so thank you this is exactly what I needed. I can't find the video of yours that sparked this questions so I will ask it here. hopefully you see this. if I am going to multi track PRE fader does that mean all my audio (no matter where my slider is) will get sent out at unity gain (-10db according to the slider)? so say my pads are set at like -45db on the slider it will export at -10? I’d like to know more since the iPad is the only computer I use. Can you transfer files from the rodecaster to the iPad? Can you use facetime with screensharing and make it work with a high quality mic connected to the rodecaster. Can I just use the rodecaster, in general, without a mac or pc - just an iPad, and make use of all the features.

    • @tombuck
      @tombuck  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      When you connect the RCP to the iPad it cna become the main audio source, so you can use it with pretty much any app. File transfer is a bit different though. I think the way to do it is still via a card reader.

    Hi Tom, this is really interesting and inspirational vids.
    May I have a proposal, please?
    Is that possible to record the game sounds, which is in iPad, and screen stream/record with Roadcaster Pro, and ATEM Mini, via OBS/Mac mini, please?
    Since I have been training with ZWIFT, which is a indoor training software for cyclists, runners and triathletes. I have tried many different ways to add the game BGM sounds into my screen recording with OBS. Because I'm a Mac user, it seems like no way to make this thing happened.
    Currently, I only have ATEM Mini for the camera, the video image capture performed good so far. But no game sound. There's no other reviews and/or methods for Mac users to solve this kind of issues through the internet yet.
    I don't have Rodecaster Pro at hands. And if this is the last piece of the puzzle, I am extremely happy to buy one and boost my workflow. Many more Mac users will appreciate your experiment as I do now.

SS is so cool bec everything is light, and is handy but powerful at the same time! Just like how this rodecaster pro can connect to an iPad... iphone's camera can turn into a monster camera too by using diff lenses! lights are also portable just like the new release of elgato keylight mini... and so many other accessories for light traveling but does not compromise the quality of the stream.

    Tom how can I get sound from OBS, like videos or audio files, that are held in OBS to listen in Rodecaster Pro when played to record them on the Rodecaster. I know them are in the OBS recording and you can see the audio meter in OBS moving wile played, but can't listen to them in my Headphones of the Rodecaster.

    Maybe in some future update to the companion app, Rode could mirror the data screen onto a laptop, iPad, or desktop. @@tombuck I think the Rodecaster is amazing no doubt but it does have limits and so for recording instruments you need EQ and all the normal sound system things including compressors, gates and the like. I got mine before I discovered your channel and being a sound gut there was hardly no learning curve. I expect you're a GREAT teacher because I trying to learn FCX (used Vegas on PC for 7 years) and it's been slow going your FCX tips have really helped. I made the mistake of when I retired I knew I wanted to do a Podcast. Then a former client literally threw money at me to do these training videos so I got all this equipment in at once and instead of concentrating on my podcast now I have to learn a new camera (Fuji XT4), FCX and ScreenFlow9 just to name a few.
